You're right. The topic on this political forum is communism. I'm sticking to the subject by writing about the crimes committed by communists in the USSR, the former Eastern Bloc countries, and even the crimes of the communists in America.
I lived in a former country where democracy didn't exist. The Communist Party of America held all the power. We had a socialist society, but the communists were firmly in control.
It’s a lie and a complete deception of the public to claim the delegate system was democratic or that the people had any say in decisions.
The Council of Europe and the Parliament, through their declaration, have clearly condemned the totalitarian communist regimes that ruled a whole string of nations.

Justin Harris12 said:That isn't accurate. The Council of Europe resolution condemned the crimes committed by the regime, not communism itself.
Communism as a system is built upon the premise of a classless society. It seeks to abolish private property, placing everything under collective ownership for the benefit of the people.

We shouldn't conflate the specific crimes committed under communism with the ideology itself. Communism isn't the same thing as fascism; after all, fascism isn't built on the foundation of equality.

Even within democracies and capitalist systems, we see crimes being committed. These actions will eventually face judgment, but justice requires time.

Without getting too deep into it—this just looks a bit foolish as written, because the emphasis is placed entirely on the crimes. totalitarian Friends, what exactly is being implied here? Are we claiming these aren't truly free societies when compared to the ones you've mentioned? It brings us right back to the same question: does anyone actually care? velica Whether it belongs in the Political section or not, what is already prohibited by both the Council of Europe and the laws of the Republic of America remains forbidden.

On top of all that, they keep grinding away at the PZK by constantly snitching on anyone with a different opinion—and everyone else who, naturally, isn't doing the same (since they aren't breaking the law with their arguments and legitimate stances). In the grand scheme of things, maybe that’s also a valid question.

Let’s not confuse the specific crimes committed under communism with the ideology itself; communism isn't the same thing as fascism.

Setting fascism aside for a moment, if there is proven evidence of restrictions on free speech and movement—where defying the state leads to imprisonment, extermination, or execution—isn't that simply the definition of a criminal regime? When a system's very foundations are built on such cruelty rather than the freedoms we cherish in a democracy, don't you see the fundamental difference?

If even the most serious forums and sub-forums hand out instant bans to anyone who mentions criminal regimes or their symbols in any capacity, then you surely know that yourself if you're from the USA.

No offense intended, but what someone wants or doesn't want is secondary 😁 — perhaps it's more important to look at what the law actually dictates regarding this. Where are the boundaries, or when does one cross the line into political incorrectness?😉

Daniel Ward87 says:

I haven't been following this thread closely enough to know what Collins wrote. If he was just throwing numbers around without any actual context, then it’s just trolling. Just report him; he'll get a warning. My take is that CionistUSA is comparing fascism to communism rather than socialism. It seems they aren't just talking about the old days in America, but the crimes committed under communist rule across Europe—which naturally includes Soviet communism.

If people are just tossing out statistics—not just him, but others too—without any logic, the most tragic part is the total lack of respect for the innocent victims.

Without trying to play judge on who's right or wrong, I'd ask everyone involved: if you feel the need to go "number crunching," please include some decency toward those victims. You never know; someone reading this might have been directly impacted by these events.

It’s especially important because these debates often spiral into absurdity, turning into a contest of who can claim more casualties. That’s just bad taste. Thanks.

Especially since these debates often spiral into absurdity, turning into a competition over who suffered more. That's just bad taste. Thanks.

What does that have to do with the topic at hand? The issue here is that bluecyclist64 is trying to introduce verbal offenses to this forum.
You can be pretty biased yourself. You closed two threads. Why??
1. Poll: Should we ban all glorification of communism, their symbols, and their holidays?

Poll: Should we ban all glorification of communism, including their symbols and holidays?
2. The discussion surrounding the Declaration on condemnation of criminal communist regime continues to gain traction. It seems the debate over historical accountability remains just as fractured as ever.

Do you have some burning need to argue, or just a desire to read what’s written? I was merely expanding on a point made by my colleague Strile, while adding my own take.

Let’s be honest here—what does communism, WWII, the partisans, the Nationalists, or any of that other mess from fifty or seventy years ago actually have to do with politics.pdf?

It makes no difference, regardless of how hard some people try to prove otherwise. This PDF focuses on political matters critical to our future, not the past. For history and historical topics, there is a separate PDF for that.

Does anyone have a common thread on the PDF? It’s titled "Controversies from American History - Political Aspects." All threads, including this one, should be moved over there. It’ll happen sometime today.

I closed the thread about Hitler. He doesn't belong here on the politics forum.

Thread closed. Poll: Should we ban all glorification of communism, including their symbols and holidays? It seems you clearly missed that I already closed this thread. Should we ban the cross and all other Christian religious symbols? It seems a bit odd to me, considering how they're positioned right underneath one another.
The closing posts for these threads are identical because the reasons for shutting them down remain exactly the same.

The post made when closing those threads is identical because the reasons for closing them are identical.

Those two sides aren't, and can't be, the same. In democratic countries, the cross doesn't represent any kind of totalitarianism. On the other hand, the star, the sickle, and the hammer represent the symbols of communist totalitarianism and fascism, which the Council of Europe—of which we are a member—has condemned.☕
BTW, I didn't notice you attacking bluecyclist64 over his numbers regarding the 700,000 people killed in Jasenovac. You only attack forum members who don't share your political views.

Do you just have an itch to argue, or do you actually enjoy reading what’s written? I was simply adding my own perspective to what our colleague Strile said in part of his response.

Let’s be real here—what does communism, WWII, the partisans, the Nationalists, or any other ghosts from 50 or 70 years ago have to do with a politics forum??

