It’s essentially a thriller... with just a few tiny touches of horror...

If we were to categorize this as an action-thriller infused with horror elements, we could look at:

Silent Rage (1982)
The First Power (1990)
Sleepstalker (1995)
Shadow Builder (1998)
The Minion (1998)
Fallen (1998)
End of Days (1999)

Now, those others actually lean into Sci-Fi as well:

SF: The Hidden (1987)
Split Second (1992)
Project Metalbeast (1995)

The Golden Globe (2019)

This is an incredibly heavy watch about a real-life serial killer and rapist from Hamburg back in the 70s named Fritz Honka. He used to lure his victims to a local dive bar called the Golden Glove where the regulars would hang out, then take them back to his place to strangle them and butcher them, keeping parts of the bodies as "souvenirs." The scenes involving the assaults and the killings of elderly women struggling with alcoholism are some of the most jarring things I've seen on screen. I'd give it an 8/10.

Didn't I tell you about the Golden Globe? That movie was an absolute train wreck. It’s one of those rare films you can honestly say just isn't for everyone.

I Am Legend
One of those better movies. I’ve seen it a hundred times already, but honestly, I could probably go for another hundred.👍

The sci-fi book is actually even better than the movie.

It's an incredibly brutal movie about this real-life serial killer and rapist from New York City back in the 70s known as Ted Bundy. He used to lure his victims into a bar called The Golden Glove where all the heavy drinkers hung out, then take them back to his place to choke them and... well, eat pieces of them. He even kept the bodies as "souvenirs" instead of getting rid of them. The scenes involving the rape and murder of those elderly alcoholic women are just shocking—you don't see stuff like that on screen often. I'd give it an 8/10.[/I]

Man, I think I'll stick to normal human relationships.

Sci-Fi/Action/Horror... just lacks that true Thriller feel.

Back when people thought New York City was going "underwater" in 2008, they were actually looking at the future. 😁

Alone (2020)

Poor Jessica runs into some highway psychopath who decides to kidnap her mid-trip... It's a decent enough watch, maybe a 7/10. It’s actually kind of funny how there were three different movies with this exact same title released in 2020—this one, a zombie flick, and some total garbage I accidentally downloaded—so just double-check what you're grabbing before you hit download. 😁

Poor Jessica runs into some highway psycho who kidnaps her halfway through... Decent flick, 7/10. Weirdly enough, there are three different movies all titled the same thing released in 2020: this one, a zombie version, and some total garbage I accidentally downloaded. Watch what you're clicking on. 😁[/I]

Agreed. Actually, I'll bump it up to a 7.5/10 because that bloody, messy finale was intense.

The Platform (2020)

It’s basically a prison from a fever dream where those on the top floors feast on desserts while the folks at the bottom descend into cannibalism... a pretty singular film, I'd give it an 8/10. Honestly, we should probably adopt this system here in the States and drop all those petty thieves and lowlifes down to the lower levels to help clean up society. 😁

Poor Jessica runs into some highway psycho who kidnaps her mid-trip... It was actually a pretty solid movie, maybe a 7/10. It’s kind of wild that there are three different movies with the exact same title all released in 2020: this one, then the zombie one, and then this other total dud (which I accidentally downloaded, so just be careful which one you grab when downloading!). 😁[/I]

A lot of movies have used that same trope, but I guess Misery is probably the best one.

Personally, I’d classify it more as horror-action—if that makes sense.
Still, I have to agree, it's an excellent film, especially considering how thin the budget clearly was.

It’s basically a nightmare prison—the folks on the top floors are snacking on desserts while the people at the bottom turn into cannibals... Truly unique movie, I'd give it an 8/10. Honestly, we need to implement this system here ASAP—throw all those corrupt politicians and lowlifes down to the lower levels to clean things up once and for all. 😁[/I]

Wait, is that the Spanish one? I mostly stick to American movies—I just vibe better with the language. I tried watching a Chinese film once and it was pretty meh, even though everyone seems to be pushing Chinese cinema lately. I actually wanted to check out the latest Pinocchio, but since it was in Italian, I didn't even bother downloading it.

It’s basically a nightmare prison. The people on the top floors are eating cake while the folks at the bottom turn into cannibals. Truly unique movie. I'd give it an 8/10. Honestly, we need to implement this system in America immediately. Just stick all those corrupt politicians and bottom-feeders on the lower levels to clean up the country. 😁[/I]

As far as things go right now, we basically already have this system in place. It's just that the crooked politicians and the scum aren't actually stuck on the bottom floors.

There are two versions available: the original in Spanish and an English version. Personally, I don't mind the Spanish at all even though I don't speak it—I do know Italian, though—and as long as the subtitles are decent, I don't really have an issue even with Asian films. 😁

😁 It might be time to move them downstairs.
