Anonymous said:😂...just give me the short version of where we're at so I can figure out which services I can actually offer... instead of just talking shit😁😁

Basically, a wall blew out, so we need a contractor and cash to buy materials (I assume) to build a new one. We also need your help because those two spent an entire day skimming the ceiling, and there’s still one more section left that's a total nightmare. Same deal with the bathroom—we need you there since part of it is being enclosed in a shower stall.
Angela Newman33 is way more involved in this than anyone else, and she's always on top of things, so she should be the one listing the actual needs and what kind of pros we have on deck (not sure if we even have a tile guy...) I'll hit you up once I'm driving past the site so we can check it out and maybe make a list of what's needed. From what I can see, the bank account is sitting at zero, and we seriously need to fix that first because...
She already told you, and everyone else too besides the fact that even if we had the cash for materials, we're still missing this:

Angela Newman33 said:Aside from needing more love, we're also missing all this gear:

A toilet
A shower stall (we'll be getting a tub)
A bathroom vanity with a mirror
Faucets for the shower and sink

We also need a tile guy and a plumber
The laminate flooring is going down this Saturday (assuming the walls are finished and dry by then), so it would be great if someone who actually knows what they're doing could swing by.🙂
We're also looking for a mason to lay the bathroom floor tiles, patch some holes, and seal up the gaps around the windows.

Installing laminate isn't rocket science... I actually have someone in mind who can handle it if they take my advice... even Sandra Garcia7😍...
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the window holes... are you talking about around the new windows or just where the old ones used to be?
Anyway, I might be able to help out with some manual labor, but I'd need to see the job first. If Sandra Garcia7 doesn't flake on me and takes me out for a beer, we can work something out.
Down here in the South, we're pretty cheap—just a beer should do it, since we don't really go for the hard stuff.☕

Angela Newman33 is a bit too much about this right now; she's constantly on edge, so she really ought to lay out the actual requirements and let us know who's available (not sure if we have a tile guy yet...). I'll hit you up once I'm driving through town so we can take a look and maybe put together a shopping list. From what I can tell, the budget is totally tapped out, and we definitely need to fix that first because...
She already sent you a message, and the rest of us too but even aside from the fact that we're short on material money, we're also missing this:

I can't help out financially😁....plus, I've been working for free the last few months anyway😍...but this would at least be useful for someone :P...
We might even be able to touch up the tiling depending on how much work it actually takes.☕

I’m not quite sure how old the kids are, but I’ve got a ton of books, picture books, and cartoons left over from my little brother. I can definitely pull some of that together as a gift if anyone needs it!

I could probably help out with some manual labor too, though fair warning—I’m a bit of a klutz.

Anyway, I’m down to help out with some heavy lifting, but I gotta see what we're actually dealing with first.... if Sandra doesn't flake on me and drag me out for a beer, we can probably work something out.
People from the South know how to hustle for a little cash.... in this case, just one beer since alcohol isn't even a big deal for us.☕

While those hooligans were smashing walls with sledgehammers, they ended up making a bunch of messed-up holes too...
Joking aside, we need to rip out that massive window and put in two smaller ones, whatever we can manage to fix up.
But hey, let's see what kind of mess we've got by Saturday.

I'm not sure where everyone stands on painting? For example, I could handle that... maybe some drywall work too, though I can't give a 100% guarantee on the drywall... but there's a good chance I can manage it☕... I can lend out my tools, but only to people who actually know what they're doing😁...

The joke is, we should probably ditch that massive window and just install two smaller ones—whatever works best for the framing.
Anyway, let's see what actually gets finished by Saturday.

Look, installing windows and doing some finishing work isn't exactly rocket science🙄...you could have led with that!😁
On another note, when are we grabbing a beer? I talked to him last week, so I want to give him an update before he starts thinking I'm ghosting him.😁...he already thinks I'm avoiding him.😍

Basically, Sandra Garcia7 laid it all out for us here.

We’ve got two contractors who finished the ceiling, and they mentioned they'd jump back in to help if things don't go according to plan during the actual work window.

Still—better to have more hands on deck, just in case.

We're also going to need more wall paint, since we only picked up enough for two rooms so far.

The truck is coming today to haul away those piles of junk

It just depends on how much they can actually fit

$167 I've got enough for this round, but I'm totally broke for the next one

If half of that debris pile is still there, we won't be able to finish cleaning up completely, so we’ll have to focus on working on the bathroom this Saturday

Is there any way I can grab another load on credit and pay you back tomorrow or whenever? I should have the funds hit my Chase account around 6 PM...

edit: actually, when exactly is the truck showing up?

If I had known about this, I wouldn't have bothered buying any of it... Honestly, some people are so shady when they call me; they conveniently leave out the important details. It feels like there's a whole camp working against us, who knows.🙄To me, none of what you're telling me really matters unless it's something visible, like if we could actually see the issue. Or maybe I should ask Sandra Garcia7, since I know she's an expert when it comes to this kind of stuff.😍...

