Does anyone happen to know if there's a private clinic in NYC or maybe somewhere the FBI handles things where I can get a GI tract screening using one of those video capsules? I'd really appreciate any leads.

I honestly don't think any private clinic is offering that yet. I remember hearing about some group at a major hospital in Chicago wanting to implement it, so you might want to check their website, but expect to shell out around 9-10 $0.00.

I mean, who actually thinks it's a good idea to go for a screening that’s pricey, somewhat unreliable, and doesn't even allow for a biopsy? If you're just trying to avoid a colonoscopy, my advice is to look into a CT colonography instead. It's completely painless, gives a pretty solid view of the colon, it's cheaper (roughly $300), and you can find it at almost any decent medical center. Of course, you run into the same issue with biopsies, but it definitely provides a clearer picture of any potential tumors.

I honestly feel that CT scans might be overkill if we’re strictly talking about routine monitoring. I recently underwent a colonoscopy without any anesthesia, and I have to say, the experience was significantly more manageable than I had anticipated. It really seems to come down to the patient's specific condition—things like inflammation or how much movement there is in the digestive tract—and, of course, the skill of the physician. Personally, I tend to recommend private clinics, such as $267, because they prioritize treating you with actual dignity; they take the time to listen to you rather than just rushing through procedures mechanically.

Perhaps you could head over to the colonoscopy discussion thread to read some of the other experiences shared there. My previous post was simply my way of expressing gratitude for an exam that went smoothly, even though I know others have endured quite a bit of pain. Again, I truly believe the outcome depends heavily on both the individual and their doctor.

Honestly, if you're feeling this much anxiety about it, you might just want to go for a colonoscopy under anesthesia instead.
I actually had a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy done at the exact same time once, and it was perfectly fine.
With the anesthesia, you're out for maybe 15 minutes and then everything is over and done with.

Take me, for example 😲

Just opt for general anesthesia! God forbid I ever have to undergo another colonoscopy; there is absolutely no way in hell they're doing that to me while I'm wide awake
