I could really use some advice if anyone’s got a minute 🙂

So, I've got these annoying little cracks forming on my lips—specifically right in that crease where your lips meet when you close your mouth. It's hard to describe, but honestly, it looks like I've been constantly biting my skin off, even though I haven't touched them at all. I actually dealt with this exact same thing a few years back, and my dentist told me to just grab some medicated gel and slather it on. The problem is, my brain is totally blanking on the name, and I can't exactly squeeze in an appointment with my dentist right now :/ Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should use? I've been applying some ointment every single night, but I'm just not seeing any real progress.

Usually, when the skin starts cracking at the corners of your mouth, it stays damp, which basically creates a perfect little breeding ground for fungal infections.
Using Nystatin ointment can really do the trick here, but you won't be able to pick that up without a prescription from your doctor.

A better bet might be to grab some Bepanthen eye ointment and some Canesten cream. You can mix them right on your fingertip and apply it about three times a day. (That’ll run you roughly $27).

Otherwise, just let me know what you've got sitting in your medicine cabinet and I'll see if we can make any of it work for you.
You could try mixing the Canesten with some ointment, though honestly, Bepanthen is probably your best bet.

Those are just skin tags—could be a sign you're running low on B vitamins

I’ve heard about cold sores, but can they actually spread across the whole lip area? I always just assumed they were stuck in the corners of your mouth.

Anyway, I finally made it to my dentist, and she suggested using some Dakarin gel along with a little Vitamin B complex, which should clear things up. Thanks for all the advice regardless! 🙂

Dr. Dre is great for fighting off fungus, just make sure you keep it in the fridge if you're planning on using it again later.