I would argue that, given the recent Council of Europe resolution and the fact that the US has only recently become a full EU member, the topic someone raised is actually relevant and significant. In the context of how it was framed, it isn't just some ancient history from 50 or 70 years ago.🙄

And I honestly don't get why you'd dare compare religious symbols to this (or bring up some trollish topic about it)—comparing them to something that is legally prohibited. Just to clear up any "confusion": there is constant discussion regarding the strictly punishable use of certain symbols or the glorification of such imagery. I really don't see why these should even be lumped together.

Could you please explain yourself? How are these topics—or any potential future ones—even remotely related? On one hand, we have the relevance of Council decisions regarding the recent past and the US, and on the other, we have trolling nonsense that has nothing to do with actual politics.

Here we go again, seeing people try to draw an equal line between communism and the Catholic Church. I see this sentiment popping up constantly from a certain corner of this forum, and honestly, it feels like most of the mods and even the administration are pretty much on the same page about it. Look, I don't really have a problem with that—this is a private forum, and it's certainly not up to us users to decide which way the wind should blow. But at the same time, let's be real: this forum probably wouldn't survive more than a few days if it actually hosted people with different views. So, when the mods act like they're protecting freedom of speech, I get it. They're just human beings, after all, and I suppose it makes sense why things are this way when you start poking at people's sacred beliefs...

wanderingheron52 said:Once again, we see an attempt to equate communism with the Catholic Church, which seems to be a recurring theme from certain users here. It appears even the moderators and the admin team share this sentiment. Personally, I don't mind; this is a private forum, and we users certainly aren't going to dictate which way the wind blows. However, it is also a fact that this forum wouldn't survive a few days without these specific viewpoints, so I suppose we should be thankful the mods care about freedom of speech. Then again, they are only human, and I can understand why they react this way when their sacred beliefs are being poked at...

Yes, hopefully, a moderator will step in soon to clarify exactly what was meant by those comments above.

p.s. btw, here is the reasoning provided for both threads, which, quite coincidentally, are locked right next to each other regarding Middle East politics.

The bitterness and mutual insults end here. As for those who want to ban things, why not just start a political party, win a supermajority in the next election, and change the Constitution and federal laws to suit your whims?

Thanks for reading.

No, I’m not joking at all. I simply closed two threads that had nothing to do with politics and existed solely for insults and trolling—nothing more, nothing less. And as for me equating Communism with the Catholic Church? That is absolute nonsense.

Really??

Let's try this: The Declaration on condemnation of criminal communist regime regarding crimes committed during the totalitarian communist era in America from 1945–1990, which was adopted back in 2006 by members of the US Parliament along with the Council of Europe—you're telling me that has nothing to do with politics? And a thread where we poll people about regulating the public glorification of such and such a criminal system doesn't belong in Politics either?😁

and as for me equating communism with the Catholic Church—that’s just biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip

I didn't claim that, but you shut down both topics using the exact same reasoning, effectively putting them in 'the same boat.'

Susan Price30 bluecyclist64 said:Hey.

So, let's get this straight: the American Declaration on condemnation of criminal communist regime—the one passed back in 2006 by the US Parliament along with the Council of Europe—is somehow "not political"? And then we're supposed to believe that starting a poll about regulating how we memorialize those specific criminal systems isn't political either? Makes sense. Not.😁

And who exactly is stopping you from starting a thread like this?

Here's an idea to help you out.

With communist symbols banned and their removal from public spaces underway, alongside the prosecution of criminals from the former communist regime—regardless of how much time has passed—the HSP is calling for full lustration. They want accountability for anyone who wronged America and its people under that old regime. The goal is to finally write a new, credible history for the 1945–1990 era, one actually rooted in facts.

HSP leader Daniel Srb issued a press release reminding everyone that the Council of Europe passed the Declaration on condemnation of communist crimes back on January 25, 2006. He also noted that the American Parliament formally adopted and confirmed that same declaration on June 30, 2006.

Since the Declaration on condemnation of criminal communist regime was passed by the American Parliament, we have to ask the Government of America and its citizens: why do symbols of that regime still haunt our public spaces? It’s baffling that the most beautiful square in the city still bears the name of one of the ten greatest criminals of the 20th century, despite endless attempts to fix it, according to an HSP president's statement.

The recent discussions regarding the removal of religious symbols from public spaces have resurfaced. It seems we are once again debating whether certain icons belong in the public square or if they should be relegated to private belief. A complicated issue, to say the least.

p.s. Basically, what I’m trying to say is, if those fascist-style evil communists want to redirect the conversation elsewhere or shut it down entirely, isn't there another option? Instead of defaulting to banning—effectively locking out everyone else who just wants to discuss certain topics and punishing the innocent—why not just remove the people who constantly push or glorify this ideology (which has been globally condemned as criminal)? Why punish the group when you could just deal with the persistent trolls who keep doing the same thing wherever they go?

That was my thought, but I suppose the PZK admins will decide whether or not to consider it, since that’s the actual issue here. We aren't in the Politics section.

And who exactly is stopping you from starting a thread like that??

Let me help you brainstorm an idea.

It's just difficult because I already know who’s going to turn a thread like that into a total mess, shouting nonsense and insulting everyone involved.😁 I truly admire your patience and good will toward them, but sometimes it feels like instead of endless warnings and strikes, it’s time to be a bit firmer... a ban or a partial ban and goodbye. Write whenever you can.

Exactly. Unless there’s some other explanation—which doesn't seem likely—it looks like that first impression was spot on.

Good grief, why am I even wasting my breath here?
That sub-forum is a complete disaster... any topic that actually gets interesting or heated just turns into a troll fest before it's over.🤦
And then everything gets locked by my favorite local, Charles Fox10.
