I honestly don't get why some people on chat keep dropping movie suggestions in there when we have a dedicated thread right below it. Then, as soon as everyone starts actually talking about something else, suddenly we're all "trolls" or "off-topic" and ruining the vibe of the chat... it's kind of ridiculous, if you ask me.

If you were trying to say something about the chat or maybe meant to paste a post from someone else, go ahead and drop it in. I'm around... People are dropping movie suggestions right above the actual dedicated thread meant for that stuff... and then once everyone starts getting into other discussions, we get labeled as trolls or accused of off-topic spamming. It’s kind of ridiculous... I'm ready. Send over the posts you need me to rework. I'll make sure they sound like a real person living in the States—casual, a bit dry, and totally original—while following all those specific substitution rules for names and locations. Just drop the text whenever you're set... Man, I don't know about you guys, but the vibe in here is just... off lately. It feels like the energy is totally missing...

It feels way more hipster this way. Plus, they aren't even bothering to suggest movies anymore... shows... There’s actually a separate PDF for that... but honestly, my main gripe here is just how much some people seem to lose their minds when someone else pops into the chat. Like, seriously, chill out...

It mostly just bugs the people who feel like their little perfect bubble has been popped because of a few of us "newcomers."

Stop bringing this up a thousand times. Just write. If you like a topic, engage; if you don't, ignore it. Period.

There’s no such thing as a bad craving, a failed recipe, or just constant whining about how nothing is ever good enough.

Anything related to the world of audiovisual media is more than welcome here; nobody is going to shut down a conversation (though let's call them recommendations rather than debates) about a series, provided you don't drop any spoilers.

But the American films I like now do not come from Hollywood studios but from television series, like 'Mad Men,' 'Breaking Bad,' 'The Americans.' "I like when they last 13 episodes but then there is a new series coming with another 13 episodes," he said, laughing, comparing them to novels printed in installments in 19th century newspapers. "Apart from a few independent productions, i think that everything that comes from Hollywood is generally sad. It makes me very sad." Bernarda Bertolucci

Things really blew up a while back when a user straight-up said the chat had gone downhill— 🙄 —because they got ganged up on by other users, specifically Harper. So, it’s not the actual content that's the issue, it's just the people involved...

So who's doing the banning?

And seriously, why wouldn't you ask for series recommendations in the Series section? Is the PDF moderation film sub too far away or something?...

There aren't any off-topic threads on this chat, and I'm ready to defend that claim all the way to Washington D.C.

briskhound2 said:And why doesn't anyone actually ask for series recommendations on the Series board? Is the PDF moderation film too far away or what?

Because this is just a hangout. The main thread is basically the forum's living room. We don't talk about series as "series," we talk about them as part of our daily lives here. Staying on topic while being off-topic. Complicated, I know.

Besides, why wouldn't people just ask for series recommendations here on the forum? Is the PDF moderation film section just way too far away or something?

🤣

Bertolucci already explained it perfectly enough for you.

I'm too old for this shit.

Matthew Anderson4 said:It’s complicated, I know...

Not even slightly.

It’s basically an on-topic thread inside an off-topic sub-thread that somehow counts as on-topic for the off-topic section itself. The user is asking why something is considered off-topic in an off-topic space when, technically, what's off-topic here could be perfectly on-topic somewhere else... it's just a loop.

Anyway, can someone actually tell me why we don't just head over to the Series board when looking for a new series recommendation?

briskhound2 said:So, can someone please explain to me why we don't go to the Series section when looking for recommendations?

Because credibility matters when you're asking for a recommendation. If I ask in the Series section but I'm actually posting in the Film section, I have no idea who is giving me the advice. That's one way to look at it.

briskhound2 said:Honestly, I’m just sitting here wondering if someone could give me a straight answer as to why nobody ever asks for series recommendations on this forum.

Don't make me laugh. There’s an entire PDF dedicated to just jerking off, so did it ever cross your mind to actually redirect users there instead?

briskhound2 said:This whole thread really started spiraling out of control a while back, right around the moment someone straight-up admitted that the chat had become a total train wreck. 🙄 It turns out he just got targeted by some other users, specifically Harper. So, the content itself isn't actually the issue here; it's just the people involved.

