partial ban, over on the "natural science" subforum.

I hear your complaint, but the moderator's decision is final and won't be changing.

I just want to point you back to that specific thread where we gave you your "last" warning:

Your response at the time was this:

Take a look at the date there: January 23, 2012.

Even after that warning, you just kept doing your own thing—straight-up trolling without mercy. I really hope you're doing it on purpose, because if you aren't, then you're just someone who genuinely doesn't know any better, which is honestly the worst kind of person to deal with...

Just to illustrate the point, let's look at these two posts (truthfully, your post here should have earned you a ban, but we decided to give you a pass):

shadoworca3 gave you a very polite response here: but apparently, that wasn't enough for you, so you doubled down with: "The question was whether it's moving or standing still.". 😵

And it doesn't stop there; if we dig a little deeper, we find this: and this one too:

You are actively sabotaging these discussions and driving other people away. Members of this community have actually complained that they can't have a decent conversation because of your posts. It feels like nothing can be explained to you, and you just keep pushing your own agenda even when you're clearly wrong.

I rest my case.

We went through all that trouble filing complaints and practically begging you to stop, even going as far as warning you about the consequences if you kept trolling—but clearly, none of that made a bit of difference. 🤷

Now you’re going to try and claim you weren't just trolling, that you were simply sharing your thoughts and navigating some uncertainties, but let’s be honest—there is absolutely no other way to categorize posts like this than pure trolling.

You’re asking me to give you a simple yes or no answer, but I’ve always found that such binary choices rarely capture the full complexity of a situation.

Keith Lee2 said:Unfortunately, even applying the formula hasn't quite helped me resolve my dilemma, which brings me to the following point:

Does a point on the edge of a rotating circle actually move in relation to its center point?
It’s either spinning, moving, or standing perfectly still.

Once I manage to resolve this particular dilemma I'm currently grappling with, I will be in a much better position to provide a proper answer to the question you've posed.

Let me get back to you on that and provide a little more clarity.

shadoworca3 said:That’s correct; it rotates around its center point.
We can draw this conclusion because a rotating frame isn't an inertial system; it’s essentially "privileged" in its motion, which means the standard laws of special relativity—which strictly govern inertial systems—simply don't apply here in the same way.
The movements associated with rotation fall squarely within the classic realm of the Sagnac effect.

When you're looking at how GPS systems actually function, you really have to account for several complex variables to ensure accuracy. You can't just ignore the way time shifts due to the satellite's velocity, nor can you overlook the gravitational effects caused by altitude changes. Furthermore, one must factor in the Sagnac effect to compensate for the Earth's rotation.

And then you just go ahead and mess with my head. 😠
It’s a bit like being caught in that strange paradox where, if something is spinning fast enough, you can't actually tell whether it's truly in motion or just standing perfectly still.

Keith Lee2 said:The core of the question was whether it was actually in motion or simply standing still.

You’re absolutely right—it really does work better when things keep spinning.

I still haven't received a clear answer from you regarding whether things are actually gaining momentum or if we're just standing still.
It’s a fundamental principle, really: a point rotating around a central axis maintains a constant distance from that center, neither increasing nor decreasing its radius throughout the motion.

It appears that motion is entirely dependent upon the observer's perception; in other words, if the observer...
Keep a close eye on it. ...a point that revolves entirely around him. She’s going to hold steady. I suppose that's fair, but what if...
It seems like you might have sent an incomplete message. If there was a specific thought or post you wanted me to rework into my signature style, please go ahead and share it! I'm ready to dive in and craft something substantial once I have the details. Don't stare. Then, well... She’s definitely going to make that move sooner rather than later. Right through his line of sight.

That is merely one instance where I was personally involved, along with all the others who have stepped forward to file a formal complaint.

From this point forward, I intend to simply sit back and observe the discussion, following the flow of the conversation through quiet observation alone.
Don't worry too much about it; someone just like you will inevitably cross your path sooner or later, which should provide you with plenty of entertainment.
Unfortunately, we find ourselves in the exact same boat.😢

Appreciate you backing up your decision with actual facts.
Since you guys see those facts as a reason to ban me—but I don't—
then clearly my complaint isn't really about you, it's more about
whoever can actually look at this stuff objectively.
If there's someone like that out there, I’d love for them to check if my posts are actually causing damage,
which is why I ended up with this partial ban in the first place.

There's only one thread in the "Natural Science" section I even follow, and that's
the "Space-Time" one—I only jumped in because my buddy @Sprečo asked me to,
and his posts got labeled as "trolling" too, which landed him a partial
ban as well.
Honestly, I don't think a topic like space and time can stay strictly scientific
until we even know what time actually is... it needs a little bit of
imagination and speculation, which apparently wasn't taken well (at least not by me).
If this partial ban ever gets lifted—which would be great since it's annoying
having to log out just to read links in my own posts,
and on my own thread, no less—I definitely won't be posting in that subforum
again until moderators shadoworca3 and Timothy Jackson2 apologize for their
condescending tone when they were talking to me and Sprečo.

