December is a unique month across the entire Western world. It marks the closing chapter of the year, a season of anticipation for the holidays, and a time when any surplus funds are typically funneled toward our loved ones. Of course, one could argue this has strayed far from its original spiritual roots; the commercialization is staggering, turning what should be a meaningful season into a massive corporate machine. According to various studies, Americans—and we can debate the nuances, but they have essentially defined the modern developed world for over a century—tend to spend anywhere from 20% to 25% of their total annual income during December.
We aren't Americans, and I think we can all agree that things have become somewhat distorted. Gifting should ideally be about affection and presence, rather than just grabbing items from a shopping mall. Instead of buying a partner an aromatherapy lamp or a pair of earrings, perhaps a long walk through a local park followed by a deep conversation would be more meaningful? Or even writing a poem? Perhaps we should focus more on seeking forgiveness and showing goodwill—true gestures of love and new beginnings—rather than just handing over physical objects.
With that in mind, I would like to request a gesture of goodwill from you, Mr. moderator and administrator, on behalf of a small group of loyal users within the Formula 1 subforum. Please, unban Mamin. We miss him.
Naturally, the reasons why you shouldn't do this are immediately obvious. To preempt the inevitable pushback from the contrarians—mostly those lurking in the football subforum—I’ll state it plainly: Mamin has racked up a record number of warnings and bans, both under his own name and via his various clones, which also hold record numbers.
Is there any actual reason to reconsider, though? Well, yes. First, we are requesting this reinstatement specifically and exclusively for the Formula 1 subforum—the place where he is wanted and where his absence is actually felt, rather than in areas where he caused friction. Second, quite sincerely, the vast majority of our subforum community truly wants him back. This isn't just because he didn't cause trouble here, or because we believe he has matured significantly since his "troublemaker" phase (he seems to have finally moved past his rebellious adolescence); it's because he is a constructive and passionate member of the Formula 1 enthusiast community. Third, since the Formula 1 subforum recently gained another moderator, the ability to monitor activity and quickly address any potential issues is doubled—though I don't expect such issues to arise, which is why I am writing this in the first place.
The fourth and final reason is simple: this is the season of giving, and one should give to those who are known for their goodwill and affection.
