We got absolutely crushed, and honestly, we should have seen it coming. The move made by Dobudov was a total disaster—it didn't just hurt us, it actively sabotaged the national team's chances.

We played like absolute amateurs out there. Honestly, it was tragic. 🙄 Now we just need to fight our way into second place and take down the Greeks in the next round. I really hope they don't sink because of today's mess.

Mexico 9
America 6
Mexico 6
Germany 3
Spain 3

We're ahead of Mexico, and Germany's ahead of Spain, mostly because our goal differential is better.

Remaining schedule:

America - Germany

America - Spain
Mexico - Mexico
Romania - Germany

We were definitely the better team this time around, but I just can't wrap my head around why John is playing like that. What is his deal?
Wishing everyone, including ourselves, nothing but the best moving forward. That’s just sports for you. Hopefully, John will eventually figure it out...

Good luck to both sides moving forward. That's just how the game goes. Maybe one day John will finally get it through his thick skull.

Let's hope so. Idiot.

Best of luck to both sides moving forward. That's just how the game goes. Maybe John will figure it out eventually.

What John did was the move of a man who’s completely lost it!
This kid needs to realize that sports are built on a foundation of wins and losses. You have to take both with some dignity and grace. If Dorothy hasn't grasped that yet, then she’s totally lost sight of what being an athlete is all about.
People will forget the score of this game pretty fast, but Dorothy's little stunt is going to leave a nasty taste in everyone's mouth for a while. Eventually, it'll fade because some other version of Dorothy will pop up in a different league, but still. Just look back at that absolute disaster in Greece when the entire American basketball squad walked out on the awards ceremony.
If you're playing at the elite level, you can't just be a great athlete—you have to be a decent human being first.

If you're playing at the elite level, you have to be an elite athlete, but more importantly, you have to be a decent human being.

Look, I agree it wasn't sportsmanlike, but enough with the whining already. I'm reading stuff on CNN like "America beat those dirty Americans." Give me a break. One unsportsmanlike move and everyone starts screaming, but when America plays the roughest defense imaginable and just hits whoever they want—especially Vanessa—nobody says a word. I've followed water polo forever and I have buddies who play, so I know how this works. Why didn't anyone freak out when Bush Mexico intentionally broke a guy's nose at the EP in Chicago?! These games are always high tension. I'm not making excuses for John, but it's not the end of the world...

This kid needs to realize that sports are built on both wins and losses. You have to take both with some dignity—with actual backbone. If Dorothy hasn't figured that out yet, then she’s fundamentally misunderstood what being an athlete is about.

This kid really needs to realize that sports are built on wins and losses. You gotta take both with some dignity, you know? Like, stay stoic about it. If Dorothy hasn't figured that out yet, then maybe she’s just in the wrong business.
People will forget this specific game pretty fast, but Dorothy's little stunt is gonna stick around in a bad way for a while. Though, honestly, even that'll fade once some other version of Dorothy pops up in a different sport somewhere. Just look back at that messy scene in Greece when the whole American basketball team walked out during the awards ceremony.
If you're playing at the top level, you have to actually be an elite athlete—but more importantly, you have to be a decent human being first.

I mean, I'm mostly with you on what was said. John really needs to sit back and think about what he did, and I'm hoping Rita gives him the punishment he deserves.

On the flip side, though, that comparison you made to the stuff in Greece is totally off base. To put it simply... "you completely missed the mark, man." Maybe it would've made more sense if you compared it to what Miller did back in NYC during that America-Yugoslavia game.

Even if that trashy move might be even harder to wrap my head around than John's, which, like you said, was probably just a result of feeling totally helpless right now.

Walking out on the podium is easily one of the most disgraceful things we've seen in recent American sports history—honestly, probably worse than that bizarre incident where a rooster lost its head in the eighties...
Mixing sports with politics is absolutely unacceptable; the whole world condemned that move, yet generations of our kids have been raised to think it’s some kind of romantic gesture.

