Honestly, I was just reading an interview where she mentioned that nothing irritates her more than being constantly compared to Joni Mitchell 🤣

I’m feeling the exact same way—honestly, I was even holding myself back from commenting because, let's be real, I don't exactly feel the need to sit here and overanalyze why I'm loving this so much right now...

I'm listening to it right now, and man, it is pure genius. It’s so unexpected, jumping through all these different styles, and her voice just hits different this time. She isn't playing games anymore 😉 she's completely polished her sound. I gotta admit, I kind of miss that old freakiness she used to have, but honestly, this is beautiful too...

What a shame; personally, I find her voice to be the finest instrument she possesses. :/

Ok... I gotta admit, I just sat through the whole album and... man. She sounds like a COMPLETELY normal singer. Just non-stop. I was really hoping she’d mix things up, you know? Like, some tracks being one way and others being totally different... but everything is just the same. And... after maybe thirty minutes, I just kind of checked out... 😢 It feels like she lost something in the process. A bit of that edge. Even though her voice is gorgeous... this new, "standard" technique just feels kinda soulless to me...
I can't help but wonder what pushed her toward this direction... 😢

It sounds a bit more grounded now, though "normal" still isn't quite the right word for it—but hey, at least it’s not boring! I went ahead and trimmed out a few of those tedious bits to keep things moving. Once I get a chance to sit down and really dive into it with a more attentive ear, I'll definitely have more to share. 😁

..About half an hour ago, I was browsing through JL-ov's site and stumbled upon an article about her. Then, while wandering through YouTube, I came across "Sprout and The Bean." It’s truly lovely stuff. I ended up downloading it via Soulseek, alongside that massive, sprawling masterpiece "Have One on Me"—which sounds even more beautiful here—and because of that, I actually find myself daring to compare it to things like Joni Mitchell's "song for Sharon" or "Yes" by Anastasia and Tori Amos.
..Alright, let me go hunt down that album. 😉

I have finally sat down to experience her latest album, and frankly, there is little to say other than it is magnificent—absolutely stunning.
It is true that we won't hear those signature, raspy vocal strains (😍) that once defined her sound, which arguably undermines her previous claims regarding the unyielding nature of her Voice. On the contrary, she has demonstrated that she possesses far greater range; she can master whatever style she chooses, a quality that, in my estimation, places her among the absolute elite of musical artists. I hold no resentment whatsoever toward this sudden shift in direction. Rather, I see it as a sign of genuine evolution. She refuses to cling stubbornly to the exhausted concept that originally brought her fame; instead, she is prepared to march boldly toward more commercial waters, guided by gorgeous, playful melodies and unexpected, refreshing harmonic shifts. In my view, she is only improving, and I anticipate many wonderful things from her in the years to come.
