I’m being dead serious here, because from where I’m sitting, Ferrari was miles ahead in these conditions, and honestly, Felipe Massa looked like he was handling it way better.
Then you've got the fact that Alonso just completely botched a bunch of stuff, plus the pit crew absolutely screwed him over with the tire situation—unless he just totally lost his head there himself🤷—so yeah, I guess the result isn't total garbage, but man, he could have done so much better.

it's actually an incredible result when you step back and look at the big picture🙂
the vibe is just... not really👎

but the overall feeling isn't exactly👎

At the end of the day, the results are what matter, but that initial impression sticks for as long as any of us can remember.

honestly, this was easily one of his absolute worst drives all season, yet somehow he still walks away with one of the best results.😍

I'm not joking; it seems pretty clear to me that on this track and under these specific conditions, Ferrari was far superior, which Felipe Massa proved quite effectively.
Then there's the fact that Alonso messed up several things himself, plus he got screwed over in the pits with his tires (or maybe he just blew it himself🤷), so overall it's a decent result, though he really could have done much, much better.

I mean, what can you actually expect when someone ruins their start, spins out twice in the exact same spot, loses control... could it have been better? I guess he did what he could during that final stint on those super softs, but those tires just don't last. Maybe 7 or 8 laps before they're shot and the lap times just skyrocket.

On the other hand, I understand that a constructor might mess up a car one year, overlook something, miscalibrate a setting, or just lack an idea... BUT for the mechanics to screw up two or three pit stops in every single, absolutely every single race? That is something I simply cannot wrap my head around.
Look at the gap in the fight for positions—the competitor is sitting at 3.2 seconds, while Alonso is at 5.6s. Well, that's not how you win races.

And please, enlighten me: who was the steward for this race? That penalty handed to Lewis Hamilton makes zero sense (actually, it's just plain brainless).

It was a fantastic race. 🙏
I had a clear view of Heidfeld’s car going up in flames, and watching those intense overtakes unfold in person was truly something else. 🙏 🙏

And do you have any photos? 😁

I didn't bother bringing a camera myself, but my buddy and his friend had theirs on hand. Once I get my hands on them, I'll post a few shots of the scenery that turned out quite brilliantly.

My overall impressions were decent enough. The turnout was solid, though not overwhelming. The food was overpriced, so we mostly just stuck to our own snacks. The merchandise was also steep, though I did snag a cool t-shirt (unfortunately, not in my size). Some idiots at the entrance wouldn't let us bring our folding chairs in, so we ended up sitting on the ground, but even that wasn't a major issue.
All in all, a good experience. 🙏

On the other hand, I get it—one year a constructor might mess up the car, overlook a detail, miscalibrate something, or just lack a clear direction. BUT for the mechanics to screw up two or three pit stops at EVERY single race? That is absolutely incomprehensible.
When you're fighting for position and the competitor is sitting 3.2 seconds ahead while Alonso is 5.6 seconds back, you aren't winning races.

And please, someone enlighten me: who was officiating this race? That penalty handed to Hamilton made zero sense (actually, it's clearly a sign of brain damage).

The start itself was solid, but the exit from turn one was messy. The helicopter footage shows it perfectly: both Ferraris lost traction almost simultaneously while Mercedes just cruised right past.

He lost the most ground when he had to navigate around Rosberg for the second time and then spent an entire stint stuck behind Webber.

It ended well enough despite an average drive, especially since everyone else was making even bigger mistakes, which salvaged the result.

Button proves once again that he's a reliable and consistent driver—arguably the best number two driver in the world. Out of all of them, he’s easily the most humble and the first to own his mistakes, unlike others who always look for excuses, like Hamilton's post-race comments. It's enough to make you lose your mind... or Alonso's.

Regarding the penalty, you've got it wrong. Di Resta had to go off-track just to make the pass. If you spin out, you wait until you can safely rejoin. This isn't even the first time he's pulled this stunt. The guy is completely thick-headed; just when you think he's learned his lesson, he reverts to his old ways.

According to the rules
"Incident" means any occurrence or series of occurrences involving one or more drivers, or any action by any driver, which is reported to the stewards by the race director (or noted by the stewards and referred to the race director for investigation) which:
- necessitated the suspension of a race under Articles 41;
- constituted a breach of these Sporting Regulations or The Code;
- caused a false start by one or more cars;
- caused a collision;
- forced a driver off the track;
....

He got flagged because he rejoined the track unsafely. Simple as that.☕

And because that reentry wasn't safe, he ended up getting penalized.

That is precisely the point.😉
He really should have just waited for the pack to pass before attempting to swing back onto the circuit to rejoin the race.

Overall, pretty good experience. 🙏

Alright, awesome. 🙂

Honestly, you probably should've hit Indianapolis Motor Speedway first because from what I hear, after Monza, racing in Canada is a couple of classes lower in terms of quality. 😁

It might have been wiser to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway first; from what I gather, after the experience at Monza, the trip to Canada is a step or two down in quality. 😁

Look, listen... a friend of mine who was there with me visited Monza last year, yet he was still incredibly satisfied yesterday regardless. Perhaps the secret lies in the fact that this year's Indy race—or whatever they're calling it now—offered much more substance than usual.

Next year, we'll try to coordinate for a race further afield. Maybe something in Spain...

he should have waited for everyone to pass before spinning back onto the track to rejoin the race.

You are absolutely wrong. If he had STAYED where he spun, everyone would have been forced off the track, since his rear end was barely an inch from the edge. Not to mention how foolish it would be to expose the entire team's budget to a potential collision.

So, zero points for that explanation.

So yeah, zero points for that logic. Zero.

He shouldn't have waited, and he definitely shouldn't have cut right back into traffic. He should've swung to the other side of the track, or even pulled way off, and then merged once there wasn't a car breathing down his neck.

Well, he did move—and by the time he turned back, there was MORE than enough room. I guess his whole explanation is just completely hollow.

It was pretty obvious there just wasn't enough room when Andrea di Resta got forced off the track.

So yeah, the logic? Zero points. Total fail.

Spot on. If he had just stayed put, there wouldn't have been a penalty, but he didn't.

He just couldn't wait for the rest of the field to clear, so he pulled that reckless move trying to squeeze through them.
It's plain as day.
For everyone.
Besides, even Lewis Hamilton went out of his way to apologize to Andrea di Resta, which tells you everything you need to know—the situation is crystal clear.
And let's be honest, Lewis doesn't go around handing out apologies like candy very often.
