I'm looking for some help, and please feel free to move this if I've picked the wrong sub.
I'll try to keep this brief. I've had urine cultures, full gynecological exams, and abdominal ultrasounds. Everything supposedly comes back normal, so I'm at a loss for what to do next.
These symptoms have been going on for about two or three months. It felt like a bladder infection, but apparently not, though I am waiting on one more culture result.
The pain isn't constant; it just hits periodically, and I can't seem to find a pattern. There is vaginal pain and a sensation of pressure that gets worse after I pee. It’s a dull ache, bad enough that I have to curl up while sitting. I can't really describe it any better. It usually subsides if I drink some cranberry juice, then things stay quiet for days or even weeks. Lately, it has flared up after intercourse, which didn't used to happen.
My doctors suggested testing for HP because the symptoms might overlap. If it isn't that, they want me to see a urologist. I don't have stomach issues or a fever, just bouts of weakness and chronic fatigue. Since I have low blood pressure, I wonder if HP could be a factor. I would appreciate any ideas or advice, because this is becoming exhausting. My tests say I'm healthy, yet the pain is intense enough to make me cry sometimes. To be fair, I have dealt with an incredibly stressful period lately—probably the most stressful ever—so maybe that's it.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

I'm 24 years old and dealing with some fatigue lately. I've lost about 20 pounds over the last few months and have been experiencing heart palpitations—though my EKG, Holter monitor, and echocardiogram all came back normal. My doctor suspects this might be tied to my anxiety disorder (I am on antidepressants), but I wanted to run some blood work just to rule out anything else.
For the past two days, I've been using hydrocortisone cream on areas where I get sun allergies.
I see how my cholesterol looks 🙄 even though I eat quite healthily, and of course, the elevated white blood cell count is worrying me. I don't have any obvious signs of inflammation that would cause them to jump.
Basically, if anyone could help me interpret these results—is this mostly fine, or should I be concerned and look into more testing? I would be so grateful for your insight! 🙏

Ten days ago, I was hit with a sudden, severe bladder infection—there was even visible blood in my urine. I started on a course of Amoxicillin that same day, which I just finished a few days back. I checked my urinalysis today, and the results show protein, 15-20 leukocytes, and some bacteria. What does this actually mean? I'm particularly concerned about the protein... shouldn't the infection have cleared up by now given the antibiotics? On top of that, there’s a chance I might be pregnant, and I have no idea how much damage this inflammation could cause.

The working theory is that it's all anxiety-related (I'm on antidepressants), but I had blood work done just to rule out anything else.
For the last two days, I've been using topical steroid cream on the areas where I get sun allergies.
My cholesterol levels are what they are 🙄 despite eating healthy, but naturally, those elevated white blood cell counts have me worried. I don't have any obvious signs of inflammation that would cause them to spike.
Anyway, if anyone could help me interpret this—is this result roughly okay, or should I be genuinely concerned and head in for more testing? I would be so grateful for some insight. 🙏

Are you having any trouble urinating?
It might be worth getting a UTI test.

Also, there's a chance I might be pregnant, and I'm worried about how much this infection could hurt the baby.

That means there is some protein present in your urine.
It would be wise to get a UTI test and a urine sediment analysis, making sure to follow proper hygiene before providing a clean sample.

It might even be possible in the USA.

I don't have any issues, though I do find myself going quite infrequently, even though I stay well-hydrated (about 2-3 times a day)—is that even relevant? I dealt with E. coli years ago and struggle with frequent UTIs, but right now, everything feels fine. 🤷
Thanks for the response, vividsailor7, you're a lifesaver! 🙂

So, I just went in for some blood work, and here’s what came back:

Lymphocytes - 61.1% (Ref range: 19-52)
GGT - 30 U/L (Ref range: 10-27)

Everything else seems to be totally fine, but I had a nasty case of strep throat about ten days ago, and even after finishing a seven-day round of antibiotics, my right tonsil still feels... off, at least according to how it feels on my end. Aside from sounding a bit nasal when I talk, I don't really have any other symptoms 🙂.
Do you guys think this could be mono? 🤷

Thanks for the reply, vividsailor7, you're the absolute best! 🙂

You need to be drinking at least 2.5 liters of fluid a day, plus urological teas, cranberry juice, or similar stuff.

Could this be mononucleosis? 🤷

Is it seriously that hard to just read the original post?

My bad, honestly. I was over at the Mayo Clinic getting checked out, and after they did a quick blood smear under the microscope, it looks like I’ve got mononucleosis—though for me, it seems to be one of those milder versions. They also drew some blood for more extensive testing, but apparently, I have to wait like ten or fourteen days for the results to come back. So, I was just wondering, what kind of tests are they actually running? Is it to pin down the specific virus or something else entirely?

Is it to identify the specific virus or something else?

Sir,

When a sore throat, fever, and fatigue persist beyond a week—and in your case, much longer—mono becomes a primary suspect.

To confirm the diagnosis, you need serology. Essentially, they are checking for antibodies against various triggers of mononucleosis. While Epstein-Barr is the usual culprit, it could also be cytomegalovirus (CMV) or something else entirely.

I'm not sure if they’ve already run a CBC, LDH, or CRP for you?

Maria Fisher46 said:Hi there,

if you're dealing with a sore throat, a fever, and just feeling totally wiped out for more than a week—and in your case, it sounds like way longer than that—you really ought to consider if it might be mono.

