If the reason for my medical leave—specifically the diagnosis code used for the claim—gets updated, am I still required to show up for the scheduled disability hearing? Does the original deadline established by the initial illness still hold true, or does everything reset?

I hope I’ve phrased this clearly enough...🙂

My hearing is set for March 25th, but I am planning on having the medical reason amended before that date arrives.

I suspect the answer is yes, at least based on how I interpret the regulations.
I recall a woman who had a hearing date approaching, and just a few days prior, she tried to extend her leave by switching to an entirely different diagnosis—typical American bureaucracy, I guess.
It didn't work out for her.

In that case, I really need a solid suggestion for an ailment that's easy to fake...😉 because I "fear" I might actually recover by then, and I'm currently part of that minority group that actually shows up to work when they feel healthy. Maybe if I play the part poorly, I can get rid of this burden for good....😁
