Great turn of events 😁
but... does Alonso still have KERS in his car? just wondering who might take pole tomorrow ☕

I’m counting down the minutes until they release the car weights—if they actually managed to shave off some mass, this race is going to be an absolute blast.

Can't wait for 🙂

No, only Ferrari and Nick Heidfeld will be running KERS at tomorrow's race.

It honestly feels like Renault is crushing it much more effectively without KERS in the mix
And by Renault, I’m obviously talking about Alonso, because let's be real, Piquet is playing in a completely different league altogether

It’s the exact same headache we're seeing with Williams and Nakajima—Rosberg breezes right into Q3, while Nakajima is out here struggling just to make it through Q2... I guess those free engines aren't worth much, then.

Honestly, you might find yourself having one of those rare moments where you just "leave your brain at home" for a change, 😉
(and I am certainly talking about that little debate we had yesterday)

because there will be plenty of predators lurking nearby when that happens. 😂

Yeah, we're absolutely crushing it!

Piquet is basically locked in for 17th at this point, and honestly, nobody can even argue with him—the car is light, easy to drive, whatever. The kid is just freaking reliable.🙂 He’s solid.

And hey, Alonso isn't looking too bad this weekend either.

👋 magic Alonso 👋

Now I just gotta see the qualifying times...

I mean, look at Piquet—he’s basically locked in for 17th place at this point and honestly, nobody can even argue with him given how light that car is and all that other stuff (luck, lightweight chassis, whatever)

plus Alonso isn't looking half bad this weekend either

👋 magic Alonso 👋

now if I could just see his lap times...

that's just his destiny, I guess☕
or maybe he just straight up doesn't know how to drive🤣

darkmarlin16 said:it looks like Renault performs better without KERS
and by Renault I mean Alonso, because Piquet is basically third tier

Look, the kid isn't exactly a superstar, but we really have to emphasize that because they lacked in-season testing, the team had to resort to constant tinkering with the cars during practice sessions and even qualifying, which meant they were essentially experimenting on the fly, and quite frankly, Piquet's car was lacking several key components... they were running comparisons between a car without KERS versus one with KERS and
comparing a car outfitted with new parts against the old chassis... and naturally, since Alonso is the superior driver with far more experience, he was the one handed the updated car... the engineers weren't entirely certain about what the results would be...

What is actually quite staggering is the fact that they cobbled together a brand-new car on Friday night and then, by Saturday,
they managed to squeeze out five or six decent laps... I find myself wondering if that CFD center is truly as powerful as they claim 🙏 🙏 🙏

Give this a read

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74574

And that is precisely why Alonso was projecting such optimism🙏

He genuinely believes Renault is back in the hunt for major points again...

If you ask me, they've already overtaken Toyota and Williams... and they are definitely closing the gap on Brawn GP

Why do I hold that view...

Simply look at the Q2 results...

In Spengler, they were a full second behind Brawn in Q2, yet now they are only within three-tenths🙏

Red Bull has always been fast during qualifying, though they tended to struggle a bit more once the race actually started

From what I recall, Alonso has always maintained that DDD provides the greatest advantage regarding race pace, specifically when the car is heavier—more downforce, less tire degradation, and much better stability under braking (which was further improved by removing the KERS system altogether)...

Man, that qualifying finish was absolutely wild!
Huge props to Vettel, but honestly, Alonso taking second was just plain annoying.
And man, Massa... what happened there??

It was a nice run while it lasted, but I have a feeling the honeymoon phase is about to end quite abruptly.

they managed five or six laps

makes sense why we only saw 21 laps total this morning... good old Alonso and Renault :hail!: :hail!:

By the way, here's the official forecast:

Tomorrow Hi 21°C / 69°F
Light Rain Lo 17°C / 63°F

Keith Jones19 said:it’s perfectly obvious now why he managed to pull off 21 laps on the track this morning... good old Alonso and Renault, what a legendary duo :hail!: :hail!:

I actually just stumbled upon a rather brilliant observation here... it’s entirely possible that they were essentially extracting more and more pace with every single lap they completed 🙏

The progress is undeniably rapid right out of the gate, though one has to remember we are dealing with a car that is practically a total newcomer 🙏

One really only needs to look at how much faster he was during Q2 compared to Q3

if they can manage to replicate that Q2 performance once more, anything could happen 🙏
