Why does my belly button hurt?

Why does it actually hurt when you poke at your belly button? Like, why is there sensitivity there when you're just messing around with it? It’s always been a total mystery to me. 😁

Jesus, I'm definitely not alone in this 😬 Whenever I accidentally scratch my nails against my skin or just touch certain spots, it hits me with this incredibly jarring sensation—almost like I’ve struck a nerve or something? It sends this weird, uncomfortable wave right through me, maybe down into my foot or somewhere similar... It's such an irritating feeling, isn't it?

I get that too—it’s almost like touching my navel causes this nerve sensation to spread, and I feel a bit queasy😁

though I suppose mine is shaped differently, so that might be why🤷

I’m with you on that... it doesn't exactly hurt, but man, it is incredibly irritating. On a side note, my mom’s friend's little boy actually dug around in his own belly button and made it bleed... so please, don't go shoving your fingers in too deep just to test out this theory 😂

Despite all the guys here acting surprised, we’ve actually reached a bit of a consensus. It turns out there really is some mild irritation when you're cleaning out your navel. And from what I can tell, it’s mostly happening to women. At least that's something to keep in mind, right? 😁

I mean... just like how we clean our ears,
you'd think you should probably clean your navel too (even if it's way less frequent).
To me, it's just basic hygiene.

Honestly, I wash my belly button with soap and water every single time I shower, and I never deal with any irritation... 😕
I’ve certainly never felt the need to dig around in there until it bleeds just to get it clean 🤷
