Just type in the username you're looking for, check the boxes I marked in the screenshot, and you're all set.

Otherwise, you'll just keep seeing the last or first 300 posts.β˜•

Aha, my badβ€”I completely missed all of this. I honestly thought people were only interested in the initial posts 😳

So, how does one actually go about tracking down all those posts through Google? I mean, give me a concrete example πŸ™‚

I can't even get into my own threads. I'm getting this weird vBulletin error message:

Matthew Ruiz7, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2.If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

You get a notification saying the search engine is off-limits for regular users.

Yeah, but I used to be able to see my own posts just fine, and now suddenly I can't.
It’s like only the "special" users get that privilege while the rest of us are stuck.
What a joke.

You’ve got about a 90-minute window to wipe your posts while that EDIT button is still live.

I don't think it's right, or even ethical, to act like some kind of dictator toward the users here. We all mess up sometimes, and everyone SHOULD have a chance to fix their mistakes. Pretty sure every single person on this Reddit would want that. What's the point of being so absolute about it? It definitely isn't being friendly. Why shouldn't we be able to go back to an old post and fix a typo in a company name or someone's name? And honestly, people reading the comments would probably appreciate seeing an apology if one was needed. At the very least, the "edit" option should stay permanently available on every post or comment. πŸ™‚
I'm just wondering if anyone is actually going to read this or even bother replying? If we want to keep this Reddit alive, there needs to be mutual respect. There's way more competition out there now than there used to be.

Editing posts is only allowed within a very tight window. Whether you're on Reddit or any other message board, letting people go back and change things days or even months laterβ€”once the conversation has moved miles past the original pointβ€”would just create total chaos and open the door for people to manipulate their words. Besides, once a discussion gets rolling, nobody is actually circling back to re-read old entries anyway.

If you realize you cited someone incorrectly (or misnamed a company, as you put it), the standard procedure is to simply post a new reply. You can always quote your previous mistake to clarify that you were wrong and provide the correct details. That way, everyone following the thread gets an immediate notification of the update and sees the corrected info right away.

There you have it; question answered. Best regards.

If you could edit stuff days or weeks later once the whole thread has moved on, it would just cause total chaos and people would abuse the edit button. Plus, nobody actually goes back to read old posts once a discussion gets rolling anyway.

If you mess up a quote (or a company name, like you put it), just make a new post. You can always quote your own old mistake, say you screwed up, and drop the right info. That way, everyone following the thread sees a fresh post with the updated info immediately.
There. Question answered. Respectfully.

Thanks for the reply, but I still think things should change, even if I haven't personally run into this issue yetβ€”hopefully I won't. Look at Facebook; they aren't going anywhere, and you can basically delete anything you want, and the comments just vanish without a trace. I know everything moves slow over here and needs owner approval and whatever. Now I'm wondering, if we just delete our accounts, do all our posts disappear too? Probably not, right? Reddit owns everything we've ever written; they have absolute ownership. But hey, thanks again for the answer.

No, you can't just go around deleting posts and threads whenever you feel like it, and that’s never going to change.
No, logging out doesn't magically wipe your post history. Though, if by "logging out" you actually mean deleting your entire profile, let me stop you right thereβ€”that isn't an option here either.

This forum isn't Facebook. It operates on a completely different concept, with a totally different way of engaging and presenting oneself.
Here, you are an anonymous participant unless you choose to step out of the shadows at your own risk.
On Facebook, they force you to use your legal first and last name, and if you try to hide behind an alias, you can pretty much expect to get banned sooner or later.

Do you see the distinction now? You are comparing apples to oranges.

Everything you need to know is laid out in the forum rulesβ€”the terms you agreed to the moment you registered. If someone can't stomach the rules, they should just walk away and forget this place exists.

And for the record, on anonymous corners of the internet like this one, we don't bother with formal titles. We all speak casually. That's the beauty of anonymity.
