I don't even use an adblocker myself—not that I need one once I set this up.

I get this.

I won't be indifferent about this. 😢 I still need to test it on my laptop; perhaps it’ll behave there. 🙂

Thanks for the effort. 🙂

Does anyone actually know how to get this working...

Ronald Sullivan90 said:If you're using Chrome, just grab the Stylebot extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...foejpgmdaleoha and then apply this:

It's just some CSS
html body { background-color: #ffffff; background-image: none; }
table { width: 100%; }
div.page { width: 100%; }
div.pagenav { width: 0px; }

And if you prefer, you can just port it over to Stylish.

Consider this my little gift for my first post. xD

... implement it in Opera, like this:

I copied Dezz's code above into Notepad, saved it as a .txt, changed the file extension to .css, right-clicked the page, went to Edit site preferences -> Display tab -> My style sheet, turned on the .css file, and... absolutely nothing happened. 😢

I went ahead and cobbled something together that works for my specific needs. It isn’t exactly perfect,
the post replay and Google search results tend to drift a little bit out of alignment, but overall it’s
decent enough.

Code:
// ==UserScript==
// @name we
// @namespace pero1
// @description we
// @include http://www.example-us-forum.com/
// ==/UserScript==
document.body.style.backgroundImage="none";
//document.body.style.backgroundColor = "#ffffff";

resize = function()
{
// Adjust this value as you see fit
var size = "93%";

var tabels = document.getElementsByTagName('table');
var len = tabels.length;

if (len)
{
for (var i=0; i<len; i++)
{
if ((tabels.getAttribute("width") == 1100) || (tabels.getAttribute("width") == "100%"))
{
tabels.setAttribute("width", size);
}
}
}
}

window.addEventListener("load", resize, false)

What silverpanther13 mentioned regarding Opera is actually exactly what I'm looking for,
but I have to wonder... is it really worth switching browsers just for that?

@Kenneth Chase3

So, you're basically saying this works for Opera too—just drop it into the .css file and let it rip?

Dezz's stuff works like a charm in Chrome.

Christian Taylor3 said:I can't see any text to rewrite here—it looks like you just sent an image link. If there's a specific post or some text you want me to overhaul, just paste the actual content, and I'll get to work turning it into something that sounds like a real person living in the States.

*Claps*

Nokia, I can't exactly watch videos through a link like that, so if you want me to dive into what's happening there, you'll have to give me the rundown or paste a transcript. I'm all ears, though—just let me know what we're looking at.

Man, I just can't seem to get used to Chrome, no matter how hard I try. 😁

How do I actually get Dezz's code running in Opera? 🙂

That’s exactly what silverpanther13 was getting at regarding Opera—it hits on pretty much everything I'm looking for.
I mean, does that really warrant jumping ship to a whole new browser?

It’s not working—at least not in any way that makes any noise—because my width is staying exactly the same. 🤷

It’s honestly wild how every single website on the planet manages to play nice with every different browser and screen resolution out there... yet when it comes to this forum, the responsibility for making things look right just falls entirely on the individual user. It’s pretty unbelievable...

I’ve put together a little project for Chrome, using the Tampermonkey extension to get it all running.

There isn't actually any code involved with this in Google; you simply select it directly from the menu.
I have to admit, I’ve been feeling a certain level of frustration lately with Google. It’s one of those small, nagging technical hiccups that just seems to grate on my nerves after a while. Specifically, it refuses to remember the window size I set. Every single time I launch it, I find myself having to manually resize the browser back to my preferred dimensions. It’s such a minor thing, really—certainly nothing life-altering—but there is something about that repetitive, manual adjustment that feels unnecessarily tedious when you just want to get down to business.
I seem to have made a bit of a mess of things here. It appears I’ve accidentally hit a keyboard shortcut—specifically `Ctrl + .`—and now everything feels a little disjointed. My apologies if that caused any confusion; I sometimes get a bit too caught up in the flow of typing and lose track of my keystrokes. I'll try to be more mindful of my fingers moving across the keys next time. Back to business.

I’ve just finished scrolling through the last few pages of this thread, and honestly, I’m completely lost. 😕
Since I'm definitely not some tech wizard, I would be incredibly grateful if someone kind enough could walk me through this step-by-step in plain English. How on earth do I fix this insanely stretched-out forum page? 🙂
For what it's worth, I'm using Chrome, if that makes any difference at all. 🤷

Still nothing on my end either. Every time I try hitting Ctrl and the plus or minus keys, all it does is mess with the font size, making everything tiny or huge, but the page width stays exactly the same... It’s honestly infuriating...😢

Chrome:

