So I was having this decent back-and-forth with F10XX, but then Resonator went ahead and nuked my posts. One of them was actually pretty important because I was laying out why people like me shouldn't be lumped in with the whole instability thing, basically pointing out how certain totalitarian regimes share similar patterns. Resonator just wiped it anyway with this note: "Please refrain from discussing the motivations behind crimes committed more than 60 years ago".

The whole thread is about the investigation into two individuals regarding crimes from 60 years ago, yet we aren't allowed to talk about the motives? Like, what am I supposed to write about then? Makes zero sense.

Honestly, I think the edge and Resonator should probably lose their mod privileges since they're clearly biased as hell.

Maybe that's why you guys get so incredibly worked up over the Nationalists vs. Partisan stuff?

When something is truly "exhausting," people just stop reading it. They skip the topic entirely.

The moderators' explanations say everything about them. This thread is meant to address communist atrocities, but I suppose one shouldn't mention the Manolić investigation or those crimes.😂 The FBI knows everything.☕

When Joža finally faces the heat, will we actually be allowed to write about it? Or are we expected to remain silent, much like the children of Pol Pot's revolution?😂

I’m standing right behind Resonatorov on this one.
There really isn't any reason to drag this whole thing out into a massive debate.

What you stand for and represent has been obvious for ages, and frankly, it’s completely irrelevant to this entire situation. Does your opinion somehow carry double weight just because you hold a moderator position?

Give me a rational explanation. How is it surgically possible to run a thread about the investigations into Boljkovac and Manolić without ever mentioning the actual charges they might be facing?

Any moderator who uses their own biases—rooted in some kind of ideological worship—to dictate what is considered relevant and what isn't, needs to be removed.

Look, I'm the admin here, so my opinion isn't just worth double; it's effectively infinite.

Nobody is asking for surgical precision, but the whole point is to keep a topic within its actual scope so we don't have to start from the Stone Age, talking about Ilir, or digging through the Ilir investigations every single damn time.

Before you start lecturing me about ideological worship, maybe take a second to reflect on your own little cultish tendencies, and while you're at it, try looking at the bigger picture instead of being stuck in such a narrow lane.

There really isn't any reason to drag this whole thing out into a massive debate.

So, I guess if this whole discussion about the Manolić investigation and Boljkovac is centered on crimes committed sixty years ago, we aren't allowed to actually talk about the motivations behind those crimes because that would be "derailing"? I mean, if they didn't have some kind of reason for committing those crimes, they wouldn't have done them in the first place, and then there wouldn't even be a topic to discuss. That seems like a pretty valid way to expand the conversation.

But honestly, I think that's only being called derailing because I managed to prove something in my posts that directly contradicts what the other side is claiming. So apparently, proving facts is "derailing," and that's why certain posts get deleted just to hide the truth—whereas when Resonatorov and his buddy F10XX post stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject, it doesn't count as derailing and stays up: I haven't seen any 'leftists' hanging out at the local boardwalks or beach bars.

I mean, what does people gathering at the boardwalk or beach bars have to do with this investigation? Nothing, really. But hey, whatever helps them sleep at night...

Look, there’s no question here: we are talking about actual crimes.
Any attempt to justify those crimes or list mitigating circumstances is something that belongs in a courtroom, not here.

I have no interest in seeing people try to downplay or relativize these crimes, even if they happened six decades ago, on the subforum I moderate.

Do you even understand the concept of "derailing a conversation"??
We all know the reasons why someone committed certain crimes; analyzing motives isn't really a political issue anymore.
The actual political question is whether the people responsible will ever answer for their crimes, and specifically what can be proven against them and how much.

Real classy. Honestly, I’m just sitting here wondering why all those massive posts from the left wing trying to excuse the crimes haven't been nuked yet, and how it works out that basically everyone except Adler gets banned while the conservatives get the hammer.

Maybe I wouldn't even care if I hadn't stumbled upon that post about the waterfront protests before it got wiped. After seeing that, nothing else really matters much, I guess.

During that specific discussion I went ahead and wiped out every single post that tried to make excuses for those crimes, regardless of whether they came from the "liberal" side or the "conservative" side.

Is there some specific reason you're looking to read "justifications" for committed crimes in this thread?

Nah, not really, but I guess those kinds of posts just pretty clearly show who people actually are, you know?

The scope of this topic stretches back sixty years, whether you care to admit it or not.

There’s no need to be crude. Nobody was even bringing up Ilir, were they?
But there is a very specific window of time in question here—one that places both of them right in the crosshairs of suspicion.

I won't waste my breath debating the delusions and failures of my political convictions. I highly doubt you could even begin to list every camp, pogrom, or mass killing committed in its name—not to mention the condemnations and evidence that follow. Still, please, do allow us to indulge in the supposed infallibility and humanitarian grace of those kangaroo courts lacking legal counsel, especially given the mass executions for which two Josephs are being held accountable. Shall we talk about their commitment to human rights?

If that is truly what you believe—though I highly doubt it—then why was my thread on communist crime in the 1950s recently shut down? Does such a topic not warrant discussion? Or are we supposed to wait another twenty-five years for an initial verdict, followed by another twelve before it becomes final, just so you or someone else can hastily lock it away?

Sure. But how easy it is to write about the crimes of the "other side," even if they aren't all as legally shielded as they would like to be. I haven't noticed you being particularly bothered by the deletion or locking of threads involving similar topics when they concern communists.

It is always simple enough to find a reason to delete undesirable posts.

You could also just say: let the courts handle it, let the legal system decide. And sure, the courts should be the ones making those calls.

But we can't act like we shouldn't be debating this—whether there are mitigating circumstances, if the statute of limitations has run out, or even if it’s just timely to look into this now—in serious mainstream media outlets or among actual commentators. How are we supposed to have an actual discussion if the only thing we're allowed to write is "everything needs investigating" or "all crimes must be punished"?

Everyone agrees with that! So what’s left to talk about? Just repeating quotes from the news without actually adding any commentary?

In any case, I'm going to step back from any further debate on this topic and I won't be visiting this PDF anymore. Thanks ☕

The idea that discussing the motives behind crimes—or even speculating on potential culprits and sanctions regarding offenses committed sixty years ago—is somehow off-limits is, quite frankly, absurd...
What they call an "unnecessary broadening of the topic" is really just a more nuanced and comprehensive analysis of the exact same subject matter(which is what naturally happens in any high-traffic discussion thread)!

Furthermore, this "ban" sets a troubling precedent; we have navigated numerous discussions regarding criminal activity before—even contemporary matters, such as the Hodak case, for instance—and never once were we prohibited from debating the underlying causes, whether proven or merely suspected!
