Best free video converters?

Alright, look, I am on a massive hunt for some decent video converters, but I swear, everything I stumble upon is absolute garbage. I cannot find anything actually good that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Please, for the love of God, recommend me a FREEE video converter—and I mean legit free—because I need this done RIGHT NOW!

PS: And seriously, if you could drop a direct link for them, that would be huge, because I am definitely not trying to accidentally download some nasty malware onto my rig.

Sadly, no luck there. My old Motorola RAZR just doesn't have the chops to handle an avi container... turns out tech moves way faster than I do sometimes—total bummer.