To get a definitive answer, you’d need to run some serology tests, basically checking for various antibodies that show up when you've been hit by whatever causes mononucleosis. Usually, it's the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), though it could be cytomegalovirus (CMV) or something else entirely.

I'm not sure if you've had a CBC, LDH, or CRP checked yet?

Anyway, I'll just type out today's lab results right here:

CRP 2.1 L 7.4 (seg 25 ly 61 mo 10 eo 4 ba 3)% e 5,12 Hb 146 Hct 0.43
MCV 85 Trc 223 AST 27 ALT 32 GGT 30 AP 87.

Microscopic CBC - (seg 26 ly 47 ly areakt 13 mo 14)%
serology EBV;CMV

Yeah, everything is exactly like that on the paperwork I just picked up.🤷

Microscopic CBC - (seg 26 ly 47 ly reactive 13 mo 14)%
EBV/CMV serology

Everything matches exactly what is printed on the report I received.🤷

Yes, certain markers point toward a viral infection—specifically mononucleosis. This is suggested by the elevated lymphocyte count paired with the presence of reactive lymphocytes seen under microscopic examination.

Furthermore, the clinical symptoms you detailed in the "sore throat" thread (the sore throat with tonsillar exudate and that nasal quality to your voice—a symptom rarely noted, though apparently quite common) lean toward infectious mononucleosis.

Once the serology comes back (since those tests were ordered), we will have a definitive answer.

For now, the indicators suggest mono; typically, the strain caused by CMV presents a milder picture.

Best regards. 🙂

I was wondering if anyone here with some medical expertise might be willing to weigh in on my recent blood work. I went in for some coagulation tests, and these were the results:
prothrombin time 0.93 norm. >0.70
prothrombin time INR 1.04 norm. <1.12 INR
aptt 26 norm. 20-30sec
APTT ratio 0.98 norm 0.80-1.20
fibrinogen 4.0 norm 1.8-3.5 g/L
protein C 100.70 norm 70.00-140.00 %

Specifically, I’m curious about the fibrinogen level—is a value this high considered dangerous? 😢

Just to provide a bit of context, I am not pregnant.
I had these labs done simply as part of a routine checkup before starting birth control.

Thank you so much.

Laura Ward98 said:Can anyone weigh in on this? I just got back from my blood work to check my coagulation levels. Here are the results:
My prothrombin time came back at 0.93, while the normal range starts at anything over 0.70.
INR Prothrombin Time: 1.04 (Normal range: My APTT came back at 26 seconds. The lab says the normal range is between 20 and 30. So, everything looks fine on paper, I guess.
My APTT came back at 0.98, with the normal range sitting between 0.80 and 1.20. Looks like I'm right in the middle of the pack.
So, I just got my latest labs back, and I’m staring at this fibrinogen level: 4.0 g/L. Now, looking at the standard reference range they provided—which sits between 1.8 and 3.5—it’s pretty clear that I am sitting well above the norm. Is anyone else seeing numbers like this? It feels like my blood is basically turning into sludge. I’m trying to make sense of why this is spiked, but honestly, seeing a value that high right out of the gate is enough to get my blood boiling. It's frustrating when you're looking for answers and all you get is a number that screams "something is off."
Protein C came back at 100.70%, which falls right within the normal range of 70.00–140.00%. Looks like we're all clear on that front.

Is an elevated fibrinogen level actually dangerous, or is it just one of those things doctors obsess over? I need some clarity here. 😢

I am not pregnant.
They ran some blood work first—just standard baseline testing before I started on any kind of birth control.

Thanks.

Weight and height? Give me the stats.
Has anyone else been hit by a massive wave of illness lately? I mean, seriously, has anyone here been dealing with something acute recently?

Could someone maybe take a look at these organic acid urine test results for a three-year-old? I guess there aren't any obvious symptoms or health issues right now. These were done at a lab in New York.

bacterial metabolites: ref.

4oh phenylactate 199 (20-84)
3, 4oh phenilpropenoate 16,6 (2-15)
4oh phenyl propionate 0.21 (>0.1)
glicerate 36,2 (8-20)

sulfur metabolism
gGLU-CIS/CIS-GLY ratio 0,6 (0,2-0,4)

urinary creatinin 1 754 mg/l (this part is kind of worrying since I read online that for younger kids it should be closer to 270mg/l)

I haven't had any major illnesses recently, no. My CBC and other blood work results came back fine—everything looks standard, though my sodium is running a little low, albeit still within the normal range. I am a smoker, though.

Hey, I’m posting this for a friend who doesn't have internet access, so I might be missing some details, but...
Just a heads-up, she's 22 and went in for blood work because she's been dealing with dizziness and nausea lately (pregnancy isn't an issue here)
Here is the part that's worrying her:

Serum Iron 12.4 (ref. range 8.0-30.0)
UIBC 31.4 (ref. range 26.0-59.0)
TIBC 43.8 (ref. range 49.0-75.0)

She asked me to find out what TIBC actually is and how she can get those numbers up. Thanks in advance...

I haven't had any acute illnesses. My CBC and other biochemical panels came back normal, except for sodium which is slightly low but still within the normal range. I am a smoker.

Smoking combined with being overweight is most likely what's driving that elevated fibrinogen level.
