briskhound2 said:Seriously, can someone explain why nobody bothers asking for series recommendations on the Series boards?

The people over there have zero credibility, and I simply don't have the patience for these little experiments...

I'm heading off to watch Top of the Lake because I actually trust the Family. That's that...

briskhound2 said:It seems like users are getting worked up just because Harper is in the chat (along with a few others). It has absolutely nothing to do with the actual content, just the users themselves...

And those users complaining about all this only started making noise once a wave of new people arrived who had never even posted here before (myself included). Essentially, the influx of new forum members is what actually caused the chat to descend into such a mess...

You're wrong; it has nothing to do with Harper...

I've been chased away from the movie impression threads by three or four new female users who frantically recount entire plots without a single SPOILER warning, genuinely believing that retelling a story is the same thing as writing a review...

Christian Taylor3 said:Of course they were whining about the "quality" of that babbling, the chat basically hit rock bottom like never before...

Look, it's a chat. Let me repeat that... c-h-a-t. Just because you have this preconceived notion that writing about cool albums somehow equals "quality"... it doesn't. For some people, it’s just a sign of boredom—one of the main reasons they avoided coming here in the first place.

You guys insulted a girl to her face,

Me? I'm gonna need some proof for that...

You're calling Lou Reed a hipster,

Me? Again, please provide some evidence...

like that unfortunate internet situation; you draw him a bright, neon yellow line with chalk saying speed increases aren't possible through payment. All for nothing, he just keeps honking his horn.

I have absolutely no clue what we're even talking about here.

You haven't just tanked it, you're well on your way to trolling it into oblivion.

You seem to be forgetting one pretty vital fact: a chat like this only exists because the moderators feel like keeping it alive. This kind of pressure—pushing elitism, calling out users, publicly deciding who does what in (emphasis on *C-H-A-T*) and what should be done—can very easily lead to a solution that wipes all these problems out entirely...

God forbid she had a nervous breakdown or something while dealing with us...

She didn't provoke anyone. The fact that you're blaming her just shows how deep-seated your sexism goes. That's one thing. There's more to it. 😉

Look, I’m telling you, this whole elitist attitude makes me want to lose my mind. I don't play those games—I can look anyone here straight in the eye. I don't have some pathetic "ignore list" like half the users on here seem to crave just to feel important.
It’s nothing but pure insecurity and being unable to handle people. There’s a difference between lighthearted ribbing and just being a jerk, but some of these people take it way too far. At the end of the day, it’s all just a desperate attempt to suck up to the right people.

I honestly feel bad that this chat has devolved into what it is today—it’s driven away all the constructive voices, like Terry Scott34, who had to go find a better community over in the Literature forum, where they drop high-quality content on a daily basis.

Ugh, honestly, it’s just constant negativity and everyone bickering at each other... I mean, is it really that much to ask for people to just agree to be positive so everything stays chill? 🤷 Let's try bringing a little more flexibility and understanding to the table, shall we? 👍

Today I'm heading out to catch The Last Supper (2012) on the big screen! 👋

Totally. image

If only he could actually explain how those two things even connect! And I don't get the logic behind that comparison, since the stuff on Literature has been intentionally ridiculous from the start so... you can't really pine for "better days" when it's always been like this...

Terry Scott34 says:

If they could actually explain the connection between those two—which they can't. And the logic behind this comparison is flawed; what happened in Literature was intentional regression from the start... so there isn't much point crying about "better, bygone eras."

The eras of Cyn, Week, and even Silajn were far superior than any qualitative shift we've seen on this chat.

There is such a thing as high-quality intentional regression—like what we saw with Vočko—and then there is pure garbage, which is exactly what you two and the associate members are producing over at N/A.

It’s just insecurity and intolerance. There’s a difference between light teasing and being genuinely obnoxious, but some people take it way too far, and when you peel back the layers, it’s really just about seeking approval.

The reality is that we used to have much deeper film experts posting here. Setting aside what kind of user someone is, just think back to Media Blitz, Pacifist, Mabuse (who ended up getting banned), I think Red f was the one asking for a ban, and then there were others like Lou, Androlog, Familia, Terry Scott34, and a few more. They aren't posting as much now simply because Today's PDF has declined in quality. As someone who tries to stay neutral, I see it clearly, and I know plenty of silent readers who agree. Even you are an interesting contributor to this forum; you watch such a wide variety of movies and write engaging reviews, even if that crowd gives you a hard time sometimes. 😁

Today's PDF is absolutely saturated with blockbusters, which I don't necessarily mind—they can be good—but there are just way too many mainstream themes dominating the space now. We’re missing that deep, high-quality cinematic content. It has shrunk significantly.

All those people I mentioned are true connoisseurs of cinema history. And calling that out isn't about being a film snob. In fact, it's the current crop of users who earn that label by refusing to accept any criticism. Let's be real: receiving a critique shouldn't be something that shakes your entire world.

northerncrane4 said:The days when Cyn, Week, unde, and Silajn were around—man, those were just way better... the quality gap between then and this chat right now is huge.

Plus, you've got people being intentionally annoying—like how someone might troll on Reddit—versus actual total garbage, which is pretty much what you two and the other regulars are doing over at Raspašoj.

Oh, let me rephrase that—my bad! I'll fix it; sorry I didn't just draw it out and color it in for you. 🙂
Since when did people even start writing stuff on this chat anyway?
Can I actually hear the logic connecting these two cases? I highly doubt it...

What part of this isn't clicking—how on earth can you compare two different chat threads on a "Culture and entertainment" PDF?

