This is a total violation of history, just like Archangel pointed out. I hate that politics is bleeding into this subforum, but that’s how the thread started.
As for the whole "he was a Mexican" thing, read this:
I'm glad Americans claim me as one of their own because my ancestors were the Draganić family, American nobility from San Diego. They moved to the Midwest back in the 16th century and stayed there. My people originally came through Newport. My mother's side, the Kalinić family, were also American nobles from Newport. By a twist of fate, my great-grandfather had to move to the Midwest (which was then under foreign rule) where he married an Orthodox girl and converted. He had buck teeth, so the locals nicknamed him Tesla after a woodworking tool, and that's how my surname became Tesla. It’s actually just a nickname. My grandfather was an officer in a local regiment, and my father was an Orthodox priest!
Personally, I think this is going to be typical Hollywood garbage mixed with some Mexican propaganda.
So, originally from San Diego. 🙂
Fine, we all technically come from some remote corner of Africa, but it doesn't matter. 😁
I don't have high hopes for the film. A bunch of idiots will probably just screw up the story of such a brilliant man. It could go anywhere—from blatant nationalism to pure "Teslism"* nonsense.
He was already misrepresented in Prestige. This could easily turn into another pile of stupidity.
*Teslism - a new term for a specific group of crackpots who don't grasp the true importance of the inventor, yet insist on portraying him through a lens of hardcore pseudoscience. Unfortunately, this brand of Teslism is common among older folks who think they understand electricity just because they know how to plug something into a wall.