A few people, maybe four or five users, have already pointed out that the new one... cinematic Look, let's be real for a second. This chat is a total mess right now. It’s got nothing to do with Harper, honestly. People aren't just complaining for the sake of it; they're actually mourning the old days when this place felt like a real community—you know, where you could actually have a decent conversation or walk away having learned something useful instead of just wading through the noise.

It’s probably a good idea to give everyone a heads-up every single time they take that sharp turn onto the bypass. 😁

Honestly, I think your reply actually saved those people I was asking about 😁

If we were talking about masturbation as much as we talk about series, I'd be putting up neon blue signs with yellow bulbs to point the way...

A whole group of us—maybe 4 or 5 people—all agreed that the new movie chat is basically dead in the water. It’s not even about Harper, it’s just that people remember when this chat was actually good... had actual quality discussions, a place where you could actually pick up something useful.

You're kidding me, right?

horatius said:Good grief, man... what has this chat turned into? 😕

horatius said:Well, it turned into you, plus a few others. Anyway, peace out, I'm done here. ☕

From what I can see, people are just annoyed because Harper is in the chat (along with a couple of others). It's got nothing to do with the content itself—it's just the users...

And honestly, the people complaining about all this only started whining once that wave of new users arrived—people who never used to post here (myself included). So, yeah... the influx of new forum members is actually what sent this chat straight to hell...

Just riding the late-night waves in the chat topic! 🙂

Honestly, it feels like they just do it to feel important, acting all high and mighty by dropping comments about how much better the chat used to be—blah blah blah—when really, we're always just talking about the same old nonsense anyway. 😁

briskhound2 said:From what I can see, people are just getting annoyed because Harper is in the chat (along with a few others). It’s got absolutely nothing to do with what’s being said, it’s just about the users themselves. It’s purely user-based frustration, not content-based..

**bold - I'm with you on that.** 👍

It's exactly like when a bunch of new kids show up to a local basketball court, and they play just as well as the regulars who have been there forever. And then suddenly, everyone starts complaining about how "real" basketball was played back in the day. 😂

The chat is pretty much the only thread that can't go totally south unless someone starts posting explicit stuff, like that one person did—I can't even remember who, but whatever, it doesn't matter.

Well, obviously they were complaining about the "quality" of the chatter, because let's be real, the chat has tanked harder than it ever has before. You guys were busy tearing a girl to shreds, you call Loureeth a hipster, and then there was that whole mess with the internet connection where someone basically drew him a neon yellow map in chalk to explain that you can't just pay your way into faster speeds. Not that he listened, of course; he just kept blowing his own trumpet.

You haven't just ruined the vibe; you're well on your way to trolling the whole thing into oblivion.

But hey, he just keeps shouting into the void anyway.

You haven't just dragged him through the mud; you're halfway to turning him into a conspiracy theory.

Come on, give me a break... So what, because she made one first little jab, that makes it all okay?
Heaven forbid she had a broken fingernail or something from the sheer stress of dealing with us...

Hey briskhound2, you should tell him where the off-topic stuff was actually being mentioned! There isn't any off-topic chatter in this chat—I already pointed that out back in the winter over at PZK, so feel free to go dig through it if you don't believe me... Honestly, it was you guys moderators who were the ones flagging certain little comments as off-topic in the first place! 🙂

briskhound2 said:Seriously though—if someone actually tries to tell me why people don't go to SeriesHub for show recommendations... I mean, really?!...

Already answered—and honestly, was there even a point in asking? It’s as easy as pie... If someone like 593/Family/Media/Lou Reed/OGM recommends a series or a movie, I should probably know exactly what I'm getting into by now!

P.S. ... First!... She totally stirred the pot...She totally baited him—I’m telling you, she did!... 🙂

P. P. S. "Pi...šComing along with you? ... 🤔 🤷
