Hi everyone. 🙂 So, I’m looking into getting rhinoplasty. I just turned 20 the other day. I really want this, but honestly, I'm terrified because I've read about potential infections. :O My fear is that an infection might leave my nose looking horrific—weird shape, weird color... I don't even know. If God wills it, I’m planning to go for it next year, once I've saved enough money.

My nose has been an issue since elementary school. It’s similar to Jelena Veljaca's—quite rounded and wide at the front—but she has those huge eyes that distract from it. My eyes are much smaller, so my nose just stands out. The bridge is quite wide, and I have this small bump on my profile that drives me crazy.

I’m doing this for myself, not for anyone else. Beyond that, I hate being in group photos because I always look awkward. I end up Photoshop-ing pictures just to fix it. I wish I didn't have to do that, but I just can't stand how my nose looks.

When I started high school, I thought people would be cool about it, but I was wrong. A guy in my class told me I had a potato nose. Then some girl—also in my class—said I looked just like my brother and pointed right at my nose in front of everyone. I have a decent figure, and having fuller lips helps distract from it slightly, but it's still there. I even heard one guy suggest I should wear a paper bag over my head... he thought I didn't hear him. Jerk.

When I wear makeup, I look pretty good, especially at night 🙂, haha. But I want to feel confident without the makeup, which I currently don't, all because of my nose.

When looking straight on, my nose isn't droopy and the nostrils aren't overly visible, which I actually like. I want to maintain that after the surgery. My biggest fear is ending up with a "pig nose," but hopefully not, since my nasal base is already quite low and small.

I’ll definitely need a bone break to narrow everything down. Can someone please share their experience if you had a similar situation? I am genuinely scared a surgeon might mess something up and leave me disfigured. Right now, I don't like what I see in the mirror. 😢

Is the procedure more painful when they have to break the bone? Is the risk higher? Please let me know. Best to all. 🙂

My nose has been bothering me since elementary school. It's kind of like Amy's—quite rounded and wide at the front, but she has big eyes so it doesn't stand out as much. My eyes are much smaller than hers, so my nose really dominates my face. The bridge is quite wide, and I have a small bump on my profile that really gets to me.

I'd be going through with the surgery primarily because it bothers me, not for anyone else. Besides, I hate taking photos in groups because I always look awkward. I find myself editing pictures in Photoshop quite often; I wish I didn't have to do that, but I just don't like my nose at all.

When I started high school, I thought there wouldn't be any teasing, but it really hurt when a guy in my class told me I had a potato nose. Then a girl from the same class said I looked exactly like my brother and pointed at my nose in front of everyone. I have a relatively good figure, and it helps that I have fuller lips which distract a bit from my nose. I also heard a guy say I should wear a paper bag over my head; he thought I didn't hear him, but I did. Jerk.

When I wear makeup, I look pretty good, especially in the evening 🙂, hehe. But I want to feel happy with myself even without makeup, which I'm not, because of my nose, obviously.

When looking straight at my face, my nose isn't drooping, and the nasal bones aren't overly visible, which I actually like. I want to keep it that way after the surgery. I'm just so afraid of ending up with a pig nose, but hopefully that won't happen since my nasal bones sit lower and are already small.

I'll definitely need to have the bone broken so it can be reshaped to be narrower. Could someone please share their experience if you have a similar story? I am truly terrified that a surgeon might mess something up and leave me disfigured, and right now, I don't like how I look... 😢

Is the procedure more painful or is there a higher risk when breaking the bone? Please let me know. Hi everyone! 🙂

Hey 🙂 every surgery carries risks, including rhinoplasty, but there's no reason to be afraid. It's such a common, routine procedure these days. Most people do it purely for aesthetics, even though everyone mentions things like deviated septums and such... I had my surgery two months ago, and if I had known it would be this painless, I would have done it long ago. They worked on my whole nose 🙂 to fix my profile, correct a deviated septum, and slightly shorten it 😉 I'm beyond satisfied, and I can finally breathe perfectly 🙂 The surgery was under general anesthesia for about an hour and twenty minutes; I didn't feel a thing and woke up totally normal. The new nose looks so natural, it's perfect.🙂 In most cases, I’d suggest looking into surgery... Best regards, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions...

Yeah, can someone explain the difference between local and general anesthesia? Which one is better... Has anyone here actually had to deal with a broken bone? I'm honestly terrified, I can't even put it into words. I'll probably need to take something for my nerves. Just really scared they might mess me up too much. 😢

slymoose95, how much did you actually end up paying for that surgery of yours? I'm genuinely curious. 🙂

I'm curious—has anyone here gone through with rhinoplasty to narrow a wide nose? And more importantly, were you actually happy with how it turned out?