I’ve gone through the thread and looked at the posts directed at you along with the moderator warnings, so based on all that, you’re getting a partial ban. Look, I’m totally fine with you having your own take on a discussion, but in this specific case, your approach is just killing the vibe of the whole thread. Since you didn't back off even after the warning, we have to go with a partial ban.

Like, if it's spinning, we still don't actually know if it's moving or just sitting there.

Since two observers can only spot movement by seeing each other
get closer or further away—and even then they can't tell
which one is actually moving, which is still, or if they're both cruising—how can you
ever tell during circular motion, since nothing is getting closer or further, whether
anyone is even moving at all?

You didn't answer the question—probably for reasons only you know—instead
you just called it trolling.
There’s no shame in not knowing something, but it's pretty lame to try and mask
intellectual helplessness with pure ego.
But hey, maybe that's just me feeling awkward while some people act like they're all that.

There is only one specific topic within the "Natural Science" subforum that I find myself following, and that is this one.
The concept of "space-time," a topic I decided to explore following an invitation from my colleague Sprečo.
His posts were also flagged as trolling, which is exactly why he received a partial ban.
It appears that a ban has been issued.

Every single time Sprečo posts on any forum, people immediately assume he’s just trolling. It seems like wherever there is a corner of the internet to inhabit, he finds a way to clutter it with those repetitive images and pester others with such blatant nonsense.

If you insist on equating yourself with him, you will find that you won't last very long in any discussion forums dedicated to the natural sciences.

It is my firm belief that any discussion regarding the nature of space and time cannot be confined solely to the realm of natural science.
The subject remains unsettled, much like a case that cannot be closed until the true nature of time itself is finally understood.
It really should have been included to some extent.
Perhaps these are merely flights of fancy—a bit of speculation that has clearly gone unappreciated, at least in my particular case.

So, you are suggesting that I would overhaul the entire subforum, effectively transforming the Natural Science section so that it no longer focuses on actual natural science, but instead serves merely as a vessel for whatever topics I personally deem appropriate?

If you feel inclined to explore this subject from a different perspective, perhaps it would be more appropriate to initiate a new discussion thread within a different subforum.

Should that partial ban ever be lifted, which I find quite bothersome, I would certainly feel compelled to lodge a formal complaint regarding the circumstances.
What specific credentials or login information must I provide to gain access to the links within my own previous posts?
And that is all within their own thread; I certainly have no intention of engaging in any debates on that particular subforum.
Everything will remain in this state until the moderators, shadoworca3 and Timothy Jackson2, offer a sincere apology for their actions.
The tone used when addressing both myself and my colleague Sprečo was unnecessarily disparaging.

If they decide to offer you an apology for that partial ban—which, let’s be honest, was more than earned—I might just find the strength to finally close my PDF on natural science.

If individuals are permitted to persist in their blatant trolling despite receiving countless warnings, then this entire forum loses its fundamental purpose.

Keith Lee2 said:Since two observers can only really track movement relative to one another, I guess everything kind of depends on where you're standing! It’s pretty wild when you think about it, right? Maybe that's just how physics works.
I guess it’s either getting closer or moving away, though I honestly can't quite tell just yet!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about this, and I can't help but wonder—which one of them is actually moving? Like, is only one of them on the move, is one just standing perfectly still, or are they both actually in motion? It’s such a tricky thing to wrap your head around, especially when you start thinking about how that affects everything else during the process! I guess it really depends on the specifics, right? Maybe there's a way to look at it differently, but man, it's a bit of a head-scratcher!
Since there isn't any actual moving toward or away from the center, we're looking at pure circular motion here. I guess that means it could...
I guess we need to figure out which one is actually moving—or if anything is even budging at all! Maybe we can pin down if there's any motion happening here, or if everything is just staying perfectly still? I'm curious to see!

It all starts with the radius of the circle they’re moving in, which is basically the foundation for everything else you look at. I mean, that's stuff you probably learned way back in elementary school!

You didn't actually answer this question—maybe because you have some reasons for staying quiet that only you know about, but still!
He just claimed he was trolling!
Look, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with not knowing something—honestly, that’s just part of being human! But I guess it really is a bit embarrassing when you refuse to try and stay stuck in total intellectual helplessness. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we should always be reaching for more!
Just straight-up bullying someone through sheer force. I mean, wow. That’s just intense!
I mean, honestly, maybe it’s just me, but I find that whole thing pretty embarrassing. I guess some people actually take pride in it, though!

It’s honestly kind of embarrassing when someone tries to act like an expert while clearly lacking even the most basic elementary school knowledge. I mean, maybe they just skipped a few chapters, but you can't really sell yourself as a genius like that!
Major props to the moderators! I honestly wish I had nerves like yours.

It’s honestly pretty cringe when someone tries to act smart but can't even remember basic middle school math.
Huge props to the mods, though—I don't know how you guys stay so chill.

🤦
Unbelievable.
After such a massive misunderstanding—and then having my own traits projected onto me—it's seriously hard to keep my cool.
But whatever!

A radius is just the constant distance from the center to any point on a circle.
If you're standing at the center and you see a point at a fixed distance that isn't getting closer or further away, how are you supposed to tell if it's actually moving in a circle
or if it's just sitting there still?

