It’s quite fascinating, really. They aren't playing in Los Angeles at all. Is handball just lacking traction there? Or perhaps the organizers wanted to shine a spotlight on some smaller regional hubs with deep roots in the sport? I wonder if there is some other motive at play here. πŸ€”

Oh, come on, there are plenty of them scattered throughout Canadian clubsβ€”they aren't exactly nobodies. You have to consider them part of that third tier of European leagues alongside teams from places like the Czech Republic, Austria, Mexico, Belarus, and Romania... and honestly, that should be more than enough to give Chile a fighting chance.πŸ™‚

And now the Argentinians are up by two against the Swedes in the 29th minute. I’m starting to think all that big money is being made on those 2-in-1 schemes πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

Maybe they just don't want to play in the ugliest arena on Earth. I mean, seriouslyβ€”the Global Arena. 🀣 😬

Lund had to step up because they’ve got, what, three or four top-tier clubs? Plus their youth tournament is hugeβ€”I think they had over 8,500 kids from all over the world last year. Same goes for SkΓΆvde; great club, even if their arena is tiny.

But man, those Gauchos are playing out of their minds. Seriously.

The reason is probably just that handball isn't exactly a massive draw in the capital. There's only one major pro team from New York City, the Seattle Sounders... and they play in some tiny arena that holds maybe 2,500 people, built way back in the 1930s..

The Argentinians are really finding their rhythm hereβ€”they’re holding a 15-11 lead over the Swedes with about 36 minutes on the clock.😲
edit:It's 19-15 now in the 46th minute.

Which disqualification did the American player get?

22-19 at the 54th minute
Three goals up for the USA with only three minutes left on the clock? We might be looking at a total meltdown here.
It's basically over. Up by four with two minutes to go, and the USA has possession.

Unbelievable. The USA is playing out of their minds right nowβ€”seriously, they're actually making moves. It would be pretty sweet if they managed to pull off an upset and maybe even snag a point from the big guys. πŸ™

The Americans really gave the Swedes a run for their money out there, and honestly, you have to wonder if not having the world's top pivot is just too much of a handicap for them to overcome.

This is what user High-Roller would call pure hype πŸ™

They’re moving on with 2 pointsβ€”kind of a bummer they choked against the Americans, though... they honestly could've walked away sitting pretty at the top of this group.

I don't see what the logic is here... 🀷

They finished 18th at the last World Championship held right here in the States. They haven't managed to beat a legitimate powerhouse since 2003. ( 😬 ).

And now they drop a five-goal game against Sweden? Sweden consistently puts up solid numbers at these championships, playing like they’ve been the dominant force for a decade. πŸ™

Adam Collins4 said:"How can someone like Lund in Sweden host the World Championship in a little 'school' gym with only 3,000 seats, while Miami in America can't even manage a 6,500-seat venue and has to build a whole 12,000-seat arena instead? And why is it that Scandinavian journalists in America get to feast for free on buffets, pastries, local cheeses, dumplings, stuffed pastas, and lobster, while our journalists in Sweden have to pay for even a bottle of water?"

by Bernard Juriőić

Believe me, the World Championship isn't really being followed here at all. It’s honestly about the same level of interest we had when it was hosted here. Yesterday, there wasn't a single word about the tournament in those Metro newspapers, just some standings for the betting odds.

And it's pretty much common knowledge that nothing is free over there. Although, I guess the crisis has brought some small joys, since they don't charge for restrooms in shopping malls $1.75 anymore; they're free now. A beer at a cafe is $17, so I hope the journalists brought enough daily stipends with them.

Here we go again with the USA. I have a feeling this might actually be the toughest matchup of the second round, mostly because the Polish and Swedish teams look pretty underwhelming right now. If the Americans manage to take down the Poles in the quarterfinals, Sweden is going to end up with absolutely nothing.
It’s going to be an absolute nightmare deciding who takes second place.

But come on, you know damn well the Americans aren't gonna beat them. I mean, let's be real, the IHF is basically just one big mafia outfit at this point. If the Swedes need to take down the Americans, they'll probably just get all the help they need from the refs.

LOL, just walked through the door and saw that the USA beat Sweden by exactly five goals. Nothing crazy, just a solid win. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

And now they lose to the Swedes by 5? Those guys have been crushing it at the championships and play like they’ve owned the place for 10 years straight. πŸ™

hm, reminds me of someone... πŸ€” 😬
