Not quite right, but since the thread was irredeemably derailed, I locked it last night to prevent further nonsense from making it pointless by just deleting posts or archiving it.

I don't typically moderate locked threads, so I missed the reports regarding this specific topic. However, I have gone ahead and edited that one offensive post. A quick DM would have been faster, honestly.

I don't usually moderate threads once they've been locked, so I guess I missed the reports regarding this specific topic... though I did go back and edit out the offensive part of that post myself. You could have just sent me a direct message, which probably would have cleared everything up much faster...

Just one more thing I wanted to ask, if it isn't too much trouble... if certain content isn't allowed, why wasn't the whole thread archived instead of just deleting the problematic section? Besides, I'm pretty sure I reported that offending post at least twice before the whole thing got locked up in the first place.

I tend to avoid using DMs for moderation matters because I really don't want to clutter up anyone's "personal inbox" with what I consider "business business"... I figure even moderators deserve a little bit of, well, let's call it privacy and some peace and quiet, especially in their private messages...

A guy recently called me an idiot and a moron 😁 so I reported his post. Then—get this—I reported him again the very next day. After that, a moderator reached out to ask if I was really insisting on getting that post punished. 🤣 I just gave her a shrug and said no, since obviously the post hadn't been banned yet. 🙏

Exactly. That’s why I had to follow up twice just to get a response from the mods—and when they finally did reply, it was like, "Are you insisting we issue a penalty?" 🙏 🤣 Give me a break. It's not my job to insist on anything; it's the moderator's job to actually enforce the rules. If the handbook says insults result in a specific point deduction, there shouldn't be some poll asking the reporter if they *really* want the rule applied. Just follow the rules and move on.

Maybe I'm just out of the loop on this new "we don't punish ad hominem, but attacking arguments is fair game" policy or whatever they're doing now.

Honestly, this matters enough that I’d probably file a formal complaint if I could. Right now, the whole thing just feels messy and confusing—not exactly a fun time. I've finally learned my lesson about wasting breath on people who don't know what they're talking about or just flat-out lie; I'll just take my sign, walk away, and stop engaging on this sub altogether. Just give me a discount at Fashion Week instead—I mean, seriously, fashion! 🤣 —I'm not really a fan of using anything other than Internet Explorer, and I save Incognito for my trips to Pornhub. Come on, Daniel Ward87, let me be a good guy here, I swear. I really need to pick up a new handbag, and there's nowhere else to go but Fashion Week.

Daniel Ward87, I am a moderator here. Michelle Alvarez8 and I discussed this via private message—and per her request, copies of those messages were sent to Tyndall—so I didn't intend to weigh in publicly when he brought it up, but an explanation is necessary.

The thread and the disciplinary actions can be found here. As you can see, Michelle Alvarez8 chose to continue the argument immediately after my warning was issued; consequently, she received a strike, as did the individual who replied to her.
No one was penalized prior to the warning. The post containing the insult occurred just before the warning was given and certainly warranted a strike, but Michelle Alvarez8 also earned her penalty through several posts preceding the warning (do try to read the previous entries). This has all been explained, which is why I asked if he insisted on someone receiving a retroactive penalty, since he hadn't posted anything following the warning itself.
In short, Michelle Alvarez8's strike was well-deserved. Whether the other user should also receive one is for you to decide.

Sorry, that wasn't an argument—it was a debate. And honestly? I was the only one actually bringing anything to the table. I took your warning as a public call-out for someone who just stormed into the thread with a few ad hominem attacks—not directed at me or my conversation partner. We both already agreed he was just talking nonsense, right? Besides, the rules say insults get you penalized, not that people get warned. How am I the one getting a card just for calling out lies and stupidity when the guy who called me a moron and an idiot walks away scot-free? 😕

You can't really justify missing this by saying "Michelle Alvarez8 deserved a card earlier"—because besides the fact that you're basically using one mistake to excuse another, that same Michelle Alvarez8 wasn't attacking people, she was attacking the actual arguments. Isn't that kind of the whole point of a forum discussion?

First off, this kind of "fine, if you want me to ban him, I'll ban you too" hair-splitting—it always ends badly. It’s a slippery slope.

Second, if saying "you guys are writing idiocy again" isn't considered an insult (which, according to Tyndall's own guidelines, it isn't), then saying "you're writing nonsense" shouldn't be treated as an insult either.

The whole point wasn't even about putting Tyndall in the loop via private message to see if my ban was justified—it was more about showing the lady moderator that I’m not just talking nonsense, you know? I actually back my points up with real experience. I only post the mindless stuff over on Fashion or MK.

It’s not the person being insulted who’s at fault—and it’s certainly not the one posting nonsense. The real issue? It's the person reporting the insult just to point out how someone else is spreading lies. Seriously. 😁 🙏 🙏

Like I mentioned before, I didn't take that warning personally since I was actually making points, not throwing insults. I know exactly what I wrote, how I said it, and what my intentions were—I wasn't talking nonsense and I definitely wasn't being abusive. So, you can try to spin it however you want, but I really don't care. Just because someone tries to gaslight me doesn't mean I'll suddenly believe I'm wrong when I know I'm not.

The bottom line is this: for the second time this month, ad hominem attacks against me are getting a free pass. 👋
