Charlize Theron would be absolutely perfect as Red Sonja👍

I mean, seriously, she’s tall, she’s gorgeous, and just imagine her rocking that red hair—she would be so incredibly hot & sexy, right? And look, I’m totally leaving out the fact that she’s a phenomenal actress because, honestly, in a flick like this, talent isn't even the main event.

As for Kalidor, wouldn't Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, be just the man for the job?

And I think Kate Backinsale would actually be a killer choice to play Queen Gedren.

If they want this thing to actually work, the Director really ought to be Christopher Nolan.😁

Charlize is too old. I mean, she’s great, but she’s just too old.

They need someone young. Though, let's be real, they'll probably just cast some actress based on chest size. That seems to be the trend lately, unfortunately...

And pass on Nolan for me. He’ll just throw in some plain Jane brunette, like he does in every single one of his movies.

It honestly baffles me that they haven't greenlit a Red Sonja project yet—it feels like the subject matter would fit right in with the current climate in Hollywood.
The villain should basically be a stand-in for someone like Harvey Weinstein; it’d be pretty poetic if they cast all those actors who've faced accusations of sexual harassment and assault... you know—Kevin Spacey, Ben Affleck... and hey, maybe even Arnold Schwarzenegger could jump in too.

Honestly, I'm not exactly hyped. The lead, Matilda Lutz, seems alright, though she's a bit on the smaller side for me. At least the main character gets a red wig, I guess. We could've had Zendaya in that role instead.

Matilda Lutz was great in Revenge, so she's a solid choice here.

Look, the girl's a solid C+, but in Hollywood, that’s basically a D or even an F.

In a good push-up, she might look okay.

All in all, definitely better than that total flop where she would've been an "African American" actress covered from head to toe.

Look, I suppose even though the movie leaned heavily toward trash territory, it was worth watching primarily because of Brigitta, and somewhat because of Arnold Schwarzenegger, much like how one might watch Baywatch just to see Pamela Anderson. I am not entirely convinced that she serves as any sort of major draw for the audience, at least not for us unrefined types.

Then again, it could’ve been way worse.

Just look at that surfboard from the newer Tomb Raider.

Plus, at least they didn't go with an African American lead like the original plan, and they didn't swap out a million redheads...
I've got nothing against African American actors, but I'm not a fan of changing established characters away from being redheads.

I can't really recall much about Red Sonja... maybe just a few scenes, like the fight with Kalidor in a stream involving some kind of metal object...
I suppose the movie isn't actually bad, even by today's standards... I probably should rewatch the new Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja... I wouldn't say the new Conan was any better, either... Chuck, I honestly can't think of a single film on this subject released since 2000 that was actually superior

The Director claims they're going to overhaul Red Sonja's origin story—apparently because "I have no interest in fictional women who use [rape] as an engine of motivation. It’s not a strong motivation."

Look, they added that origin story way later anyway.

In the early comics, she was just this total badass redhead warrior.

Man, they wanted to swap out her race, change her hair color, mess with the outfit, and now they're pushing an origin story that wasn't even in the original stuff. It's totally irrelevant.

Even the Conan in the movie doesn't really match the Conan from the comics when it comes to his backstory.

This was a deeply cherished film from my childhood.

Same here, this was a favorite growing up. I've always been a huge fan of the whole sword & sorcery genre. The original movie had that fun, slightly trashy 80s vibe to it. I honestly don't get why they're even bothering with a remake, let alone planning to change things up. Red Sonja is just this busty redhead in a chainmail bikini—a total product of its era. I guess I wonder if Hollywood just can't physically manage to make an adaptation or a remake that actually respects the spirit of the original material? To me, it's a movie for geeks where you watch the sexy lead actress as pure eye candy. Or is there some rule now that forbids making simple, trashy, fun movies with hot leads (the kind that appeal to the male hetero teen crowd)?

Yeah, that's a solid comparison. Though, I guess a young Monica Bellucci would have been the top choice for Druuna. That's the kind of movie people would pay good money to see in 4K.😁

Honestly, hair color isn't even the point here, and I suppose Brigitte wasn't really defined by it either, since you can always just change your shade or throw on a wig. There are far more significant matters to consider than such trivialities 😁