Hopefully that clears up what I was actually asking!

urbanwalker72 said:Everywhere Sprečo posts, people just see it as trolling. Wherever there's an open corner of the internet, he’s there dropping his memes and bothering folks with obvious nonsense.

If you're trying to say you're just like him, you aren't gonna last long on any forums dedicated to natural science.

So, what—you want to overhaul the whole subforum so it stops being about natural science and starts being about whatever you think is appropriate?

If you wanna argue this from a different angle, go ahead and start a thread in another section.

Look, if they end up apologizing to you for some biased ban that you totally earned, then sure, I can close down the natural science archives.

If someone can keep trolling aggressively even after a million warnings without getting hit, then the whole forum is pointless...

Every single time you post something directed at me, it's full of condescension and
lecturing—which, honestly, is basically trolling.
Putting others down isn't gonna give you credibility except with people who don't know better, so
your whole "I'm qualified to post in>
doesn't really impress me at all.
If anyone actually thinks you're competent, man, more power to them.
But I gotta call out the mods—after the warnings about the trolling
going on between us, I'm the one backing off and getting banned, while you
just keep going without even a warning.
And you still have the nerve to come here and gloat.
Seriously pathetic.

I’m gonna resubmit my complaint since some new stuff popped up:
Basically, in my complaint, I asked for someone who can give a neutral take on
what happened:

Keith Lee2 said:Since you guys see those facts as a reason for a ban—and I don't—
then clearly my complaint isn't actually about you, it's about
whoever can look at these facts objectively.

If there's anyone out there who can, please just check if my posts actually caused any damage,
which is why I got this partial ban in the first place.

There's really only one thread in the "natural science" subforum I follow, which is
"Space-Time"—I jumped in because my fellow user @Sprečo invited me,
but his posts were also flagged as "trolling," so he ended up getting a partial
ban too.
To me, a topic like space and time can't be purely scientific
without knowing exactly what time even is, so there had to be some
imagination and speculation involved—stuff that obviously wasn't taken well (at least not by me).
If this partial ban ever gets lifted—it sucks because now
I have to log out just to read links in my own posts,
which is on my own thread, no less—I definitely won't be posting in that subforum
until the moderators El Niño and TikTok apologize for their
condescending tone when they talked to me and @Sprečo.

though I noticed in another thread that @nicole2007 said:

staying out of things where you don't belong.
So, Daniel Ward87, I'm still waiting for an explanation.
2. You aren't going to talk to me like this ever again.
I know your easiest way to cover up an injustice is to try and make a person look crazy, but stop doing that—you've tried a few times already and it didn't work.

But the mod Daniel Ward87 doesn't realize that the phrase "you aren't going to talk to me like this" wasn't
aimed at him, and he reacts like this:

Seriously? You think you get to decide how I talk to you?

From that, I figured the moderator didn't even spend enough time on my complaint
to actually understand what was happening, so if possible,
I'd love to hear a "second opinion"—basically a view from someone else
in charge of handling complaints.
Thanks!

The decision stands, just like before.

It’s not even about whether you’re neutral—it’s more that you didn't really take the time to
actually get what's going on with this topic and how this sub works.
And since you jumped on my last post "immediately"—which, hey, thanks for the quick reply, I guess—it just feels like you rushed it again without
really digging into the situation I was actually complaining about.

So, thanks for the response, but I'd still love to hear from someone else who actually knows their stuff.

If nothing changes after that, then I'm back to my usual phrase for when things go sideways:

Are you talking about my response to @nicole2007? I don't see how she has anything to do with your case. Me being online right now is just a total coincidence.

The moderator @nicole2007 was totally dodging me—I’ve been waiting forever for an answer to my complaint and still nothing.

You're really pushing me to just be straight with you: this is your own issue. Just because of how I talk to someone else doesn't give you any right to second-guess decisions made five months ago, long before there was even any correspondence with Nicole or anyone else.

Look, to start with, one admin’s word is plenty; there's honestly no need to go hunting for a second opinion. That goes for this situation specifically, and it’s how things work in general here.

Plus, you were already warned about the partial ban. The mods laid out exactly what would happen if you didn't fix your attitude on the forum, which you clearly didn't do, so the partial shouldn't have come as any kind of shock. After repeatedly ignoring those warnings—even after racking up strikes and basically tuning out the heads-up about this penalty—there wasn't really any other way to handle it. At the end of the day, the moderators have to maintain the quality of this board and protect the community, even if that means cutting off access to people who just won't follow the rules.

Mods have to keep the PDF running and protect the users, even if that means banning people who just won't follow the rules.

Sorry, but it feels like you're just throwing out empty talking points that don't actually address the issue.
It's a lie that I ignored any warning—I just stopped arguing with @Wand.
It's also a lie that I had accumulated warnings, because at the moment I got banned, I hadn't received a single one on the only thread I was even active in.
And saying I ignored the notice of this ban? Total lie.
So, basically, the claim that I broke the rules is a lie.
And honestly, who did you "protect" by banning me from PZ, besides @Wand, who was the only person I was even bickering with?
