How do I become a moderator?

Is that so? I had no idea. Managing a community on a platform like Reddit can be quite useful; you have the option to issue a warning before jumping straight to a ban, and there are even plugins for things like "yellow cards" where a warning actually displays visually to the user. One of the quirks of using certain older message boards is that links tend to open in the same window, so I ended up installing a script just to force everything into a new tab. I’ve also added a quick reply mod and even swapped out the layout to make the interface look more like an old-school vBulletin site... things like that. Sorry for drifting off-topic. 😁

Yeah, the moderation here works fine. Me and two other mods actually sat down and drafted the forum rules ourselves, which is why we implemented that warning system before banning people.
A quick reply feature? I don't have that enabled on my end, though it definitely would be useful.

If you ask me, it’s a complete joke.

The admins can see exactly how active a moderator is through the control panel, and honestly, if you want to actually do the job—you know, "monitoring the boards and policing posts"—you have to be showing up every single day. All that effort just gets you $0.00, which is basically nothing. The only real perk is having a platform to take your frustrations out on other users and getting that fake sense of "authority." That’s all there is to it.

Yeah, you can see everyone's activity levels in the control panel. It's true that you need to be consistent; if you don't show up regularly, they strip you of your moderator status.
But I would never use a mod position just to lash out at people. No way.
