Radeon takes the win here👍 though I’m sure wiredmarlin5 is just going to jump in and insist the GTX is superior...😁

Plus, when it comes to gaming, there's a definite edge there—higher resolutions tend to favor it over GeForce. Basically, if you're running big resolutions, go Radeon; if you're sticking to the smaller stuff, GeForce is your go-to...

For a 22" monitor running at 1680x1050, would an NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 be a better pick?

You’re probably going to set your games to 1920x1200 just because the image quality looks sharper at that level... personally, I don't see much point in cranking up the resolution if you aren't actually gaining visible detail—it feels a bit pointless... plus, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 is the better move here since it's cheaper, and you'll actually see about a 5% performance edge when running things at 1920x1200 👍

Look, you’re just trolling at this point and talking absolute nonsense...

First off, the GTX is definitely more powerful—even if there is some other little catch involved somewhere—and secondly, how on earth are you planning to run a 1920x1200 resolution on his ISO 22 monitor when the native max is only 1680x1050?

And hey, Betty Rogers2, why don't you stick to your own thread for whatever it is you need to say... instead of cluttering up the entire hardware forum with this stuff...

I'm really just asking about the graphics card here. I think I'll probably just pull the trigger on that GTX after all.
wiredmarlin5, it would be great if you could weigh in with your thoughts on this one.

I have a quick question 😲

I'm looking at buying this GPU

The site says it needs 500W, but my power supply is only 400W. Will that be enough? 😁😁

Just thought I'd ask. 🙄

It all really comes down to what kind of effort you're putting in 😉

I checked out this and this and this and honestly... I thought the Radeon was stronger, but now I'm starting to realize they were probably just looking at that old 192sp version

As for the resolution thing; my native res on a 17" is 1024x768, but I always set it to 1280x1024, and when I'm gaming, I usually push it to 1600x1024...
plus, you have to consider that the Radeon is much easier on the wallet...

Do you realize what wiredmarlin5 was getting at? Have you ever actually tried running a non-native resolution on an LCD and noticed how much worse it looks compared to the native one? Give it a shot.

Fine then, let's all just go out and buy cheap, outdated graphics cards.😁

Well, look, I've actually spent quite a bit more time digging through various benchmarks than you have, so I promise I'm not just throwing words around without any real foundation behind them... 😉

I know—that's exactly why I stopped arguing and just conceded the point to you.

@James Morris4—honestly, I don't think we should just brush off a $30 difference... 🙄

It depends on the context. If you're weighing two options where one is $5,000 and the other is $5,200, $67 I don't think that's a massive gap. But if you're looking at $50 versus $250, that's a different story entirely. It's all relative, I guess. 😁

Honestly, both options are solid... though I've said my piece regarding Betty Rogers2's graphics card—since she actually moved over to start her own thread, given that she was basically using everyone else's threads just to talk about her own rig anyway...

Could someone clarify? I'm lost here. 🤷🤷

Also, any recommendations for an $433 PCI Express card... maybe something like a

And how much wattage should my power supply be so I can just grab it now? 😛

What kind of power supply are you running right now?? If it’s just something basic like a 400W from an old Dell or whatever
... then this might actually work.

Which power supply am I using? I bought the case with the PSU already included. Is there any way to actually verify this?

Just open up the case and check the sticker on the PSU—tell me the brand and the wattage (xxxW).
