Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a free program, but there's this version called Google Chrome that acts as a lightweight, modified clone based on the Chromium source code. They've stripped out all those annoying parts that report your browsing habits back to Google. In plain English, they removed your unique user ID, so Google isn't getting logs of the sites you visit or your keystrokes. They also disabled error reporting and crash logs, and it won't automatically run any background updates. Visually, it looks identical, but honestly, it feels faster than standard Google Chrome.

Unlike Firefox, this version is significantly faster, more stable, and doesn't hog as much RAM.

Just like Firefox, you can use themes, and you can easily import your bookmarks from Firefox over to this browser.

I just finished downloading it—and I've already uninstalled Google Chrome 🙏.

Here’s my question: can this be set to the English language? Every single word I type is being underlined in red... apparently, the system thinks everything is a mistake simply because it's currently stuck in English 🤣

By the way, I've been using Internet Explorer for ages, and I have a massive list of sites saved in my favorites that I visit every single day—so, does anyone know how I can migrate all those bookmarks over to Google Chrome? 🤔

1. Right-click where you're typing and pick EN.

2. Export IE favorites as an HTML file. Then import that same file into Chrome.
2.1 Go to Bookmark Manager
then hit Tools at the top
click that...
Click Import Bookmarks.
Pick the file you saved from IE.

Then organize them however you want.

Been using Google Chrome for over 5 months now... everything's working perfectly.

Regarding the favorites—I actually figured out a much more straightforward way than the method you described. 😁

You just go to "customize and control Google Chrome"—there are two options tucked in the corner on the right—click that -> "Import bookmarks and settings," and then you see the option -> "From: Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google toolbar," -> "Choose what to import" 🙂
I selected "Favorites/bookmarks" and immediately a little icon appeared in the top corner (Other Bookmarks) containing all my old IE favorites. 🙂

Honestly, all credit to this browser—it’s absolutely stellar. I ditched Internet Explorer and Mozilla immediately—actually, I just uninstalled them entirely 🤣
From here on out, this is my only tool.
The options are intuitive, the speed is incredible... it's truly mind-blowing how fast certain pages load. A perfect browser. 👍

For me, certain pages—like those forum links here—pop up the exact second I click them.

btw, there are actually themes available for that browser 😉

It isn't just a decent alternative to the original "spyware-ridden" Chrome; honestly, it’s actually better because it doesn't come with all that built-in baggage. It’s essentially a cleaned-up, streamlined version.😁 Here, take this portable version and give it a spin; I’ve already dialed in all the settings exactly how they should be. It even comes with WOT pre-installed, and since I’ve already loaded in all the major, high-traffic sites, you won't have to worry about a thing.🍿😁

Thanks for the heads-up! 😁 I actually went ahead and installed the latest build (version 8.0.555.0 (68000)) directly from their site before seeing these replies... the only hiccup I ran into when I first fired it up was that error message mentioned on the page William Kim9 linked (failed to start because d3dx9_43.dll was not found), though it somehow kept running just fine... I noticed you're using the 7.0 version (assuming that's your screenshot)... Is there any actual advantage to that one over this newer build? I jumped straight onto WOT once I got the browser running, and then added Tampermonkey for the scripts 😁 As for settings—is there anything specific I should tweak on this version, or is everything already optimized in that portable build you mentioned? My data usage is pretty tight, so even losing 35 MB feels like a hit to my wallet 😁 Honestly, this might become my new daily driver; it’s got an integrated adblocker, and I’ve already cleaned up that adblock.ini list 😁
And one more thing—it doesn't force those constant Google updates on you anymore (which, let's face it, absolutely hammers a machine running on only 512 MB of RAM 😬 ))

It’s built on Chromium, but word on the street is it actually runs faster than most other browsers out there.

Alright, I just finished installing it myself—honestly, it’s top-tier, works like a dream, absolute five-star stuff. My only headache is that I can't seem to add anything from their web store, so I ended up having to grab everything through Google Chrome instead. Is it just me tripping out here, or is this happening to everyone?🤷

True, the browser is fast, and if you’re just looking at anonymity, sure, fine. But...
Saying it uses fewer resources is a total joke. Every single tab you open eats up memory, and it's obvious this thing hogs more RAM than everything else I have running combined.
For example, I've only got four pages and my login session open...