It’s been 3 months since my surgery and I still have this lump on the left side of my nose. It feels just like some kind of subcutaneous pimple... and honestly, it's driving me crazy..😠

How much does a septum surgery cost at the local hospital?
General anesthesia is required. The doctor expects a 5-day stay in the hospital.

So, who did you go to for surgery to have it look like that?...😕

General anesthesia. The doctor’s predicting I’ll be stuck in the hospital for five days.

Hospital procedures are free—you just need your doctor to give you a referral to an ENT specialist. Once you're in their system, they’ll basically fix your deviated septum and throw in some cosmetic work to make it look better while they're at it.👍
Usually, you’re looking at being stuck in the hospital for about 5 to 7 days—and more often than not, it involves general anesthesia.

By the way, if you don't actually have issues with your nose functioning properly and just want to tweak it for aesthetics—don't go overboard. You don't want to end up in a situation where you can't breathe at night because you started snoring like crazy...
It’s pretty rare to find someone whose septum is naturally centered enough to just breeze through that without any issues.🙂

George Robinson58, I am seriously struggling with my nose issues.

Visually, it looks perfectly fine to me... just right
The real issue is that my nose isn't actually doing its job.
I honestly can't breathe through it... especially at night.
I need surgery just to get things back to normal.

Since I don't have supplemental health insurance, I heard that if I undergo a septum surgery—meaning for medical reasons rather than cosmetic ones—I'll likely have to shell out about $667...

I’ve been reading through the forums quite a bit—honestly, I've seen plenty of posts from women saying they ran into issues with Smith.🤷

Hi everyone 😁
I am looking for information regarding the pricing for purely aesthetic rhinoplasty performed by Dr. Tony. Additionally, I need to know if the cost of postoperative follow-up appointments is included in the initial quote, or if those are separate charges? I am also wondering about the preoperative requirements—are things like the EKG and blood work already bundled into the total price, or should I expect those to be extra costs?

Thank you

I'm just trying to figure out how much cosmetic nose jobs cost with Dr. Tony—and also, does the price include all those follow-up visits? Like, am I paying extra for post-op checkups, or is everything from the pre-op stuff (blood work, EKG, whatever) already baked into the initial cost?

thanks

I went in about a year and a half ago for a rhinoplasty, and Dr. Tony was the one who did the procedure. The price ended up being $3333 (and yeah, I double-checked that recently because a friend of mine went this year, so we caught up and compared notes 😉)
After the surgery, I had to go back to get the packing removed and the splint taken off, which obviously didn't cost anything extra. Then there was another checkup about two months later, but honestly, I haven't needed to go back since then—there hasn't been any reason to. If you're asking me, I'd definitely recommend Dr. Tony, but look, the best move is to just go in for a consultation. Talk to him, see if you vibe with him, and decide for yourself if you trust him or not. 👍

My bad, forgot to mention—you've got to factor in the extra cost for blood tests. It’s somewhere around $150$67, give or take. They didn't even end up needing an EKG for me.

And thank you so much, dear. I sent him an email, and he told me it would be $10,000. To be honest, I am terrified of the surgery and the recovery process. I'm scheduled for the procedure in about a month, and I've managed to scrape the money together... I just really hope I can get back to my normal routine quickly; I have exams coming up and I absolutely cannot afford to miss too much class. How long did your recovery take? Are you happy with the results? Please, give me a little breakdown of what it was like for you—I am honestly in a total panic right now, haha. Anyway, bye!🙂))

Bokic! Look, having those tampons stuffed up my nose was super uncomfortable, and once we finally pulled those out—plus the mold and the tape—I felt like I could finally breathe again. I stayed home for about seven or eight days, and honestly? Forget about going to campus or grabbing coffee with friends during that time. Dr. Tony told me I needed to rest, so I spent the first three days just icing my neck, and I was basically forced to just lie around and chill, which actually wasn't a bad thing! Every day just gets better. My nose was a little swollen at first, but it went down gradually. It didn't really bother me because I knew it was just temporary. Basically, I was pretty much back to my normal self after about ten days—the only thing was I couldn't wear sunglasses for maybe two months.

Yeah, I was a total wreck too, especially on that day. But honestly, the nurses were so incredibly sweet and comforting that it actually helped settle my nerves before they rolled me in. Everything went by way faster than I expected, too...☕
