About the track:

Back in 2008, the Singapore Grand Prix stormed into Formula 1 with this massive, flashy entrance as the first-ever night race in the history of the sport. You had the moon, the stars, and these insane cars screaming through the heart of downtown, and honestly, it was enough to make even Bernie Ecclestone sign a five-year deal with the organizers just to get a piece of this unique spectacle.



The lighting setup is absolutely nuts—we're talking 1,485 individual light elements, each pumping out 2,000 W, all spread out along the track on 240 steel poles across 1,500 different spots. The total installed power from all those floodlights hits a staggering 3,180,000 W, and they actually used over 108,423 kilometers of electrical cabling just to hook everything up to 12 different generators.



With all that power and the sheer number of reflectors, they’ve managed to ensure every single inch of this street circuit hits about 3000 lux, which is basically four times brighter than what you'd see at any modern American football stadium.



It took the organizers three whole months just to get all those lights mounted. They were super careful about where they put them so they wouldn't blind the drivers or cause some annoying glare off the smooth surfaces, and they even had to account for how the light hits that fine mist of water spray kicked up by the tires if it starts raining.

No clue, but word on the street is that the stretch between turns 5 and 7 is the most likely spot☕😳

It only makes sense to them if they combine it with the start and finish line. 🤷

I mean, come on, the Singapore Grand Prix is always some kind of chaotic mess, just constant nonsense and drama 🤷

I’ve got a gut feeling this year is going to be just as insane 😳

Tires are everything... honestly, the whole race just hinges on whether an SC pops out and how often. ☕Maybe some rain could stir things up, but then you're looking at visibility issues and how much of the race gets swallowed by an SC. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a backup SC ready to go once the first one runs out of fuel.

I fully anticipate that the second driver for one particular outfit will kiss the wall, triggering an unnecessary SC right after their lead driver has just finished a pit stop. 😁
Of course, we’ll be talking about that star driver and a team with massive expectations that consistently fails to deliver on them—all while the second driver finds his seat getting increasingly shaky. 😁

Then again, we’ve seen this pattern before. I have a backup set of expectations: Sebastian Vettel defending his title, Jenson Button outperforming Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso beating Felipe Massa, Michael Schumacher being faster than Robert Kubica, and perhaps Massa actually managing to beat Timo Glock. 🙏 😁

I’m really crossing my fingers that we see some kind of new Pique emerge, though I guess I’m probably hoping for it more than actually expecting it 😬 , and honestly, I think the rain could turn out to be such an incredibly wild card for this night race 😁

If it rains, the race is toast. Nighttime plus rain just doesn't mix well 😢

Oh, I don't think we're looking at much rain at all, maybe not even a proper downpour, just a tiny bit, you know, just enough to dampen the track a little bit. Just enough for Mr. 🙂

I’m honestly worried they'll call the race after just three drops of rain. If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that there's zero chance they'll allow a night race if it starts pouring, mostly because of the light reflections and all that nonsense.🙄

I've got a bad feeling we're getting absolutely nothing out of that.