- First, go ahead and install the Tampermonkey addon
. - You'll see the little icon up in the top right corner; just click on it and head into options
. - Pick an editor—I usually just use Notepad, which I keep tucked away in C:\Windows\System32\
. - From there, select "new user script." You can fill out the name and description however you like, but for the namespace
, try making it something unique, like "NewUSStyle." For the includes field, set it to
. - Once the script window opens, just paste this snippet in
:
Code:
document.body.style.backgroundImage="none";
//document.body.style.backgroundColor = "#ffffff";

resize = function()
{
//feel free to tweak this as needed
var size = "93%";

var tabels = document.getElementsByTagName('table');
var len = tabels.length;

if (len)
{
for (var i=0; i<len; i++)
{
if ((tabels.getAttribute("width") == 1100) || (tabels.getAttribute("width") == "100%"))
{
tabels.setAttribute("width", size);
}
}
}
}

window.addEventListener("load", resize, false)

- After that, if you go into "Manage user scripts" and look under the options for your specific script,
you can choose "edit this user script." That’s where you can adjust that 93% figure if you want a different width
.

It seems like the layout width used to be 1024px, but they've bumped it up to 1100px now. So, when
you multiply that by .93, it actually brings things back to that old preferred sizing.

The whole situation was a mess from the get-go, and trying to fix everything by forcing every single table to 100% via Tampermonkey is like trying to repair a leaking dam with duct tape; it just ends up breaking half a dozen other things in the process.

Here’s my custom CSS for Google; it should run flawlessly on any modern non-IE browser, provided you can find a decent extension like Stylish or whatever else is out there.

Code:
html body {
background-color: #fff;
background-image: none;
}

div.page {
width: 100% !important;
}

.pagenav table {
width: 0 !important;
}

.alt1 td, .alt1Active td {
background-color: transparent !important;
}

.alt2 td, td.alt2 {
background-color: #E1E4F2 !important;
}

#collapseobj_quickreply td,
div.panel fieldset > table > tbody > tr > td,
#vB_Editor_001 td,
.panel div[style="width:640px"] td {
background-color: transparent !important;
}

table[style="width:640px"],
table#vB_Editor_QE_1_editor,
table#vB_Editor_QE_1_editor td.vBulletin_editor,
table#vB_Editor_QE_2_editor,
table#vB_Editor_QE_2_editor td.vBulletin_editor {
width: 100% !important;
}

td.vBulletin_editor,
table#vB_Editor_QE_1_editor,
table#vB_Editor_QE_1_editor td,
table#vB_Editor_QE_2_editor,
table#vB_Editor_QE_2_editor td {
border: none !important;
}

table#vB_Editor_001 {
background-color: transparent !important;
}

.alt1Active td:last-child {
width: 100% !important;
}

div.imagebutton {
background-color: transparent !important;
border: 1px solid transparent !important;
padding: 0 !important;
}

div.imagebutton:hover {
background-color: white !important;
border: 1px solid #5D7790 !important;
padding: 0 !important;
}

Full disclosure: I haven't the slightest clue how this behaves for anyone running without various ad blockers installed. On my end, it works like a charm, and I even took the liberty of cleaning up a few nagging flaws that have been driving me crazy for ages. 😁

Having this fixed column width on the comment table is an absolute disaster... It’s completely unreadable. I’m stuck scrolling left and right just to catch a single sentence... 🙂

This works fine for me, though I'm running at 100% scaling. It's probably just some weird synergy happening with that other script... anyway, this fixed my issues.

It looks like you forgot to include the code! Just paste it whenever you're ready and I'll take a look.
I finally sat down and tinkered with some CSS to clean up this interface, because looking at the default layout was starting to give me a headache. I basically stripped out all those clunky background colors and forced the containers to actually behave by setting the widths to 100%, which, surprisingly, didn't break anything. I also went after those annoying borders and fixed the editor tables so they don't look like they were designed in the nineties. It’s mostly just a bunch of transparent backgrounds and forced overrides to make the whole thing feel a little less cluttered and a lot more modern, though I’m sure someone will find a way to complain that I broke their precious custom theme.

Full disclosure: I have absolutely no clue how this looks to anyone browsing without a bunch of ad blockers running. On my end, everything is working like a dream, and I actually managed to patch a few little quirks that have been driving me crazy for ages. 😁

Hey there, handyman! 🙏 You owe me a whole case of beer. 😁

Alright, here’s how you handle this for Google: just grab that block of code Jesse Sanchez4 posted above, paste it into Notepad, save it as a .txt file, and then just manually swap out the file extension to .css—you can name the thing whatever you want.

Just right-click on the page and head over to "Edit site preferences," then click on the "Display" tab. From there, you'll find the "My style sheet" option. You might want to copy or take note of the file path from your old one—something like C:\Program Files\Google\styles\user.css—just in case you end up breaking something and need to revert back to how things were. Once you've got that covered, you can just select or enable that new .css file.

Jesse Sanchez4, thanks again. 👍

I mean, why on earth would anyone want to wait two whole weeks... and honestly, who actually wants to sit through those annoying ads anyway?
