Hey there
I’m gearing up for surgery on my lower leg soon
A couple of years back, I was in a nasty wreck, and now I’ve got two screws sitting in my right shin—though those were actually pulled out about a year ago—plus a metal rod running from my knee down to my ankle
Has anyone here gone through something similar? I'd love to hear what the experience was like for you
How long does the hospital stay usually last? And what's the deal with physical therapy and getting back on your feet? Just looking for some insight

Thanks a million

My husband just had the metal rod pulled from his knee—he had, I think, about 16 screws in there. He made it into the hospital one evening, was in surgery by the next morning, and they actually discharged him just two days later!
I believe he managed to ditch the crutches after his first follow-up appointment, though I can't say for certain. He’s sleeping right now, so I haven't been able to check, but I'll take a look as soon as he wakes up.🙂))

I’ve still got two screws sitting right above my knee, plus another two down below—actually, I had those bottom ones pulled out about two years ago.
I haven't ended up back in surgery yet, though.

Anthony Hernandez12, did they actually recommend that you have it removed, or is that entirely up to your own discretion? What are the potential repercussions if that rod remains in place, and what specific material is it composed of?
