Everything this Nikša guy is saying in the article when they ask him about the Black Knights is everything. I’ve known this stuff by heart for a very long time. "Young fans, kamikazes, throwing themselves into the fray, falling down, getting back up," and so on. The title "mystic old school hooligans" is actually quite fitting; back then, there weren't many photos or anything, just stories and recounts that you can easily imagine. When this was happening, I was just a little over ten years old, and the Black Knights were my only heroes—the reason I started showing up to games a year or two later. At my first game, I was with my group in the North stands, and it was an absolute spectacle, like being at Olympique de Marseille! To some people, local legends were heroes, to others Superman, or famous bikers, or a father or older brother figure, or even famous soccer players; for me, it was the rivalry against the coast and our Black Knights. All these articles discussing the Black Knights from that match and the Marseille trip should be featured on the front page of all our fan sites, and for a while, that should be all we talk about. If you don't recognize this, you aren't part of the Black Knights. Unfortunately, subsequent generations became part of the movement because of the parties, the circus, the folk festivities, or just being from the region. I could never understand or accept that a hardcore supporter group like the Black Knights once was could turn into nothing more than thirty-meter banners carried by every small town in the country. It's tragic that the number one hooligan and ultra group in all of Central and Eastern Europe became synonymous with celebrations, carnivals, some random fan shouting drunk in a jersey, or a fairground atmosphere at the stadium where everyone just shouts "Black Knights are the best." It's been a massive journey in barely ten years—from the kamikazes whom journalists painted as villains, mothers fearing their kids would run into the White Boys, the media lynchings, and the club being intimidated, while all other fans deeply respected and admired us... to the carnival stage, the rural vibe, the "Black Knights are the best" slogans, the beatings in Washington, D.C. by the ZG hooligans, the traveling circus, the cheap fan gear, the media adoration, and all that slimy sentimentality. Even today, while things are rapidly returning to the right path, there are still far too many of these others among us—well over half. Until when? And why? If you weren't there for the big matches, you aren't one of the Black Knights!
A copy from the forum; hopefully, someone will understand what the man was trying to say.🙂
