Without them, this sub would probably be something else entirely; they give the place a certain edge, otherwise, it might just feel like a dry, rigid military regiment, lol.
And honestly, they both do a great job moderating, on top of being such engaging and cool people to talk to.

I mean, Deedy does a solid job over in the food section.

I could probably say some things about other mods, but I'm not saying them here.

And rustydrifter10 is honestly a great moderator.

I agree that there are plenty of solid mods out there, but you have to admit it's pretty rare to see someone start a thread just to give a shout-out to a mod. Usually, we just get hit with a barrage of insults directed at ourselves.

Personally, I tip my hat to the guys over at Politics; they need to keep all that chaos under control over there.

People seem to forget that Powerlock banned at least 15 members in that thread. Most of them were just people against the Pride Parade or against treating Gay expression as being equal to Heterosexuality. Honestly, it didn't look like the moderator put much effort into actually getting anyone to have a decent debate. They just cleared the room. It was easier to just get rid of them than to let people actually speak their minds.

Still, my rating for the management. 7/10, which is pretty solid.

I’m totally on the same page as melloworca6 with both of those points. Honestly, it feels like we tend to jump straight to the criticism rather than giving out much praise, which is a little bit sad if you think about it. The moderators over at the subreddit have their hands full, and it takes an incredible amount of patience and genuine hard work to keep such an active, high-energy community running smoothly.

No, no way. Only Powerlock actually deserves any credit. He’s not exactly perfect, but he’s definitely a step above the rest of the mods on the Politics board.
(unlike certain mods who have been an absolute embarrassment on Politics for years, like T.E., C.S., and to some extent R.—everyone else is just mediocre)

There are just certain people on this forum who are an absolute joy to read. Honestly, there are days when I find myself coming back specifically because of them, or clicking on a thread just because I see their name was the last one to post, even if I haven't kept up with the discussion otherwise. They’re articulate, sharp, genuinely interesting, and funny, but above all, they have such kind and noble hearts.

They’re the kind of people you truly want to keep close in your life, the ones you'd want to grab a drink with in the real world—people who become genuinely important to you and whom you value deeply simply for the wonderful humans they are.

And looking at what was quoted, I’d say one of those people is right here. ☕

Honestly, we’re always quick to jump on the moderators whenever we get the chance. Sometimes they're justified, sometimes they aren't, but you rarely see anyone actually give them a pat on the back.

No moderator is perfect—there are good ones and bad ones. Lately, I've been spending a lot of time in the politics section, reading and weighing in, and I have to say, Powerlock deserves credit for solid moderation. He respects everyone's take, joins the conversation, and isn't afraid to state his own view. So, yeah, kudos from me. 😁

On another note, if you don't mind my input, whenever I stumble into a subforum where the mods seem off, I just stay away. I don't bother posting because I know I won't be able to speak my mind freely. Trying to push back against a mod or correct a mistake feels pointless; they wouldn't be in charge if the owners didn't think they were doing a good job, and any conflict is just counterproductive anyway. Why even bother? For all I know, my impression might be wrong. The people running this site will shape it however they see fit.

But hey, I can't help but nitpick a little. 😬

If I can pivot to something positive: personally, I find the politics section really easy to read and participate in. Opinions are respected, and you can dive into plenty of topics—even stuff related to politics that doesn't strictly fall under that umbrella. It's especially good that hate speech, incitement to violence, insults, and trolling are penalized. That stuff happens, but it gets handled. As long as you express your views in a civilized way and respect the people you're talking to, you can pretty much say whatever you want.

I feel like I should give a shout-out to Powerlock here, mostly because they really deserve it for both their posts and the way they handle things as a moderator.
I mean, if they just keep doing exactly what they're doing, they could honestly be a model for all the other moderators on this site.

I’ve gotta jump in here and join the praise because the guy truly earned it.

Powerlock actually tries to stay neutral when moderating, making sure his own personal biases or old beefs with certain users don't bleed into how he handles a thread. Take his colleague the edge, for instance—he doesn't manage to pull that off, or maybe he just isn't even trying. I've noticed a ton of bans for trolling on this exact same thread under him, and a huge chunk of those were clearly aimed at people who just happen to disagree with him.
