How to upload a profile picture (setting an avatar)

Hey everyone, I’m just gonna throw this out there since I’ve got no clue which sub I should actually be posting this in, so bear with me while I figure my way around here! I was looking at some profiles the other day—you know, like when you see someone's post and right there at the top it shows their status, then where they're from, and then boom, there's that little profile picture next to everything—and it got me thinking... how does one actually go about setting that up? Like, if I wanted to get my own face or some cool image to show up right there next to my info, what's the actual process to make that happen? How do I create or upload that specific little icon so it sits perfectly alongside my location and user tag? Any tips would be huge!

Just head over to "Options," then click on "Edit Avatar"—it’s pretty straightforward—and pick an image that's 50x50 pixels or smaller. Also, make sure the file size stays under 9.8 kB, otherwise the system might give you a hard time...

I need some help here!

I’m running into an issue trying to upload my profile picture. I keep getting this error message: "This is not a valid image file."

The file is a standard JPG and it’s only about 17kB—so size isn't the issue. I honestly have no clue what's going wrong with it.🙂

I just can't seem to get these images to actually upload properly.
I tried clicking on that little icon mentioned a few posts back and typed in a Google address, thinking it would direct me straight to the right spot, but I ended up with nothing but plain text showing up in my post instead. I suppose I might be missing something obvious somewhere.
I'm using my phone to do this, though I guess it’s possible that might be part of the issue.

You’ve got it all wrong. In , you're just dropping a direct link to an image—you actually need to find the file first and grab the specific URL address. If you're just browsing the forums on your iPhone, honestly, it’s probably easier to just upload the image directly. 😉

My apologies if I’m breaking some rule by digging up this old thread, but does anyone know if there’s any way for me to get my old avatar back?
