Hi.

My name is Peter and I'm 16. A few years back, I had an accident involving my eye, and my right eye looks pretty rough now... Basically, after dealing with constant inflammation, my eyelid ended up being larger than the healthy one.
I can't just walk around like this, and I've noticed I'm starting to isolate myself from everyone. 🤦
Right now, due to all those complications and infections, I have low intraocular pressure, which has caused the eye itself to shrink significantly. I'm considering getting a shell prosthesis while part of the eye is still in the socket, but I'm stuck wondering if the eye will continue to shrink or if there's any chance it might stabilize or even regrow. 🤔 . It's a massive decision. I want to know if the prosthesis will be mobile and how long it takes to stop feeling like you're wearing a fake eye. Regarding the eyelid, I'd consider surgery, but I'm unsure if they can be adjusted enough to look natural. Could the eyelid adjust on its own once I start wearing the prosthesis?
If anyone here has dealt with something similar or faced these exact issues, please weigh in.

Between fighting for her life and everything else, losing the eye has been a massive blow. I want to make sure she gets the absolute best prosthetic possible.

I’ve been reading about Dr. Popijač in Savannah!
Is he considered the best in the field? And does the process involve getting a temporary prosthesis first before moving to a permanent one?
Can someone walk me through how this works and what the best course of action would be?

We have a little one who is nearly a year old and dealing with some eye issues. He has to wear an ocular prosthesis that we had custom-made by Dr. Popijač in Savannah. During those first few days, we struggled quite a bit with putting it in and taking it out, but now, he’s making it almost impossible. He won't let us open his eyes at all; he kicks his legs, pulls away, and just squirms so much that we can barely maintain control over him. It has already been four days since he last wore it, and we feel a sense of urgency to take action... Are there any other parents here navigating this same struggle? Who would you recommend we reach out to for guidance? We are deeply concerned that if he isn't wearing the prosthesis regularly, the development of that side of his face might be delayed or even permanently stunted.....
