The topic was "The Beast and those who actually care about humanity." I brought up that disturbing video where eighteen different people just walk right past a dead toddler without a second thought, and I asked everyone what kind of species we’re pretending to be. Did anyone take offense or see themselves in that? Because we aren't talking about one outlier here—we're talking about eighteen people. If you didn't like the title, you could have just suggested a change, but locking the thread without any explanation 🙄 is just pathetic.
By the way, I didn't move this to the psychology sub; someone else did.

Which part of this:

ambermason16 said:What kind of sweeping generalizations are we even dealing with here? One single, horrific example of an idiot acting out isn't enough to justify claiming that people have turned into The Beast. You can't just take one outlier and turn it into a universal truth about humanity.

Does that even count as a valid reason to lock a thread?

One single horrific example of an idiot isn't enough grounds to claim everyone is The Beast and shut down the whole thread, right?

That doesn't count as a valid reason to lock the topic?

None of that qualifies as a logical explanation. You might as well have said, "The moon is made of cheese, so I'm locking this thread." What "horrific example" are we even talking about? Which specific idiot? Did you actually bother to look at how many people are participating here? Or are you just closing threads based on the title without thinking? Clearly, something is getting lost in translation. Which part don't you get? Everyone here acts like a moderator...🙄

First off, this feels way more like a sociology discussion. Though, even there, you wouldn't be safe from the critics.
You could have pulled this same angle from any random true crime headline on CNN.

The topic is super biased. We've always had examples like this. I get that you're aiming at the curses of consumerism and certain mindsets, but it's one-sided and lacks objectivity. You could easily find a ton of counterexamples showing how wonderful people can actually be.
And honestly? It’s pretty pointless. It's just a thread for bashing the human race. Let's try something else: what beautiful things do you see in humanity that you actually love? This one's unnecessary. Thread locked.
