2009 World Aquatics Championships (Rome) - Discussion Thread

Winning is everything these days. Only winners get back up after taking an L. We’d look like total losers if we let this one slip away, but I still believe in us!

Cavill is totally gonna show Phelps who's boss, obviously!

The debate's finally over: we officially know who the best goalkeeper on the planet is.

It’s honestly such a relief to see Pavic proving once again why he’s arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet 🙏

Score is 2-4, now 5-4. We’re actually looking like a real team in this stretch since we're finally getting close to their basket, unlike those first two quarters. Plus, Pavic has been coming up huge with some clutch saves. If we can just stop missing shots, we've got this in the bag.

We had an extra player on the field today, and we absolutely should have capitalized on it. Two more goals would have been plenty to seal the deal.

But hey, it’s the same old story...

And yeah, we’re looking at a 5-5 tie right out of the gate.

Only the US national team could blow an obvious turnaround like this. Instead of just putting a dazed opponent away, we let them catch their breath and crawl back into the game.

Back to square one.

How can they expect to score when the ball moves so sluggishly toward an open man? It’s no wonder their shooting percentage is stuck at a measly 20% when everything is this slow

Barely scraping by for the bronze.

Get lost, Blazic. 😂

He’s talking about some kind of streak. 🙏 🙏

Finally grabbed that bronze. At least we're heading home from the UN with one medal under our belt. 🙂

sup fammmm 😁

1-0-7 ☕

rapidbison42, oh man, seriously, this is such a massive win! Honestly, the mental boost for our young guys is priceless. They’re heading home with a medal, and they actually did it on their first try!

😂 🤣

Good grief. Who exactly is doing this for the first time?
Go play marbles. ☕

hell yeah boys!!!!!!! huge win!!! BRAVOOO 🎉🎉🎉 :luxhello:

There was a time when it used to be like this

Don't play dumb with me🙂. This is our squad's first big showdown

Just let him be; he probably spent the entire day plotting how to churn out twenty different posts about those eternal losers led by Rudic, but it looks like even his "greatest coach in history" managed to shut him down completely.🙂

What "new" squad?

Pavic, Buslje, Dobud, Barac, Antonijevic, Hinic, Karac, Boskovic...
These guys have been on the national team for years. Stop falling for the nonsense they print in the papers. There isn't some "new" team here. We have maybe two or three new faces. And honestly, those few wouldn't even be playing if Djokovic and Markovic were available.
