because hey, anyone who actually puts in the work is going to trip up once in a while
but obviously, if you're just making the exact same mistake over and over again, then we're talking about a whole different level of problem

I honestly don't get the point of this sub if nobody’s actually going to respond to a legitimate complaint.

So, the mod says:

Melissa Sanders33 said:If you noticed something shady while looking into the Miroslav Tuđman stuff, why didn't you just report it?

I'll take a crack at this:

Daniel Campbell5 said:So, I just spent about fifteen minutes clicking through ten different pages—honestly, my brain's fried so I didn't bother reading any further. Just wondering, though... is everyone going to get wiped out? I'll check back later. 😉 ).

Yeah, I actually went ahead and clicked on like fifteen of those little triangles. Just like the moderator suggested..

Checked back today, and from what I can see, nothing’s been wiped. Still all there. 🤷

For instance—and I’ve reported a whole bunch of others, this is just one example—it’s still sitting there:

I don't know what to tell you guys. Just feels like everything is moving too fast lately. One minute you're chilling, the next, things are spinning out of control. Not sure if I'm just getting old or if the world's actually losing its mind. Probably both. Anyway, just my two cents. kaže:
Honestly, Miroslav Tuđman is just completely speechless. He’s got zero capacity for this.
He’s just a total hack, ripping off Franjo’s playbook and using the exact same dirty tactics.

What if someone actually had the nerve to claim "The son of a spy is using the exact same tactics" when talking about Josipović or Bajić? 🤷

Besides, this totally flies in the face of "slybison8's principle"—which, let’s be honest, he breaks himself half the time anyway—about only bringing up parents if there's an actual reason it matters. So, why wasn't this scrubbed when I flagged it? Especially since you guys told me, "just report it and we'll take care of it."

Also, I’m gonna ask one more time for a straight answer on this:
Daniel Campbell5 said:So, basically, since you're the Politics mod, are you actually giving me the green light to use those arguments (about why bringing up parents matters) to drop a new post in the thread about M. Bajić? I'm planning to lay out the facts regarding his old man's history during the war.

I just don't want to waste my time writing something only for it to get nuked later.

Daniel Campbell5 said:3. So, does this mean that you, as a Politics moderator, are now allowing me—given my previous reasoning regarding why mentioning parents is relevant—to start a new thread about M. Bajić where I lay out certain facts concerning his father's service in the resistance during the war?

My apologies, Daniel Campbell5—I haven't been around these parts for a little while.

I suppose I can't really offer you any guarantees ahead of time. If the father of the Attorney General did something that truly interests the public, then perhaps it might be permitted, but if you intend to detail a "resistance path" and then attempt to draw connections to his son's current public office, the thread will likely end up being removed.

Personally, I am not particularly fond of topics that encourage users to engage in "mob justice" against anyone, and I believe one should maintain a certain level of respect for the Office of the Attorney General, regardless of who happens to hold the position at the moment. Perhaps it would be best if you were to draft an introductory post and send it to at least two different Politics mods before publishing it; we can look it over and let you know our thoughts. I can't think of much else to suggest.

Best regards

slybison8, thanks for getting back to me.

I’m still sitting here wondering what happened to those fifteen posts in the M. Tuđman thread. They totally fly in the face of the rules laid out here. When I brought it up, the moderator didn't just suggest I report them—she actually gave me a hard time for not doing it sooner. So, I did exactly what I was told and filed the reports, and...

...nothing. Absolute radio silence. 🤷 Here they are. If the logic is "whatever goes in the Tuđman thread is fine, but we draw the line at Bajić/Josipović," then fine. You don't have to say it out loud. I get it.

I’m still waiting on an answer regarding those fifteen posts in the Tuđman thread that clearly violate the principles outlined here. The moderator actually advised me—well, more like scolded me for not doing it—to report them. I did exactly as instructed, and yet...

...nothing happens. It's all just smoke and mirrors. 🤷 If the logic is "what's allowed in the Tuđman thread isn't allowed in the Bajić/Josipović threads," then fine. No need to respond; I assume you won't say that explicitly.

🙂

So, it's far from over.

Just so we're clear, if everything reported goes unaddressed, it means someone looked at them—likely one of us, or even the admins—and decided they weren't worth deleting.

Take my case, for example. I didn't delete certain posts because we're talking about a father and son who were active in politics at the same time. That's fundamentally different from the situation with Bajić and his father, or Josipović and his, where there's a sixty-year gap between them.

slybison8, thanks for the reply.

I’m still waiting on an answer regarding those fifteen posts about M. Tuđman. They clearly violate the principles laid out here, yet I haven't heard anything back. The moderator. She didn't just suggest I report them—she actually lectured me for not doing it sooner. So, I did exactly what she said and filed the report. And then...

... eats the wolf of cargo. 🤷 There they are. If we’re playing by the rule that "what’s allowed in a thread about Tuđman isn't allowed in a thread about Bajić or Josipović," then fine. No need to respond. Of course you won't say that explicitly.

🙂

It’s not about being a victim here. You seem to have a personal vendetta against me, yet not a single report regarding your "outrageous" posts has actually reached my desk. A fellow moderator issued a warning, which was completely ignored. I stepped in to issue a formal warning myself, and what happened? Nothing. Absolute silence.

Regarding the thread on Miroslav Tuđman, I read every single post. If you’re expecting me to go in there with an eraser and scrub everything that looks out of place, fine—for you, I’ll do it. But let's be realistic. This political section gets heavy; we can't be online every second. Every post needs a look, and this happens once a year. Clearly, you missed my comments from back when I wasn't even on the moderation team yet. No big deal. If you actually had a grievance, you could have just sent me a DM to voice your opinion, like plenty of other users do. I wouldn't have ignored you; I would have actually considered your complaints. But I guess this way is sweeter.

The admins will make the call on the rating. Best regards to you.

Daniel Campbell5 said:Still, I’ll maintain my stance: if you're sending a private message alongside a ban notice, there should be some semblance of courtesy—provide a specific reason, such as "please use the designated subforum for discussing moderation policies," rather than hiding behind vague jargon like "violation of site rules."

Teta_elza always points this out. There isn't some unified, ironclad policy manual here; instead, the whole thing is left to the individual discretion of the moderators, which is where the friction lies...

Charles Fox10 said:So, it’s not a closed case just yet.

Just so we're clear, if you report something, someone on the team—probably all of us, including the admins—is going to take a look at it. And as you can see, nothing got nuked.

Take my call, for instance. I didn't delete it because we're talking about a father and son who were active in politics during the exact same era. That’s a totally different ballgame than something like Bajic and his old man, or Josipovic and his dad, where there's like a sixty-year gap between them.

So, calling someone a "plagiarist just like their father" counts as being politically relevant now? Wild. 🙄

Melissa Sanders33 said:If you actually had a problem, you could’ve just slid into my DMs and told me what was on your mind, like most people on this forum do. I definitely wouldn't have ignored you; I would've looked into your complaints. But hey, I guess being passive-aggressive publicly is just easier.

Look, smartypants, you’re the one who suggested I hit the report button the exact same way you’re suggesting DMs now. And when I clicked that button fifteen times, nothing happened. Zero. Zilch.

But whatever, if making things difficult makes you feel better, go for it. 😢

Anyway, I'm telling the mod to just lock this thread. This is a lost cause. 👋

Daniel Campbell5 said:Look, sweetheart, you’re the one who suggested I hit the triangle button the exact same way you're suggesting the PP now. And after I hit fifteen triangles, nothing happened on your end.

But honestly, it just feels better that way. 😢

Fine. I suggest the admin locks this thread. It’s a lost cause. 👋

Yeah.
