What’s actually the best way to merge two different clips of a movie into a single MPEG-4 file?
I was searching online and saw people recommending Handbrake, but when I finally downloaded and installed it, I could only join half the movie because the version I have isn't registered.
Does anyone happen to know of another program I could use to stitch a movie together without needing to register or pay for a license? If you do, maybe you could send over a link.
THANKS

No, you don't need to worry about that; Handbrake is free software and it handles this perfectly well.
Try doing it this way in Handbrake:

Under video, select Stream Copy
Open the first part of the movie via file/open video file
Then go to File/Append avi segment and add the second part of the film
Finally, just go to file/save segmented avi

It definitely works; I just tested it myself.

When I try to jump to the first part of the movie and hit select, I get this error message:
Couldn't locate decompressor for format MPEG-4 (unknown)

Handbrake requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
decompress video. DirectShow codecs, like the ones used by Windows
Media Player, aren't really suitable here.

Basically, Handbrake just joins AVI files, but if you want to merge MP4 and WMV, you should grab a plugin and drop it right into the Handbrake plugins folder. Or, if that sounds like too much work, maybe it’s easier to just download VideoProc Converter, encode everything into an AVI first, and then stitch them together using Handbrake. You can even overlay subtitles and stuff like that. I guess the easiest way is to just look up some Handbrake tutorials online; there are plenty of great ones out there.
Good luck with the project! I use Handbrake all the time to pull audio in or out and handle all sorts of other tweaks, and it always works perfectly for me.

What’s a solid program for merging several .avi files into one big one?
I'm looking to stitch about ten different clips together into a single file!

just trying to put maybe ten clips together into a single file.

I used to use DVD Flick for that sort of thing.
