Bullet to the Head

Just a few weeks after Arnold's The Last Stand hits theaters, we’ve got a new Sly flick coming our way—an action movie called >. It’s based on that French comic *Lead in the Head* and directed by Walter Hill, the guy behind The Warriors and Red Heat.

The cast features Stallone alongside Sung Kang (from the Fast and Furious series), Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Conan, Game of Thrones), and Christian Slater. The US premiere is set for February 1st.

The story follows a hitman (Stallone) who teams up with a young NYPD detective (Sung Kang) to get revenge for their fallen partners. Naturally, they're going to have to deal with some heavy hitters like Khal Drogo / Conan Simerijac / Ronon Dex along the way. 😁

Honestly, I think producer Joel Silver kind of messed this one up. He decided to bring in Sung Kang instead of the original choice, Thomas Jane, just to try and "broaden the appeal." Total amateur move.

You actually beat me to it 😁 Honestly, this whole move with Jane is such a lame call that Silver went straight onto my shit list because of it. Seriously, screw chasing the box office at the expense of actual quality...

Alright, so now you can go ahead and start a dedicated thread for Universal Soldier 4. 😁

I'm with you on that. The only way this gets better is if Stallone brings Jane in for The Expendables 3. Just imagine a showdown with Dolph Lundgren vs. Jane (basically two Punishers XD, all we need is Ray Stevenson).

Man, oh man, Jason Momoa! I am seriously living for this epic showdown between him and Stallone—it’s giving me those same vibes I had when I was waiting for that Vin Diesel vs The Rock scrap in Fast Five. 🙂

I mean, sure, Jason is still pretty much just starting out, but honestly? With a physique like that, I think he’s got a massive future ahead of him in action movies... maybe even a new Jason Statham in the making... 😁

Major respect to Thomas, though. They really could have cast him in something else, but hey, I guess that's just how it goes.

p.s.
I’m getting more and more hyped for all this stuff coming up in 2013—The Last Stand, The Tomb, Bullet to the Head, Riddick, Machete Kills, Universal Soldier 4...
it's gonna be wild 👍

Honestly, nothing special here. It felt like I was watching some mediocre Seagal direct-to-video flick. They absolutely killed Stallone's performance; this is way below the bar set by his earlier stuff. Even the psychological depth and the emotional connection with his daughter felt totally lifeless—it was like he was on morphine or something. And let’s be real, Kang isn't doing anything better either. Momoa does a decent enough job, but even Walter Hill has had much brighter moments when working in this genre. For comparison, Snitch is a significantly better watch if you haven't seen it yet, whereas you can skip this one entirely without missing a beat.

I caught this one while it was still playing in theaters. Stallone is actually way better than most people give him credit for here—he’s actually playing a character instead of just being himself, which is a nice change of pace.
The vibe is spot on, and the action sequences? Absolutely killer.
Jason Momoa is fantastic too; he plays this hitman with a real sense of honor that works perfectly.
"Bullet to the Head" isn't exactly a cinematic masterpiece, but it’s a solid action flick. Honestly, we need more movies like this setting the bar.

this flick is total trash. that guy was a huge miss, honestly. the only part worth watching was when he just coldly guns down Slater. at least Jason Momoa plays a solid villain
.
Compared to this, The Last Stand is actually awesome, yeah

Man, what an absolute blast of an action flick. 🙂

Honestly, it’s such a breath of fresh air for the genre, isn't it? It’s exactly the kind of high-octane ride an action movie is supposed to be.

Momoa is just phenomenal playing the villain, and Stallone is as great as ever—plus, those fight scenes and explosions were totally top-tier.

Give me the lowdown on at least one killer action scene from that flick, since I'm drawing a total blank on them...

Right at the start—there's that scrap between Momoe and Stallone in the restroom.

Then there's the part where Momoa walks into a bar and just tears everyone apart.

And finally, the big showdown at the end.

That last scene hits the spot, I'm with you there, but the editing is such a mess otherwise—it could've been killer

This movie doesn't even reach the level of mediocre.

I mean, I don't really know what people expect from a movie starring Stallone... just relax, head to the theater, and look for a good time. That’s pretty much it. There's a ton of dialogue that feels a bit forced, but hey, that's just part of the fun. 🙂

I'm really hoping for some brutal, creative action paired with solid directing and editing, but honestly, this movie is missing all of that.

And some guy is here, I guess, just to drone on about mobile tech possibilities, which is probably why Jane was cut—he wouldn't have been believable, y'know? ugh

Just your classic action flick—no unnecessary sentimentality, just some gritty, unapologetic humor...
I'm feeling pretty good about it...

Caught that movie last night—it was actually pretty solid, packed with both action and some great laughs. My only gripe? I really wish they’d gone with Thomas Jane instead of that "samurai" (as Sly calls him in the flick 😁) from Fast and Furious.
