Hello, I have a few questions before I commit to purchasing a new monitor.
My primary focus would be gaming, so performance is absolutely paramount here. I suppose aesthetics aren't a major concern for me; I just need something high-quality that will remain reliable and functional for the long haul.

In your opinion, what is a reasonable price range to expect for a monitor in the roughly 19 to 22-inch size class? What would you consider the lower and upper limits of a sensible budget?
Additionally, would you suggest opting for an LED versus an LCD panel?

Thank you

It really just boils down to how much cash you're willing to throw at this—honestly, there’s a massive price gap between the 19 and the 22-inch models. Besides, LCD screens are basically becoming relics at this point. This one is a solid, decent monitor without being an absolute rip-off:

Let's say, around $500$267? What kind of monitors can I actually find in that range?
I don't have a massive amount of desk space, so I tend to prefer smaller monitors. I am wondering if it is even possible to secure a high-quality gaming monitor for that kind of money.

No way, you can't really grab that—maybe you could try picking up this instead:

Aha, so what would be the absolute floor for the price, and which specific monitor are we actually talking about here?

How would you evaluate this in terms of price versus performance?

It’s a decent enough IPS monitor. I guess if you want it, go ahead and grab it.

Sooo...
Since I'm moving out of my parents' place soon, I'm thinking about picking up a 22, 23, or 24" monitor for my setup—nothing crazy intensive. All I really care about is that it's Full HD and has an HDMI port. I know everyone says IPS is the way to go, but honestly? It doesn't matter to me... I'm not sitting there binge-watching movies or cartoons, and I'm definitely not some hardcore gamer (barely play anything at all)...
I've put together a few ideas of what I might grab, so if you guys have any advice, please help a guy out 🙂 or even better, let me know if there's something superior out there 🙂
My budget is $160 (maybe slightly less $307)...so please don't give me that "just stretch your budget a little bit" routine 😉 🙂

Current frontrunner and runner-up

The difference is just 1.5" and 40 bucks... and honestly, the AOC looks so much easier on the eyes 🙂 is it actually worth dropping that extra 40 bucks or should I just save it?

Here are the other contenders:

This one is $10 more expensive, but it's just a backup option for now 🙂 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009483

But seriously, nobody 😕
Did I say something wrong or what? Should I just start a whole new thread?

Look, if you’re dead set on a bigger screen, just grab the 23-inch—otherwise, stick to the smaller one. You mentioned you don't care about the panel quality, so honestly? Just go for the cheapest option available. Seriously, head down to Best Buy or something and actually look at them in person before deciding. Try to hunt down a review online, though good luck with that—finding decent write-ups for budget monitors is basically impossible. Plus, those specific models aren't even stocked here in the States, so I doubt anyone's going to jump in with any actual hands-on experience.

Alright, thanks! 👍

I've been digging through reviews online, and from what I can tell, this DELL is getting nothing but praise—which is a huge relief since people have been absolutely tearing that AOC model apart in a couple of recent write-ups. Apparently, the positive stuff you see for the AOC is just pure hype and total nonsense. 🙂Well, I'll be 😉thanks again...

By the way... that AOC one is available here too, 😉but it’s actually more expensive by about $183 😁 (on Best Buy)

They’ve actually got an IPS Philips 21" over at Best Buy for just a bit more than $300.

So... I stumbled upon this Acer at a killer discount 😁 for just $132, and honestly? I think the price is absolute insanity 👍
The reviews everywhere are glowing—it’s got an anti-glare screen and everything... I really feel like I just scored the deal of a lifetime, haha. I mean, who else is getting something this decent for pocket change? 🙂

Here's what the price looks like over here at about $150 difference 😉 except the model we have is labeled hlbMid, whereas in the USA they don't include that M.

Justin Gray81 said:I... I think I found it. I suppose this Acer unit is worth mentioning. I suppose we are on solid ground here. 😁 At $132, I suppose one could argue that the price point is actually quite brilliant. 👍
It seems like everywhere I look, the reviews are stellar... plus, it features an anti-glare screen. I suppose I might have actually found exactly what I’m looking for, haha. Honestly, I am not entirely sure if it is even possible to find anything comparable at this price point. 🙂

Here is what the pricing looks like over here in the States. Understood. $150 I suppose there is a distinction to be made here, though I find the nuances somewhat tedious to parse. If we are looking at the fundamental differences, one might argue that the specifics depend entirely on the context being discussed. It seems to me that people often conflate two separate issues, which, quite frankly, is frustrating. Perhaps there is a subtle gap between the two, or maybe they are essentially the same thing viewed through different lenses. I guess it really comes down to how one chooses to define the parameters. 😉 I suppose it might finally be time for us to start using the HLB designation here in the States.MI suppose, if we are being technical about it, there is no "M" in the USA.

How exactly do you intend to acquire such an item? I mean, what is your actual plan for obtaining it? Furthermore, does the vendor even offer shipping to the States?
