Let me jump back into this discussion for a second... I dealt with internal hemorrhoids for eleven years straight. For the last three or four, things were just brutal—honestly, if I didn't have cream on hand, I couldn't even dream about being away from home for more than two days without a crisis.
I went to see a doctor immediately at the first sign, starting eleven years ago, and then several times in short bursts after that.
But doctors usually give you the same old runaround: "Just use some FactSet (or whatever ointment works) and you'll be fine for a bit." Their logic? It’s not bad enough for surgery yet. Basically, they won't even consider operating unless you're already looking at third-stage hemorrhoids.
Around this time last year, I ended up in the hospital because the pain was just unbearable—I hit my breaking point. I told them, loud and clear, that I wanted the surgery done. Period.
It turns out I actually had two polyps on two of the hemorrhoids as well.
I sought out a recommendation for the top specialist in the field and booked an outpatient procedure with him. We went with Milligen_Morgan—nothing fancy, just a classic, reliable approach—and most importantly, it actually worked.
It’s been ten months now and I’ve had zero issues. Total recovery took about two and a half months.
Even the doctor was surprised by how much trouble I actually had internally; there was way more going on than they initially thought.
Now, I'm actually in the final stages of pregnancy, and surprisingly, they haven't come back at all. I was terrified of that happening—worried they’d flare up during childbirth right when I finally thought I was in the clear.

Hey everyone... I’m looking for some advice here because I'm really worried about my father. He’s been struggling with hemorrhoids for several years now, and it’s getting bad—there’s significant bleeding, he's having accidents that stain his clothes, and he complains about the pain constantly. The problem is, he’s incredibly stubborn and refuses to follow up with a doctor, even though I’ve pleaded with him countless times...
I just need to know if this situation is dangerous if he continues to ignore treatment...
thanks

1. First things first: he needs to see a doctor immediately. You can't just assume it's hemorrhoids; you have to rule out something more serious.
2. How old is he?
3. There's always a risk of infection in that area.
4. Has he mentioned any other gastrointestinal issues?

I know a doctor should be consulted; I'll try to have another conversation with him...
He's 52, and he deals with frequent vomiting and diarrhea as well...

This absolutely calls for a much more thorough GI workup, specifically an endoscopy of both the upper and lower GI tracts.

Hey, I'm new here. I decided to register specifically because of some issues I've been dealing with over the last few days, and by all accounts, it looks like hemorrhoids. 😢

This post is going to be a bit long because there's a lot to get through. 🙂

Basically, this all started about two years ago. Right at the base of my spine—very low down—a lump appeared between my buttocks. I didn't even notice it until it started bleeding; I only realized something was wrong when I saw blood on my boxers. After that, it would bleed for a couple of days, then settle down, shrink, and stop bleeding or hurting entirely. I noticed that it swells up after I sit for long periods. Then the bleeding starts again, and it follows this periodic cycle every month or two or so. I knew what hemorrhoids were, but since I'm young, I didn't think I could be dealing with them already. I did some research on various chemicals and stuff, and I basically lived under the assumption that I had hemorrhoids. Since there are external and internal types, mine is likely external. So, I've just been dragging myself along with this for the last two years.

However, about two weeks ago, things changed. I spent almost the entire day sitting. That’s just my life right now—I'm still a student studying Computer Science, so naturally, most of my time is spent in front of a computer. There's constant programming and all the usual grind. Yeah, I sat all day, though obviously, I'd get up occasionally to eat or hit the restroom. But one night, from about 6:00 PM until maybe 1:00 or 2:00 AM, I was sitting straight through. When I finally decided I'd had enough and tried to stand up from my chair, I felt a sharp pain in the anal area. It wasn't unbearable, but it was definitely pain. I panicked a little, telling myself it couldn't be anything serious, and went to bed, but the pain persisted. I fell asleep with it. The next morning, I went to sit up on the bed and realized I couldn't sit normally. It hurts like hell, and it’s also driving me to the bathroom. I go to the toilet, but I can never seem to finish. It constantly feels like there's a piece of crap stuck there that won't come out. I strain, I try everything, but nothing happens. I thought to myself, "This is it, these are real hemorrhoids." But there was no blood this time—just that sensation of incomplete evacuation. I found myself heading to the bathroom four or five times a day because the urge was constant, but whenever I sat down, nothing happened; I just felt that mass, which I assume is the hemorrhoid. 😁 For the next week, I made sure to sit as little as possible. I spent most of my time lying on my bed on something soft to minimize pressure. After three or four days from the initial onset of pain, the pain subsided, and I could sit and use the bathroom normally again.

