Alright, check this out.

So, back when I was 16, I was weighing in at about 180 lbs and stood 5'9". Honestly, everyone gave me a hard time about my weight—even my best friends—until one day...

...I stumbled upon some legit info regarding how Japanese people stay so lean (seriously, they're some of the thinnest people on the planet). Basically, the second you wake up, drink a glass or two of water. But here’s the kicker—don't brush your teeth or even hit the bathroom first; just get that water down immediately upon waking. And try to aim for at least two liters throughout the day.

When I first read that, I was like, "Yeah right, how much water is gonna make me lose weight?" but I figured, whatever, I'll try it. Every single morning, I just downed water and more water—and I didn't even change what I was eating! Two months later, I had dropped 46 pounds. Now I'm sitting at around 143 lbs and still 5'9".😁

Give it a shot before you start judging me.

Hey, honestly, I’ve been struggling pretty hard with my weight lately, so I think I’m actually going to give your suggestion a shot... it sounds like it might not be a bad idea at all...

Respect. I’m starting tomorrow—I’ve heard and read about this enough times to know it actually works. It just makes sense that after being without water for 7 or 8 hours, you'd grab some H2O first, but most people just dive straight into food instead.

Do you eat breakfast? If you do, what does a "normal" breakfast look like for you?

you know what? keep drinking water first thing in the morning for a few more years and maybe you'll gain 10 pounds😲
and I guess if you drink something else or brush your teeth beforehand, it doesn't work? so as long as my metabolism is still relatively functional, I should just chug 2 or 3 glasses of water immediately?

it’s all just nonsense... you can only lose weight healthily through actual diet and exercise—not through some gimmick teas, drinking water the second you wake up, or cosmic shiva supplements!

What if I brush my teeth or grab a coffee first—does the magic stop working? So basically, as long as I haven't even moved yet, I just chug two or three glasses of water?

I mean, seriously, what kind of nonsense is this... you lose weight healthily through actual diet and exercise, not some pseudo-science tea, drinking water the second you wake up, or some miracle supplement!

What an idiot. I mean, how can anyone argue that drinking water after eight hours of sleep isn't the most natural, logical thing ever? I haven't run into a moron like this in ages. Go to bed.

It definitely works. How many times have we thought we were starving when we were actually just thirsty? Or how often you’re halfway through a meal, grab some water, and suddenly realize you’re actually stuffed and don't need more.

People with heart conditions should probably check with their doctor before cranking up their daily water intake.

I mean, seriously, why can't I just pee, wash up, and brush my teeth all before I even get started? 🤷

I'm on this diet right now based on a meal plan from a famous doctor. He insists you drink a glass of water first thing every morning and hit at least two liters of fluids throughout the day.

It is an absolute certainty that starting your morning with a glass of water on an empty stomach is one of the best things you can do, not just if you’re looking to shed a few pounds, but for your overall wellness as well. You really shouldn't be reaching for ice-cold water right away; instead, aim for something at room temperature or even slightly lukewarm to truly nourish your system.

Use some common sense here. Is it actually logical to assume you'll lose weight just by drinking a glass of water when you wake up? You’d have to be pretty delusional to believe that...
The standard advice is that you need about two liters of water a day just to keep your body functioning, but thinking that three ounces of water in the morning is going to melt away 60 pounds of fat is—well, it's desperate thinking, at best.
It's pretty obvious that the people praising this "weight loss method" don't understand how the human body works, let alone basic biology regarding fat loss.

So, you're saying skipping breakfast is the key to losing weight?

So, here's the deal—for a few years, I was on thyroid hormone medication every single morning. I’d take it on an empty stomach with a big glass of water—no exceptions, just a daily ritual. On average, I'm drinking about 3 liters of water a day.
Did I lose any weight? Not a bit. Absolutely nothing happened until I finally hit the gym and cleaned up my diet...

Look, drinking water is great for you, but don't expect it to melt the fat away.

Look, I've been drinking water first thing in the morning for years now... and it's just what I do. I’m not trying to lose weight, and honestly, it hasn't made a dent in my weight anyway, even though I've been knocking back two glasses every single morning for over five years. It's just because I'm thirsty, and let's face it, plain water is the best way to go... but biology is funny. A 16-year-old and someone in their 30s aren't going to have the same reaction to it...

Drinking water in the morning 👍 might work for him, but if he lost weight, don't assume you will too. He's only 16... he's still dealing with puberty, after all...😉

Give it a try before you start talking trash.

😲
So how do you explain why that worked for weight loss specifically? Like, what was it actually doing to your body?????

Every single morning (for years now)
as soon as I roll out of bed and take care of business, I drink about a cup of lukewarm water with some fresh lemon squeezed in it on an empty stomach.
The whole reason I do this is because my digestion is pretty finicky, and it helps get things moving along.
Honestly, though, I find it hard to believe you actually lost weight just by drinking water.

And I’m pretty much on board with everything Mystical said. 👍

Usually it's just cereal with milk or maybe a chocolate donut—depending on how I'm feeling.

Look, it’s true you need to drink 2 liters of water a day just to keep your body running—that's basic stuff—but thinking that having 70 pounds of fat on you will just melt away because you had a few ounces of water in the morning is honestly pathetic logic.
It’s pretty obvious that the people hyping up this "weight loss method" don't have a clue how the human body works, let alone any basic info on how to actually burn fat.

So you think skipping breakfast entirely is the way to go if you want to slim down?

Look, man, don't overcomplicate something so simple. It’s common knowledge that Japanese people often drink a couple glasses of water right when they wake up—not to drop 70 pounds overnight, but because it’s just the most logical thing to do first thing in the morning. Go ahead, give me your "genius" suggestion for what someone should eat or drink at dawn—I bet your answer would be COFFEE, A DONUT, AND A CIGARETTE. Seriously, use some logic—your body has gone 8 hours without any hydration, so wouldn't it be smart to give it some water after being dry for 8 hours? Nobody is claiming it's a magic cure for losing 70 pounds; we're talking about starting the day right, which naturally ends up helping with weight. I had two glasses this morning and, I swear, I wasn't even as hungry, so I ate less for breakfast and lunch—probably because I started my day with one simple, logical step: drinking water.

Let's be real though—I don't think you lost weight just by drinking water.

And I'm totally on board with what James Rogers53 is saying.👍

Does it actually help with digestion?
Do you add any sweetener?

So you think skipping breakfast is the secret to losing weight?

😲 Not even close. 😲

If you're looking to drop some pounds, the move is generally eating three solid meals a day with two snacks tucked in between. It keeps your metabolism humming and stops those brutal hunger crashes. When you starve yourself, you're basically telling your body to go into survival mode—it starts hoarding everything you eat as fat or glycogen just in case the next "famine" hits.

That said, with five eating windows, what you eat and how much you eat is what actually matters.

(Think veggies, veggies, and more veggies at every meal)
