Since this French film is hitting US theaters on 06. May, I figured I’d give it its own thread...
When you hear the name Jean Reno, you probably immediately think of "Leon" or "Nikita," or maybe even "Crimson Rivers." Those are the roles that actually put him on the map. Honestly, over the last few years, Reno kind of got lost in the shuffle, churning out a bunch of mediocre—if not outright bad—stuff like "The Da Vinci Code," "The Pink Panther 1 & 2," and "Rollerball."
But from what I can tell, "The Immortal aka 22 Bullets" marks a return to some darker, more serious territory for Reno. It’s a French revenge thriller directed by Richard Berry, who’s primarily known as an actor in the US but has over 90 credits under his belt. Not only is he directing, but he’s also playing a lead role and co-wrote the script, which is based on a novel by Franza-Olivivar Giesbert. The budget sits at about $25 million, and Luc Besson is one of the producers. Jean Reno leads the cast, supported by Merad, Gabriella Wright, Venantino Venantini, Claude Gensac, and Berry himself. The US premiere is slated for March 23, 2010. Hopefully, we see it pop up in local theaters shortly after, similar to how some other French titles have landed here recently.

PLOT
After a long, brutal and successful career in the Chicago mafia, Charly Matteï has gone straight. For three years, he has lived a quiet life devoted to his wife and two young children. Then, one winter morning, he is left for dead on the docks of the old port with 22 bullets in his body. Somehow he survives. And goes looking for Tony Zacchia, the only man who would dare to try to kill him. Zacchia made just one mistake: he failed.