That is, until four days ago, when I spent nearly the whole day at the computer again. It was the exact same thing: the moment I tried to stand up, the pain hit. Everything repeated itself—the sensation of being unable to empty my bowels completely. It was fine until this morning, when I noticed blood on the toilet paper. That really spooked me. It had never bled before, but this time there was a significant amount. The day passed, and tonight I see traces of blood on my boxers again. Now I'm actually getting worried.

So, what now? I haven't told anyone about this because, frankly, it's an awkward topic, and considering how young I am, I feel even more embarrassed.

What should I do? How do I fix this? Ideally, if possible, I want to handle this without seeing a doctor, a Proctologist, or whoever else handles this. Just creams, ointments, pills, whatever.
What do you all recommend?

Thanks!

It’s highly likely you're dealing with constipation, and most probably hemorrhoids too.
You can head to a pharmacy and look for some ointment or similar treatments, like Hemopropin, for example.
The following things are crucial: fix your diet
drink at least 2.5 liters of water a day
maintain good hygiene in the area
get moving more often
stick to a regular bathroom schedule (ideally right after breakfast) instead of rushing off to work or school.

And seriously, go get checked out by a doctor to confirm if they actually are hemorrhoids and to make sure there aren't any complications in the rectum.

I need some help and advice.

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant, and a painful, swollen lump about the size of a hazelnut has appeared near my anus. My stools are soft, and I don't experience pain or bleeding during bowel movements. However, otherwise, the pain is intense—so much so that I’m mostly stuck lying down. For context, my diet is generally quite healthy.

Are these hemorrhoids?
Is it possible they were caused by the pressure from the baby? If that's the case, can I expect any relief from ointments like Hemopropin or oils like Hemo-ex?
Is it better to stay lying down or should I try to move around?

Thanks!

It's definitely possible for hemorrhoids to show up during pregnancy. The pressure from the baby can mess with your circulation, causing them to swell up...

I’m starting to feel that familiar wave of panic setting in, too. I’ve got these three external hemorrhoids that flare up from time to time—they get inflamed and occasionally start bleeding. Based on how they feel, I’d say they’re stage 4, pretty large and protruding, maybe an inch or so. Honestly, I’ve been putting off seeing a doctor forever because I keep telling myself it’ll just clear up on its own. I’m really curious about what kind of trouble I could actually get into if I leave them alone; I’ve been dealing with this ever since I had my first baby 21 years ago. Thanks for any insight.

I'm wondering what kind of complications I might be facing. I've had these since I gave birth 21 years ago. Thanks.

You really need to go see a doctor because they aren't going to fix themselves. If they stay protruded all the time, you're likely looking at stage 4. This thread is huge, though—there are plenty of posts here where you can learn a lot. I personally dealt with hemorrhoids for about 20 years, and it ended with me developing polyps. Polyps are never good news; they can turn out to be malignant. Scroll back through the history and read my own experiences. It was awful. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. If you're ready to face surgery (which, honestly, might be your only real option at this point), don't let fear stop you. Find a great surgeon, put your trust in them, and you can finally leave this problem behind for good. The recovery is long and pretty miserable, but that's still better than suffering for decades. Good luck, whatever you decide to do...🙂

Go see a specialist immediately. Just be extremely careful about which one you choose—I had some rather unpleasant experiences with a certain "well-known" specialist out near Indianapolis. If those hemorrhoids aren't actually Stage 4, my honest advice is to leave them alone entirely and focus on fundamentally overhauling your diet instead... good luck.

I've been symptom-free for 10 months now—not a single one... full recovery took about two and a half months...
But what actually caught the doctor off guard was that there were way more internal hemorrhoids than they initially thought... significantly more...
And here I am, nearing the end of my pregnancy, and I don't even have them now... which is something I was genuinely terrified of... worrying they might pop out during labor right when I finally thought I was done with them for good...

Could you please share the name of the surgeon who performed your procedure? A recommendation would mean the world to me. Feel free to DM me if you prefer.
Thanks

Just wanted to drop a note and say St. John's Wort oil actually worked for me. I’m thinking about packing some in my bag for when I head to the hospital after giving birth!

Has anyone actually gone to Arithera, the clinic they've been advertising here on the forum?
I noticed their prices are pretty steep, but I'm curious—what are the actual experiences and results like?

For anyone using Pilex, you can actually find much cheaper versions of Pilex from an Indian company called Himalaya on eBay (http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/pr...cinalrange.htm); it's also plant-based, just with more botanical ingredients.

It's also available at:
http://www.favorfinesse.com/hhpilex.shtml
and they offer free shipping.

That Indian version of Pilex isn't actually the real deal—it's a classic case of "you get what you pay for" when it comes to quality here.

It doesn't work. I've tested it myself...
