If I recall correctly, he put together the first local review for the HD 4770 graphics card. In his view, $333there isn't anything better out there right now.

Which ATI HD 4890 model is actually the best choice (Sapphire, Gainward, XFX...)?

Which one is the cheapest, which offers the best bundle, and which has the superior cooler? Weigh them up 😁

When should I pick up the Sapphire model from Best Buy $549...it’s cheaper than the other options, but I can't tell if there's a catch somewhere

I'm looking to pick up a new PCI-E graphics card.
Right now, I'm running an AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT paired with a 650W power supply—or at least, I think it's 650W, though I can't be entirely certain about the brand or if it's actually pulling its weight.
I've set aside a budget of up to $300
. I'll probably be checking out places like LinkedIn, Hard Rock Cafe, or Vimeo to see what's available.

Thanks for any input you can give me.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 with 216 cores - $443. Honestly, the price on this one is just too good to pass up, so you really shouldn't let an opportunity like this slip through your fingers... 🙂

I wasn't actually referring to him specifically, I was just speaking in generalities... 🙂

Anyway, here is the LinkedIn for the full review.

I’ve been scrolling through these threads, but honestly, the more I read, the more confused I get. This rig is mostly for sports titles (NBA, Football Manager, FIFA), web browsing, and streaming movies.
I found a decent deal on an MSI K9A2 CF-F motherboard, AM2+ socket, compatible with Phenom. It's at Technomax—using some American Express points—paired with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750.
Can someone tell me if a Gigabyte Radeon HD 4650 1GB, DDR2, 128-bit card would work well here? I'm sticking with my current 17" monitor for the foreseeable future, and the power supply is solid enough.

Could someone please tell me if a Gigabyte Radeon HD 4650 1GB, DDR2, 128-bit card would be a good fit? My monitor is currently a 17-inch, and I don't plan on upgrading that anytime soon—the power supply should be fine as well.

How much money were you planning on spending?

Anything mid-range starting at $500 and up is worth looking at. Honestly, stick to those tiers—there’s no point going higher. I might even grab something on the cheaper side to start with, since anything else would be a massive upgrade compared to this relic I've been running for the last 5 or 6 years.

Give the HD 4670 a little breathing room and it'll be fine.

I've run into an issue.
I picked up an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260. I installed the drivers from the disc, but once I download the ones from the web, install them, and reboot... as soon as Windows kicks in, I'm stuck with 8-bit graphics and an 800x600 resolution. :S

Look, this specific thread is meant for discussing purchases and gear acquisitions, not for troubleshooting technical glitches... if you're running into issues, please head over to the Help service where they can actually assist you properly.
I used to run that exact same graphics card myself, and it worked perfectly fine with the 185.85 drivers or anything older than that...

Any idea what the price tag on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 300 might be when it finally hits the shelves? 🤔

wiredmarlin5 said:Around $1500 imho.

Maybe if it hit $3,800 max, I might consider it... but $4,500 for a single card?🙄 Man, if I wanted to run SLI, just two GTX 300 cards would cost me $3000.... $1000 more than my entire PC did when I bought it three years ago...🤣

ATI will probably drop a cheaper card eventually, but I don't know what to do since I just don't trust them at all... I keep hearing about driver issues constantly... one thing after another...

I'm not sure whether to grab this GTX 300 or just wait for the next generation of DirectX 11 cards to come out??? When is the next generation even supposed to land???? Maybe late in the year, like November or December??? 🤔 Then the holidays roll around, so maybe there will be some sales or something???? hm... hm... anyone got any advice? 😳

Seriously, if you’re actually planning on buying a GPU, just go back and read the rules on the first page of this thread... if you even care about that sort of thing
