Can anyone lend me a hand with my Canon Pixma? I just finished setting up Windows 7 32-bit, but the system isn't recognizing the printer at all. It feels like I might need to hunt down a driver meant for a different HP model since the specific one for the 6122 isn't playing nice with Windows 7. Any ideas on which one might work?
Thanks 🙏

Do you even still have the CD-drive with the drivers for that old HP printer?

I've got them on a CD, but they won't install on Windows 7—that's the whole headache. That's why I'm scouring the web for them... I think there's a driver for an HP EliteBook or something similar, but I can't say for certain.😲

Look, if it's not recognizing it, it's probably just being stubborn. Try this: click Start, right-click on "Computer," then hit Properties. Down in the bottom left, click on Action Center, then Troubleshooting, then click "Run programs designed for older versions of Windows." Run that, and honestly, that should do the trick.☕

Regarding your previous question—try this: click Start, right-click "Properties" at the bottom left, then head into the Action Center. From there, select Troubleshooting and hit "Run programs designed for older versions of Windows." If you run that, it should hopefully do the trick.☕

I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes... wait, remind me again—which one was it that required the right-click?

Man, you're pulling my leg here... I hit Start, right? Mouse my way over to my Computer, right-click, hit properties, left-click—boom—and the whole system just starts screaming at me. Like, seriously.

I'm not joking. It's just that I'm not at my home desktop right now—I'm stuck at work using Windows XP, so I don't have the muscle memory for how things are laid out on my Windows 7 setup back home🙂 ...so don't worry about it. Thanks.

Honestly, you should just grab the drivers from the HP website. They have a whole section dedicated to them. You've gotta do a little digging for newer operating systems, but seriously, the stuff mentioned above ought to work fine. I mean, I can't believe people think you have to go out and buy a brand-new HP just because you upgraded your OS. I’ve heard some ridiculous talk to the contrary, but it's nonsense.😲

Pop the disc into the CD-drive that came with your printer
Open my Computer
Go to the CD-drive and open---
Locate the setup.exe file
Right-click setup.exe and select Compatibility
Set it to Windows XP SP3, click Apply, then OK
Run the setup now and you'll have the printer installed without any issues

What’s really the point of trying to force older drivers to run in compatibility mode? It feels like extra work for very little payoff. Like what Casey Long2 was suggesting earlier—it’s probably much simpler to just grab the driver meant for Windows 7 32-bit and call it a day...