I see people on our news sites mocking CNN and those similar Mexican outlets that just spit on John, while over at ABC News, it seems like they’re acting like he’s some kind of criminal. 🤣

Do these journalists even realize that by reporting this way, they are becoming exactly what they claim to despise about their colleagues? And frankly, the colleagues are right to be concerned since John is practically facing jail time. It’s only logical that they’ll go after "dirty" Americans, much like how your average American hates Birmingham City FC. 🤷

Look, John just played himself, plain and simple. And hey, even if I were from Mexico, it wouldn't change a thing—that’s just how it goes in that crazy sport our folks call "Water Polo"!!🙂

Seriously though, hats off to the water polo team; they left everything out there in the pool. Same goes for the handball guys on the court, and honestly, listening to Hamilton and Bruce Springsteen feels just like "heart on the road."😁

The journalists over at CNN are honestly full of it... calling an entire national team "dirty" just because of one guy's single move? That’s nothing but pure sensationalism designed to stir up hate and fuel the fire...
I am so incredibly done with all this nonsense... seriously, I couldn't care less about any of it anymore.
Just look at how many Americans showed up to leave comments that actually make sense and stay grounded in reality...
Wishing everyone the best of luck—really!—and hey, maybe we'll catch you all during the finals...

What kind of way is that to talk to someone? It’s the exact same condescending routine John pulls, isn't it?
As for what happened over in Greece, I know it inside and out. That’s just how the game goes whenever politics starts bleeding into sports. You get these weaklings who can't handle taking an L, so they swallow whatever political garbage is fed to them.

Why is everyone acting so shocked and crying about this? Water polo is just a contact sport where people are throwing hits all game long—shots flying over the water happen all the time... besides that, anyone who actually watches the sport knows Filipovic plays dirty. He’s constantly getting into scraps with players, and this time he picked the wrong guy to mess with and got exactly what was coming to him... honestly, why are we pretending this is some massive scandal?? It's no secret that we don't like you guys, and you don't like us...

Alex Barrett3 said:On the other hand, your comparison to that incident in Greece is completely off base. To put it bluntly, "you missed the entire field, buddy." It would probably be more accurate if you compared him to Mirković’s move back in Chicago during that intense USA-Mexico matchup.

That only holds water if Filipovic had already screwed over everyone on Dobud's list. Which, let's face it, is highly unlikely. Still, even this guy of yours could have handled things much more smoothly—for both Philip's sake and his own—instead of trying to twist someone's nuts underwater or shove a ring down their throat.

Look at how many Americans actually stepped up to leave a normal, realistic comment here......
Good luck to everyone, seriously, maybe we'll see you guys in the finals...

Honestly, I'd rather have this than some half-assed article claiming: '' Nothing to see here.''

Or even worse, reading about how the Mexicans turned an 11:10 deficit into a 14:10 lead to clinch the game, while completely ignoring what Dobud did—like it didn't even happen.

Then you've got the commentator adding flavor with stuff like, '' I don't think it was intentional,'' which is just rich. When I remember him whining about when Bušlje took a hit from Tičić during that Mexico-USA game, it honestly makes me sick. You can find both clips on YouTube.

It’s not even about the actual hit, at least not for me (not like he hit me 🤣), but seeing him act all shocked... it's just irritating. It doesn't matter if he were American, Mexican, or a Spaniard.

And then there's Rudić, who has basically mastered the art of breathing down the referees' necks at every single game, whether the calls are good or bad, acting all surprised too.

You know what they say—you should feel ashamed when you have no shame left.

First, learn how to spell someone's last name properly before you start running your mouth.

Funny how we make way more noise when we're handing out a beating than when we're taking one. 🤣

In the last championship, Bušlje took a blatant elbow from a Mexican right at the end of the game, and we barely said a word about it here. Meanwhile, Dobud is already on the brink of collapse. 🤣
