It’s been about ten years since his last record, and let’s be honest—when one half of the legendary Dead Can Dance finally drops something new after such a massive gap, it’s usually a coin toss between total garbage or an absolute masterpiece. 😁 Well, if you ask me? This one is a straight-up masterpiece. 😬
We’re looking at eight mostly phenomenal tracks here, including a few gems that actually trace back to the brief Dead Can Dance reunion 2005... My personal favorite has to be Wintersun—it’s got this incredible electronic edge, and with his legendary vocals, you can really hear just how much studio magic went into making it sound so lush. Then there’s Utopia, which is a total standout (and honestly, the only track on the whole album under five minutes! 😬), and finally Crescent, where the lyrics kick off with
The stars you see in The Night sky have been dead for centuries Starlight creates The illusion of Life for All Thes years
And even if that vibe doesn't feel perfectly "of the moment" for 2010, 🙄 Perry clearly pulled inspiration from some deeper, non-mainstream influences. For instance, The Bogus man is basically pure trip-hop territory, and I honestly can't wrap my head around why critics and everyone else seem to be ignoring it! 🙂