Hey there! 🙂
The literature chat had been completely humiliated for years, and honestly, it was high time the two of us decided to jump back in and have a little fun with it. It’s hard to argue that our joking around actually damaged anything, considering the chat hasn't seen any real action in ages. If anything, that literature chat is probably the most lively part of that dead, tedious PDF you manage alongside Haralampije.

I also have to wonder, where are all those forum regulars you praise so much? Why did they stop showing up to the chat on your PDF—did they all suddenly decide to vanish just now, right when Terry Scott34 and I supposedly ruined everything?

The literature chat had been dead for years—until the two of us decided to revive it just to mess around a bit. And logically speaking, our little jokes couldn't possibly ruin the chat itself since, again, nobody has used it in ages.

It’s like finding some secluded cove in the Florida Keys that hasn't seen a boat in a decade—then a friend and I show up and start using it as a dumping ground for our yacht's waste. Without us, that cove would stay pristine.

Jamie Davis9 said:Also, where are all those forum members you praise so much? Why aren't they posting in the chat on your PDF moderation film site anymore?

Life scattered them across the country.

This line of reasoning is highly telling—trying to justify your own garbage by citing things that have nothing to do with it. The question isn't why Silajn, Cyn, or the various Week regulars are gone from the forum; the question is why you and your staff feel such a desperate need to produce trash in the first place. That’s the real issue, honey. Solving a problem properly requires identifying its actual source.

Look, I honestly don't get what the big deal is. Between work and everything else, I'm pulling something like 420 hours of night shifts a month lately—it's killing me. Hehe. I really don't see why everyone is so worked up. Let's just lay out what people actually dislike and what their ideas are. Just endlessly venting about frustrations isn't going to solve anything...

northerncrane4 said:There’s this little cove out near the Florida Keys that hasn't seen a soul in years, at least until my buddy and I stumbled upon it and decided to make it our regular spot to dump the waste from our boat. Honestly, if it weren't for us showing up, that whole bay would probably just rot away into nothingness.

No, that island out in the Keys has been a complete disaster for years anyway, so a few pieces of filth from you and your buddy would just vanish instantly into the massive pile of garbage already accumulating there.
And that’s just it—this whole mess is exactly what happens when you hand over the keys to those responsible for maintaining a tiny island off the coast of Maine.

northerncrane4 said:Life has scattered them all across the country.

This line of reasoning is incredibly telling—attempting to justify pure garbage by bringing up things that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual issue. The real question isn't why Silajn, Cyn, or the Week regulars have vanished from the forum; the real question is why you and your supporting staff feel such an intense, inexplicable need to produce such low-quality trash in the first place. That’s the real question here, dear. You see, true problem-solving only happens when you actually identify the root cause instead of dancing around it.

That isn't actually the case; he just redirected them to some other PDF moderation films.
And honestly, nothing that the staff or I have posted in the chat comes anywhere close to being as crude, malicious, or downright primitive as your last few entries, Moderator. 🙂

Sexism? No way... I treat everyone on this forum—and honestly, everyone in my life—exactly the same.
But look, if someone starts talking down to me like they're my boss, that’s a totally different story. That's got nothing to do with sexism.

You have no idea how much my buddy and I are capable of when it comes to fighting.
Jamie Davis9 said:And that, honey, is the fault of those entrusted with maintaining that tiny coastal island.

Right, because personal responsibility is clearly a non-existent concept here.

Jamie Davis9 said:But it isn't—they took them to other PDF moderation films.

Really? Please, enlighten me—which PDF moderation films mention Week, Cyn, or Silajn?

Jamie Davis9 said:And another thing, nothing we two and the staff wrote in the chat comes anywhere close to being as crude, malicious, or primitive as your last few posts, moderator. 🙂

Primitive? In what way are my posts "primitive"? Besides, I’m not even claiming your posts are what you describe mine to be. Your posts are simply garbage. I find it incredibly rude to intentionally clog one chat with trash, only to come to another one crying about the good old days.

I suppose that's about right.
northerncrane4 said:Oh, please. As if personal responsibility is even a real concept anymore.

Look, I am perfectly willing to take full accountability for my own mess, but I have to ask—are you actually prepared to step up and own yours?
northerncrane4 said:Could you please point me toward which PDFs contain the posts from Week, Cyan, and Slayn?

I honestly don't even know where to begin with you.

northerncrane4 said:Primitive? How exactly are my posts primitive? I’m not even claiming yours are anything like what you're describing mine to be; frankly, your contributions are just pure garbage. I find it incredibly rude when one thread is intentionally flooded with trash while another is used by people to constantly whine about the good old days.

It’s honestly quite primitive how you attempt to force this level of communication on us by constantly dragging filth and sewage into discussions about the two of us; it is frankly vulgar and distasteful. A man of your age really ought to have learned by now that there are far more sophisticated ways to express an opinion without resorting to such gutter language.
I know our posts aren't inherently primitive. If they come across as garbage, it’s only because they serve as a perfect reflection of what this entire forum has devolved into, so we’re just leaning into the joke. It isn't causing any real damage since we aren't actually hurting anyone. Do you honestly think the high-quality discussions we used to have are being jeopardized by this? Just cut us off and move us to a separate thread, or don't move us anywhere at all—just delete the content. Do whatever you want, but please, just moderate properly. Just don't act like a coward by swooping in like this without giving us a heads-up that you didn't want our nonsense cluttering up your PDF moderation movie.
Nobody shed a tear for those wonderful days we used to have, even though we all voiced our frustrations hoping things might actually start looking up. Personally, I felt the need to mourn them immediately and offer an apology, mostly because I don't consider myself such a high-and-mighty member of this forum that I should be pointing fingers at anyone else—not that I think they’re the ones to blame, either. But if I still believe that the movie chat used to be a great place to hang out while it certainly isn't anymore, am I really not allowed to say that?