Heh, my wife told me we could head out tomorrow around 5 if it works for the job.
Angela Newman33, you free that afternoon or whenever you want to touch base?
Let's figure out what needs doing and get a solid plan together for the weekend.

Ah... my bad... we actually already headed out.

Just got back.

Two garbage trucks just got hijacked—and there’s still at least half the fleet left out there. 🤦 )

Another window's closed.

The wall guy just swung by to check things out—says he'll be here tomorrow for the prep work and then we’re looking at painting on Wednesday.

So, looks like we might knock out the laminate flooring this Saturday—then hopefully get the kids moved into their rooms by Sunday. 🎉

Shoot me a DM with your info—I'll drop my number so we can figure out when and where to meet up.

We'll be hanging out there tomorrow—anytime from about 10 or 11 until maybe noonish.
Let’s just hang back for a second and see if the guy actually needs a hand with this.

Hey, does anyone from social services or those damn government bureaucrats actually give a damn about these kids?

Because if we fix everything now—pouring in all our time, effort, and money—only to watch it all fall apart again in six months, then what was even the point? 😉

Just waiting to see if the contractor needs an extra hand with anything.

I can't make it that early... it's a workday. I won't be free until around 5:30 PM. Just touch base with Sandra Garcia7; she'll text my cell. Honestly, he barely does anything at his actual job—he just spends all day venting on internet forums...😁...

I don't even know where to begin with this one. It’s just... it's exhausting. You see these things happening and you think, "Surely, they can't be serious?" But then they are. They always are. I was sitting there, staring at my screen, thinking about how much energy we waste on nonsense, and then this hits me. It’s infuriating! Honestly, I’ve had better days after a three-hour delay at LAX, if you catch my drift. It’s all just chaos. Total, unmitigated chaos. kaže:
Does anyone actually give a damn about these kids? I mean, seriously—is there a single soul working at Child Protective Services or any of those other bureaucratic government agencies who actually gives a flying rip about what happens to these children? It feels like everyone is just shuffling paperwork while things go south.

Look, if we go all in—if we pour our sweat, our sanity, and every single cent of our hard-earned money into fixing this mess—only to watch everything slide right back to exactly how it was six months from now, then what was the point? We’ll have nothing to show for it. Absolutely zero. It's a total waste of breath. 😉

I was out there today and it just hit me... it’s honestly heartbreaking. I saw how much work the crew put in—and man, I can only imagine the absolute chaos they had to deal with behind the scenes. I even ran into Angela Newman33 while I was there.🙂 I’ve seen everything that’s going down... honestly, it kills me. I can't believe my brain completely checked out for five seconds straight. If I had just stayed focused, I would have absolutely crushed it. There’s no question about it.😍Honestly, massive respect to maZGa. Seriously, props where they're due.🙏👍Angela Newman33 actually cornered me earlier and grilled me about why I bailed on work early today. She wanted the whole story, all of it. But honestly? I’ve gotta hand it to her—she really hit the nail on the head. It finally clicked for me. I realized that "his crew" is actually showing up there and putting in the real work. And they aren't kidding around, either! They truly are getting it done. Those kids have such incredible passion.👍Look, I’m just going to say it: people, please, for the love of everything holy, leash your dogs in the yard. At least two of them! It is absolutely not pleasant out here. Seriously. I was trying to enjoy my morning coffee on the porch today—just a quiet moment, you know?—and instead, I’m dealing with this chaos. It’s exhausting. Just do us all a favor and keep them contained.😁

toilet flush valves
bathroom vanity with mirror
shower and sink faucets

Since I’m a bit out of the loop, what ended up happening with this?

If not, I’ll just pass this along to my professor. He mentioned he could probably sort out the plumbing issues...😉

Actually, I think I even have an extra toilet tank sitting in my garage, still in the box. I can donate it if that helps...🙂

It’s a shame I lost track of my brain for literally five seconds, otherwise I would have absolutely crushed it over there..😍.. props to MaZGa though..🙏👍.. Satori filled me in on why you ducked out of work early and all that.. and honestly, hats off to analogheron19, I finally get it now—'his guys' actually show up and get their hands dirty.. and they really do!!.. those kids are incredibly passionate..👍.. seriously though, people, please leash those dogs in your yard (at least two of them), because it’s not exactly a pleasant experience..😁

You only need to leash one; the other two are basically just giant puppies👍
If there is any way I could get a text in the next couple of days regarding which contractors we need for Saturday morning (I'm traveling to Europe through Friday, so I want to avoid getting blindsided by costs), I'd appreciate it. That way, before I head out, we can swing back through Indianapolis in a larger group and try to knock out as much as possible between 1:00 and 2:00.
