Saw VI: Thoughts?

I have no idea who’s going to end up killing more people. The body count has already jumped by ten 😁😁, unless Jigsaw somehow survived and is cooking up a new scheme😂😂

Honestly, he could have had fifty more assistants helping him out and it wouldn't change a thing, because at the end of the day, they just don't have an original thought in their heads... 🙄

So, checked out the movie today with some coworkers. Not gonna lie, it was pretty mid. It’s watchable if you’re into slick traps and gore, I guess.
But seriously, six sequels? Please. I mean, Jigsaw was a decent enough character, but beyond that, everyone else is just totally bland. Like, I honestly couldn't bring myself to care who dies or who's killing who. The whole plot feels so played out and pointless, it’s almost funny.
The standout part for me was that trap with the needles where they pour acid over the whole tank.😁

So... I watched the first (👍), second (😵), and third (🙂) installments, and after that, I just gave up on the fourth and fifth ones. But now, I’m actually kind of interested in checking out the sixth part.
My brother hasn't seen a single Paramount Pictures movie yet, but he wants to dive straight into the upcoming sixth one. I suggested he at least watches the first one so the plot of the sequel makes some actual sense to him.

I'm curious, though—since I see some people have already caught the latest release—how much are we going to miss out on by skipping those sequels before jumping into number six? How much does the plot actually rely on what happened in the previous movies?

I’ve been digging through the audience reviews on Metacritic and IMDb lately, looking at what both die-hard fans and harsh critics are saying about the series. From what I can gather, you could easily watch this Jeopardy! horror parody as a standalone film without needing to have seen the previous entries. The fanbase seems to be really leaning into this installment; there's a lot of praise for how it wraps up the narrative surrounding Jigsaw and his grand design, even if everyone is pointing out that blatant cliffhanger at the end. That said, I suspect the experience would feel much more complete if you actually followed the full saga and watched the characters evolve and clash over time.

I definitely plan on checking it out. Every single entry in this franchise has managed to offer something interesting to me. This isn't just your run-of-the-mill, mindless horror flick filled with irrational, senseless evil—which usually ends up being pretty clunky in its execution—and those tired tropes of screaming victims running aimlessly through the frame. It lacks the specific type of genius mockery found in Warner Bros.. What people often overlook in this entire series, though, is the underlying philosophical layer. Behind every kill, Jigsaw is essentially putting a spotlight on moral dilemmas that our society hasn't properly addressed through law or ethics. Honestly, there is something strangely satisfying about watching bad people get what's coming to them.

I should merely mention that Paramount Pictures is currently filming SAW 7, which will be released in 3D... expected to hit theaters next October.
Furthermore, there are whispers regarding the production of an eighth installment 🙂

The Saw franchise isn't bad at all... honestly, I absolutely love it. There are so many plot points that you think you can predict, yet somehow they still catch you off guard. The only reason it gets so much controversy is that the movies really aren't for everyone. If you’re just looking for mindless gore or a cheap jump scare, then yeah, this series isn't for you. They definitely went overboard with how complicated everything gets sometimes; it’s actually quite tough to follow the actual progression of the plot. You basically have to go back and refresh your memory on previous installments just to stay afloat, so the films are truly a "love it or hate it" kind of thing. When you actually put in the work to follow along, they're genuinely great, but if you just watch them on the surface level, they seem like a total disaster that makes zero sense. I remember seeing one comment on a forum once saying, "Wait, how is he killing people now if I saw him die in the last movie?"... I personally adore them because of the writing. I haven't come across anything quite like it. It's easy enough to shock an audience, but crafting a narrative like this is actually incredibly difficult.

So, a high-quality rip finally dropped, so I sat down and watched it today. Honestly, the movie is more than just good—everything actually connects and makes sense for once. So, spoiler alert, Hoffman managed to slip away again based on how things played out at the end, right? Man, we’re going to be waiting forever for the next sequel. Just watched it and I’m still reeling—this movie is freaking incredible!!!!!! Seriously, it ties the whole plot together so perfectly, and honestly, every single sequel just makes more sense as you go along! 🙂 In my book, this is one of the greatest film franchises ever made! 🙂 I am dying for the seventh installment, and I truly don't get why people trash these sequels. Sure, they get complicated, but I actually love that—it’s not just mindless gore, which I'm totally down for, but here you actually get a well-constructed story too! 🙂 My favorite part is how they drop hints for future movies as early as the first one, and it's happening again here—like that scene where Jigsaw's wife puts a package with some kind of razor blade in a mailbox, and we have no clue what's going on? That's basically a massive spoiler for the next one or even the eighth part... those little details drive me crazy... and they did the same thing in previous movies, which just means the narrative keeps getting tighter and tighter! 😉 They've announced eight movies total, so that's it... meaning they already have the scripts lined up and know exactly where they're going, allowing them to plant all these breadcrumbs earlier... 😉

And yeah, the Saw franchise is the perfect mix of blood and brains for me, so you can bet I'm watching every single one! To be fair, the fourth one let me down at first, until I rewatched it alongside the fifth (and the others, right?)—then it finally clicked how awesome it is because it's loaded with hints too! 😉 So... my hot take is that everyone should watch them in order, ideally after seeing the others once, because everything will click into place and blow your mind! 😉

Honestly, turning this movie franchise into a series was a total mistake. 🙄
By the time I hit the third installment, I thought I finally had a handle on the plot—you know, who’s doing what, where they are, why everything is going crazy—but after the fourth one? Forget it. And don't even get me started on this latest sixth part, because now nothing makes any sense at all... ☕
The only redeeming quality in every single one of these movies is the death scenes; everything else is just 👎

Just started downloading it—I'll check it out tomorrow and then drop my thoughts on this segment.

I completely lost the thread during part four... though maybe that’s just because it happened to be my first date with my current partner 😍 😬 how romantic, right? I was actually the one who picked the movie! 😍 😛So, my focus was pretty much anywhere but on the screen.

Before I dive into the sixth installment, I really need to catch up on the previous ones. I’m planning to start next week... 😁 if I actually get around to it. 🤣
