Hello there!

I was wondering if anyone here might know of a specific printer capable of handling a somewhat unusual task.
What I'm looking for involves processing invoices on adhesive labels or thermal rolls. Specifically, I need a printer that doesn't just burn through a new label for every job, but instead prints on the reverse side of an existing roll and immediately winds it back up, allowing us to reuse the same roll for subsequent printing tasks.

I hope my explanation makes sense and that you can follow what I'm aiming for.
I've been searching high and low for a printer with this exact functionality, but I haven't had any luck finding one yet.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

That doesn't exist...

You do that on massive industrial printing presses using huge rolls of media... you print the whole thing on a giant roll first, then cut it down and wind it onto smaller rolls...

While I was waiting for some feedback here, I decided to do a bit of digging on Google and stumbled upon this Citizen CL-S703R printer. I have a feeling it might actually be capable of handling what I need, though I could be mistaken.🤷

Unfortunately, no. That’s a thermal transfer printer, which means it only prints on specific heat-sensitive paper by burning through the top layer—think those monochrome barcode labels you see everywhere. It won't touch plain paper...

I'm talking about receipts on continuous rolls or thermal paper. I need a setup where it doesn't just burn through the roll, but prints on one side and then immediately rewinds it so the roll stays usable for the next batch.

Hopefully, that makes sense.
I've been hunting for a printer like this, but I'm coming up totally empty.

Thanks in advance

Check out the EPSON R1400. It might have an attachment for pairing rolls, but it lacks the automatic rewinding feature.

I realize it's quite a tall order, but I'm just trying to track down something like that if it even exists—provided we aren't talking about some massive industrial machine.
