I’m honestly not sure what part of this isn't clicking for you.
From a historical or sociological standpoint—and really, any other angle, for that matter—the subject has probably been explored, but I don't think it's ever truly been tackled from a philosophical perspective (which, if I may say, is exactly what your post illustrates).
And at the end of the day, this subforum is dedicated to philosophy.
If there's enough interest, I suppose I could move this thread over to the social sciences section, but that’s really the extent of what I can do here—especially since the way the topic was originally framed feels much more aligned with social sciences anyway, and I have to admit, I wasn't particularly surprised when the discussion drifted in that direction.
