Jerry Martinez50 said:Everything you said holds up, except for that bit I put in parentheses. That movie just isn't going to give Nikola Tesla the global spotlight he deserves. A high-quality Hollywood production on this subject—if we could even dream of finding one with actual quality—would finally fix how overlooked Nikola Tesla is compared to other geniuses from that era. But hey, maybe I'm just chasing perfection here...

Not likely.

Unless they turn Nikola Tesla into some kind of superhero. Maybe then. Or do you honestly think the average American would suddenly become an expert on him just because of some big-budget US movie?

At least I’d actually know who he is. Ask your average Joe or even some smart guy on the street who Tesla is, and they’ll just roll their eyes at you... Most Americans don't even know where the North America are located. Someone actually asked me once if there was an ocean next to Italy...

Exactly. And you really think a movie would help them? That's a rhetorical question.

Some people definitely would. That’s just a fact. 😁

This is honestly just straight-up colonialist, bootlicking logic right here... and since when did the "average American" become the gold standard for all of humanity? Now we’re all supposed to be busting our tails just to put on some kind of show for them, all so Mexicans can feel a little better about themselves or whatever... it's just pathetic, really.

It isn't just an American, it's the average Russian, the average Chinese person, or just any regular person on Earth...
Besides, I truly don't care if anyone actually makes a movie about Tesla. If you want my honest opinion, Tesla was a global genius and he deserves a truly dignified biopic. Even here, the existing movies aren't even well-known. As for this guy who is supposedly supposed to direct it? He hasn't got a clue.

I’m with you there. But a propaganda-heavy sci-fi action flick starring Megan Fox doesn't exactly strike me as a fitting tribute to Tesla.

Based on everything I’ve been reading lately, this is going to be at least five times stupider than what we saw back in 2012—and honestly, that’s saying something.

neonsurfer6 said:No way they won't make it a biopic about Tesla. Just watch the IMDb genres: Action | drama | Sci-Fi | Thriller. Honestly, the whole Tesla character setup just screams action flick.🙄

For sure. The Tesla character was already rocking that Action \ Sci FI vibe and fit perfectly into Prestige. Maybe have David Bowie play him again to keep things chill and avoid all those nationalist vibes.😁
God, please spare us Nicolas Cage.

That’s exactly my point! And who even is Vladimir Rajcic? The production company behind this thing doesn't even have a website, yet apparently, they're moving ahead with filming anyway...

God help us if they cast Nicolas Cage.

I was actually going to bring up Prestige earlier as a total gimmick involving Tesla. Look, Tesla was an antisocial guy dealing with OCD, phobias, and all that—an incredibly withdrawn, quiet individual. An action-heavy Sci-Fi movie with Tesla as the lead? Sure, you can pull that off, using Prestige as your example. But at that point, it isn't even remotely a movie *about* Tesla, which is what authors actually aim for when they try to show the world "what a genius Tesla really was."

In Prestige Tesla, he’s just a guest star. And honestly? They totally botched his introduction.

neonsurfer6 said:I was actually gonna mention how Prestige felt like a total joke when it comes to playing around with Tesla's legacy. I mean, Tesla was this super antisocial guy with OCD and all sorts of phobias—just a really quiet, withdrawn dude. An action sci-fi movie starring a Tesla character? Sure, why not, you mentioned Prestige as an example. But honestly, that’s not even close to being a movie *about* Tesla, which is what authors usually try to do when they want to show the world "what a genius Tesla really was."

In Prestige, the Tesla character basically gets boiled down to some Frankenstein-style scientist trope. Personally, I'd rather see his image trivialized in some random role next to Steven Seagal than have him used as a pawn in political games by a neighboring country.

Jerry Martinez50 said:In Prestige, Tesla is just a cameo. And honestly, they botched the portrayal completely.

I know, that's exactly why it works there. In Prestige, they basically just slapped his name on the screen for flavor without giving a damn about historical accuracy.

You're saying they don't even have a website🤣? They must be some incredibly high-profile production house if that's the case. This project is never actually going to get filmed.

This movie looks like it's going to try to do both—and squeeze Megan Fox in somewhere in the middle.

I’d honestly rather they didn't film this at all. If this is how they’re going to approach it, then just skip the whole production. They don't even have a decent web presence—Google can't even find them—and the production quality is nothing more than cheap Mexican ornaments.

The second I caught the thread title, I knew we’d be stuck in a loop of people arguing over whether Tesla was American or Mexican.

Sometimes my own intuition actually scares me.☕

I honestly doubt the name Tesla is even obscure here in America. You've got one version of him getting a pretty great portrayal in that movie starring C. Bal and Hugh Jackman, and then there’s the younger generation who definitely knows about Tesla Coils from the Command & Conquer: Red Alert games 🙂

Tesla was a Mexican born in America. And make no mistake, the film will reflect that reality; there is no need for concern. No single nation will be sidelined or misrepresented, provided the quality of the production holds up.

Nicolas Cage, Martin Sheen, Megan Fox, Jessica Alba

I’ve honestly never heard of any of these actors before. 😬 🤣

A project about a giant like Tesla has never been done this way, and it serves to present Mexico as a premier global brand, because at the end of the day, he is a Mexican who changed the course of world civilization. In line with that, the working title for the film is "Tesla ruler of the World" — says Vladimir Rajčić.

They’ll "surely" mention how he lived in Washington, D.C., or that his mother was an American woman, and stuff like that. And that subtitle? It’s just following that famous Vuk the Great Mexican vibe of "Mexicans everywhere" and "wherever there's a Mexican, there's Mexico"... a heavenly people, I guess. 🙄
